Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

My RTTS 1B finally got the call up to AAA Fresno Grizzlies after an amazing start to his professional career in AA.

Here were his stats for the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels

wow, thats actually really impressive how u can have that many at bats and never be patient enough to work a single walk (.301 avg, .301 obp). how in the world did you get promoted? i know walks is occasionally an advancement goal.

Well first season is over and the Pirates sent me down and recalled me twice. I started to get my confidence back in AAA then they brought me back up and in turn brought my average back down. Then finally optioned me to AAA so I could play the AAA playoffs. Good news they decided not to tender Neil Walker, so its between me and another prospect in the spring for the starting second base job. Hopefully I get it or get sent to AAA so i get playing time. If I hit like I did last year I wouldn't expect to win the job. Making 475,000 big ones. WHOO-HOO

Couple of potential big problems in RTTS? need input

Please dont close this or move it to the RTTS thread. If the 2 issues I have noticed are really happening for everyone the issues dont need to get lost in the many pages of the RTTS thread.

I have noticed in my RTTS that my guy will not slide. This is on classic running controls with sliding on assist. The only time I see a slide is in the baserunning drill, never in a game even on a close play. Even on the baserunning drill the runner is not doing the slide that I am telling him to do with the stick. Anyone else see this?

The second issue is it seems like general baseball logic is missing from RTTS. This wouldnt be a problem in any other mode except MOM mode I guess cause you control all the players. In RTTS I have seen a runner run past 2nd base about halfway to 3rd as the cutoff man gets the ball, the cutoff man just holds on to the ball instead of throwing it to 2nd to nail the guy retreating for an easy out. They also hold on to the ball in relays instead of throwing it home.

I am going to put sliding decision to auto to see if that helps, but I would prefer to decide what slides I am doing. Id like to know if anyone else is having these problems? Thanks.

I turned sliding to auto, still no dice.

I also forgot to mention in my logic paragraph about the fielding outcomes for RTTS (outfielder). I get a "bad decision" If I try and throw out a runner going from 2nd to home on a shallow hit ball. That of course is not a bad decision. It is also never a bad decision to throw to the cutoff man if there are no runners advancing, but any throw to a cutoff man when a man going back to first is a bad decision, the game wants you to throw it directly to 2nd base. There are a couple of others I cant remember right now.

                I did as I planned, created a 3B/OF. I play a lot similar, to a Evan Longoria/Josh Hamilton/Joe Mauer.

I got drafted by the Colorado Rockies, it was a match made in heaven, My favourite sports team is the Colorado Avalanche, my 2nd favourite sports team is the Denver Broncos, now im living and playing on Colorado. not to mention the Rockies Organization depth chart showed that they were in need of a 3B.

i started with their AA affiliate the Tulsa Drillers. I found out pretty quickly that this is a first place team that i was playing on, this got me excited because that meant playing in the post-season, which means more playing time in important situations, even if its just AA ball. I wasnt doing too bad, AVG ws around .250 had a couple homers and over 10 RBI. about 2 months into the season.

When i woke up the next day, after getting my things done I started up MLB 11, and entered my RTTS looking forward to playing some good ol' baseball with the Tulsa Drillers, at this point Tulsa was 1st place, 1st in many offensive categories, and 1st in your heart. i was doing well i upped the AVG to .285 and became a starter. when my RTTS loaded, the very first thing i saw was a notification telling me that i was traded to the Boston Red Sox(read the above quote).

I spent a few weeks in Portland playing for the Sea Dogs, at this point i had the coveted red flame beside my name as i was hitting over .350. but due to an injury to Carl Crawford and because of my good play, and with my backup position being OF they called me up to AAA Pawtucket to replace Crawford's replacement.

This is when i learned AAA is really hard. i really struggled during my time with Pawtucket, hitting below .200 with only a few RBI. I finished the year with Pawtucket failing to make the playoffs. I decided to stay on with the Bosox for another year, signing a one year deal for 75,000,scheduled to play AAA bench. Right now im playing really well with AAA Pawtucket as a bench player, playing a lot of OF and a little 3B, hitting .389 with 1 HR(walkoff) and 5 RBI.

Spent the 2nd half of year one with AAA Charlotte Knights. Lost in the 9th inning of game 5 on a walkoff homer by Syracuse over my head in RF. I honestly felt helpless seeing it go out.
Good news is White Sox offered me a bench gig 2nd year, slow start 1st MLB hit was a HR but have struck out 12 times in 34 AB's so far hitting around .200 right now with a start about every 4th game either in RF or LF.
Having a blast so far, I'm not ready for the big team but we'll see.
I play all my fielding and AB's, love fielding the outfield as much as hitting.

what are you using to slide? the right stick? also is there any buttons you have to hold down? I had no trouble sliding last year either but this year I dont know whats going on.

I start a RTTS as a 3b/1b and was taken by the Phillies (yuck).

Here are my stats through the first 25 games:

                        AB - 107
                        Hits - 33
                        Avg. - .308
                        HRs - 5
                        2b's - 11
                        Slugging - .551
                        SB - 0
                        CS - 1
                        Runs - 12
                        Sac Flys - 2
                        Double Plays - 1
                        BB's - 1 :o
                        K's - 12
                        E's - 6 :o

I have met my goals because my sucky fielding. I'm still having a blast though. We're currently battling for 1st place (half a game out). Hopefully, I can start hitting my goals soon so, I can move up.

So if anyone saw my RttS post regarding Pedro Cerano playing AA ball, i was called to AAA now to fill in as the MLB squad is having some injury issues so through my first 4 games here are my stats:

                          20 AB - .550 AVG - 11 H - 7 R - 2 2B - 2 3B - 4 HR - 8 RBI - 1 SO - .550 OBP

My highlight hit right now was over the Highland Park (Oaklahom City Redhawks) score board in right field which was a 505ft shot.

Ugh, so frustrating. I just got benched because the coach told me not to steal. Then in the game they call a hit and run while I am on first. The first time, the guy missed and I got hosed at 2nd. The second time the guy hit a grounder down the line and I made it to 3rd. So after a 4 for 6 game scoring the winning run and the tying RBI triple I get benched.

Yea, there's a few posts around that people are having trouble sliding, but...I'm doing just fine.
                              Right stick on Classic mode.

The only thing I can suggest is choosing to slide earlier. Like almost halfway to the bag. It seems you have to 'program' the slide before the animation of the runner going in tho the bag begins--be it a slide or not.
