Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I created my Rtts player the same as I have the last 2 years (Speedster/contact CF), and this year, because of the control change, I started off like ~.120 through the first 4 weeks. Then, I finally got on track, raising it to .235-.250 by about mid may. Now, as fun as I find hitting and fielding to be, I've always loved to make things happen on the base paths more. And since I'm usually the leadoff guy, that's always great. I can steal second and third on back-to-back pitches sometimes (Steal ABL/Baserunning SPD/pitch SPD not altered at all). This year, I was doing really well, as usual (19 SB 1CS and only like 29H 1BB through mid-late may as well). Then, in the span of two games, I got thrown out 4 times in 5 attempts.

Now, the bad thing is... I rarely check the messages (better now). So, I went through and spent the points as usual and went to the next game and stole 3 (w/no CS). Apparently, he had given me a warning about stealing... but I just stole 3 TIMES, so I got benched (although they kept PH me in top/bottom of 1st for our leadoff hitter... WTF??). They finally start giving me the steal sign, so I take it I can steal again... Wrong.

But now I'm past the all-star break, haven't stolen in 15+ games (I'm still 4th in AAA... they keep rubbing it in my face on load screens), and I still have no green light.

    How do I get it back?? I'm now a 73 SPD, 44BRABL, 36BRAGG

I also have one hell of a time trying to hit the ball. It seems I either make contact or strike out... to an EXTREME:

Still about July/after all star break in AAA

      181AB 44H 2BB.......

      61 STRIKEOUTS.

I've gotten to the point to where I check the S/B every time I go up to the plate and take 1st (sometimes 2nd also) pitch based on that....

This is EXACTLY why I started a Road to the Show as a pitcher. Problem solved.

I was doing great. Started to really get the flow of hitting. I batted something like .367 in the last 5-6 series w/ Tampa's AA team, then got traded to the Braves AA team. My SS hasn't been right since. I get like one hit a game now and struggle to stay above .215

            Update...

Won the 2012 ROTY award. Went 10-7 with a 2.99 ERA and led the league in WHIP. Tried to get out of Toronto in the offseason because we're awful and every game my defense makes 2-4 errors behind me and gives next to no run support. There's also practically zero fans at every game and it's just boring. Unfortunately only the Jays offered me a contract and I signed for 5 years/65M.

To go along with my Slugger 3rd Basemen, I created an all-around RF. I got drafted to the Angels and complete all my goals, but get the 'Strong Showing' email, keeping me on the Bench for 4 more weeks. Anyone else get this and are well annoyed?

So my 1st Baseman on the Nationals was just terrible, and it wasn't fun anymore. I decided to create a closer since so many suggest it on here.

What are the best ways to make your closer good on the game? I've never done it before so I definitely need some help. I have a cutter, a circle change, and a slider to start.

I was drafted by the white sox.

Also do you all use the view in pitching for RTTS where it's just like as if you're pitching in your franchise? Like from the normal view when you're a batter? That's what's on default for me. I don't mind it at all.

Well I'm having success with my closer so far. In Birmingham I'm 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA. I gave up 2 runs in my first appearance and have been pretty much shut-down since. BTW this is in 10.1 innings pitched.

Still would like to know what attributes are best to focus on for closing.

Well, finally got my wish and was traded out of that hell-hole they call Toronto.
Was traded to Milwaukee. Roster looked pretty good but we failed to make the postseason yet again and I got no run support at all. Was selected to another all-star game though.

Ugh, just want a good team.

Well I was having a solid time in AA Birmingham. But mid-way through June I've had like 3 rough outings in a row and my ERA is up to 4.42.

Hopefully I can turn it around again soon.

My speedy CF RttS just came to a grinding halt and I'm not sure I'm gonna bother continuing. Past 2 advancement periods I've gotten power-hitter goals, so I only fulfilled 2, with the other 2 being not even close. For some reason the game now wants my 32-power speedy outfielder (99 speed, both BR, fielding and reaction) to turn into a power hitter. Now yet again I keep getting power goals. I keep not-saving and reloading the save file and every time I get a combination of "Increase LHP Power" AND "Increase RHP Power" along with "Hit at least 1 home run" (I have a 32 POWER RATING) or total bases goals. These same ones keep popping up. My previous advancement period I hit .340 or so but didn't even come close to the total bases goal even with a SLG over .420. This is ridiculous. For some reason I don't think the Texas Rangers threaten to bench Elvis Andrus if he doesn't hit for enough power.

I'm a closer for giants but not seeing enough playing time because we had to go and get Johnny ventures they won't trade me idk wat I should do. I was the closer last yr then I failed one goal then they sent me down to AAA. So if anyone got an idea let me kno. And can u gt a contract from a different team in the offseason??? Plz comment and thanxs.

So I have the game do base-running for me because of the hit-and-run glitch. Past 12 games, 22 times on base, 2 stolen base attempts (both after one single). I've wasted thousands of points by now on getting my centerfielder up to 99 on speed, BR Ability and BR Aggressiveness and with a .391 OBP am not even in top 5 in stolen bases (others are mostly .330 OBP guys, so that's even more annoying). Funny, when I got all those ratings up to 99 I thought 99 meant 99/100, damn near perfect, Rickey Henderson/Vince Coleman/Tim Raines. And no, there's nobody on base in front of me, there's never anybody on base on the 2014 Oakland Athletics other than me. I checked the messages and there isn't anything from the manager. Any suggestions?
