I just got called up today from AAA New Orleans by the Marlins. This was just after I maxed out my four -seamer to 96-95 MPH. I guess it doesn't get higher because I strayed away from speed and more towards the other option. I pitched two straight gems in AAA. 18.2 IP, 1 CG, 25K's, 10 hits, 0 BB, 1 run 1 ER combined. September 1st rolls around and they trade Anibal Sanchez (no trade deadline), and I get thrust into a start against the Mets. I go 8.1, allowing 5 hits, (2 errors), no walks, 1 ER, and 1 K. Looks like a good start. I'm contemplating staying with the Marlins or going somewhere else, possibly Pittsburgh and lead my Pirates to October glory.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
So I switched from being a switch-hitter to all-lefty. First at-bat against a lefty in Atlanta: hanging slider, bomb. Still not sure how my 35 power guy did that, but I'm not complaining. Just missed the second deck, too. I've been bashing lefties' skulls in and grinding them into a fine powder since I made the switch. Incredible how much better I see the ball left-handed in this game. Funny, in real life I'm a righty and couldn't hit a beach ball left-handed.
Now the bad: gone into shutdown mode again with stealing bases. I don't get it. My OBP is hovering over .400 and at the 300 AB mark had 36 SB attempts, 33 successful (because of 99 BR Ability). But, Dee Gordon, whose Speed, BR Ability and BR Aggressiveness are all 90 or just below 90 in 2014 has 44 SB attempts in the same time. His OBP is also 40 points lower. This is disappointing. I know the attributes are there for a somewhat basic idea, but then what was the point of the 99 rating? 99 on those three attributes should = Rickey or Vincent Van Go. I've been getting on base to lead-off the game constantly batting close to .400 past 10 games, yet had 2 stolen base attempts that time.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Yeah, it looks like crap on your bigger TV because it's low res and being stretched to fit (I'm assuming you're using an HDTV) a larger resolution. That same low resolution looks much better when you see it in a much smaller window on the ole PC screen. Simple as that. I just uploaded the video straight from the XMB. Copied it to a flash drive, to my PC and uploaded to YouTube.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
so how much does spring training affect your role? i signed a contract and it said i would be a AAA bench player after hitting .270 something in AA. however i am hitting .429 in like 10 games of spring training so far (i am really hot right now) so how will it affect my role after spring training?Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Played a lot of my with my Closer RTTS today, and definitely have been dominant. I started the night with a 4.42 ERA.
I'm now in the middle of August in my first year of AA and have my ERA down to 2.97, and it just keeps dipping. I really like doing a reliever. It's mostly high pressure situations you're in and it's just a lot of fun. I'd definitely suggest it to anyone (especially if you're having a tough time hitting as I was.)
Hopefully I'll finish up strong in AA, and start next year in AAA or earn a September call-up. Who knows?Student at the University of Kentucky...GO BIG BLUE

WOW heres a story for you guys,
In my 4th year, its the end of august I lead the MVP race with this stat line
352. 59, 156
plus 27 SB's
I GET BENCHED!!!! for only getting half of my goals passed, wooow good job SCEA, does any legit slugger (pujols,Bautista,A-Gon) have any goals or deadlines at all ? HEEEELLL NO, Goals should only be in the game til you become a starter for 2 straight seasons than disappear forever or at least till your player is 40 or something. Just pathetic

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
There has been a big difference for me in batting right-handed and left-handed so far from the very beginning, so I think I'm going to drop batting right-handed against lefties. I noticed in my very first RttS that I actually liked batting lefty Vs. lefties because I could actually tell when a slider was coming more accurately. In AA and AAA batted much better left-handed, and after being closer to even in first year of MLB back to having a .100 difference in RHB and LHB average. I just get beat to easily with pitches inside from lefties. I have no clue why, but I'm always late against lefties and sliders and cutters just consistently beat me. I'm going to try the rest of this season as LHB only and see if I see the ball better.
Has anybody else tried switch hitting? How did you do?
My Slugging 1B was drafted by the Washington Nationals and was given the starting 1B job for the Harrisburg Senators on 04/21 before getting injured, wasn't out long but lost the starting job and didn't regain it until 05/19. Played in the Futures Game was snubbed for the Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game. Due to an injury to Steve Lombardozzi I got called up to Triple-A on 07/23 and never left because Lombardozzi was out for 1-2 months with a fractured arm and became an everyday starter on 08/15 and trying to lead the Syracuse Chiefs to the Triple-A Championship... currently in the International League Championship Series against the Norfolk Tides.
My SP was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers and after going through my inbox here's his "Road To The Show"
-drafted by Brewers, pitched for Double-A Huntsville Stars and placed in starting rotation on 04/28, made first start on 04/30, got called up to Triple-A Nashville Sounds on 06/08 two weeks before the Southern League All-Star Game, named a starter for Nasvhille on 06/23 and made first start on 06/28, played in MLB Futures Game and Triple-A All-Star Game, got traded from Brewers to Royals on 07/15 for Luke Hochevar, made one start for Omaha Storm Chasers on 07/19, called up to majors on 07/21, made first appearance on 07/24 out of bullpen and first start on 08/21 at home against the Boston Red Sox... also got my first two major league wins in the same series against the Yankees on 08/15 & 08/17http://www.twitter.com/jconWORD <- FOLLOW ME! ...WORD!Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Any tips on how to get traded lol. I play for the blue jays and in my second full year am playing pretty well. I constantly check to see if I can request a trade but it is never there. They have good hitting but the pitching is horrible, I want out.Comment

Slight Annoyance #1: This is how Oakland A's stirrups look:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/6551670...902359/detail/
In the game, I have my CF wear stirrups. The sanis are white instead of yellow in the game. What gives, SCEA? You got the THROWBACK stirrups correct but not the modern ones! Here's a clue: The A's stirrups have been the Kelly green/gold combo for eons now. And how do you get this wrong? Doesn't SCEA have somebody do research on this? Come on, man, can't get the damn strirrups right.
Slight Annoyance #2: Stolen bases. Again. I'm noticing a pattern. Apparently having speed and both BR attributes at 99 just means my player will lead the league in stolen bases. BUT, he will only lead just barely, going only so far as to be ahead of the 2nd place guy. Having all 99's does not, sadly result in Vince Coleman or Rickey Henderson-like running. It's been the same thing this season: quick bursts of 4-5 stolen bases in 2 games, then 7-10 games of nothing while everyone else passes him, then the burst again to take the lead, then 7-10 games of nothing. Nothing better than going 3-3 with a walk (nobody in front of me) and not getting even an attempt because I've reached some sort of quota. Dee Gordon has an OBP 40 points lower and has had 10 more attempts despite his speed and BR stats being no higher than 90. Some sim engine.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Just finished my first season. Spent the whole year in AA which was probably good for me to build confidence. I had a few rough outings in the beginning of the season, but after that I was pretty much lights out.
I accounted for 48 apperances and went 4-2 with a 2.22 ERA in 56.2 innings pitched. I had 63 strikeouts and only allowed 48 hits all year and only 2 home runs.
I think I'm getting a great feel for relieving and I love it.
Will let you all know how I keep progressing!Student at the University of Kentucky...GO BIG BLUE
