Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
The sliders are just for creating your player initially. All training points you earn while playing can be applied to any skill. If you set you slider up to have the guy be a power hitter rather than a contact hitter, you'll just start out with a higher power skill than contact, but you can apply training points to contact all you want as you earn them. You aren't pigeon-holed into a type of player, the sliders just give you a headstart on the type of player you want.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Just doing a temperature check on the mode. I don't see a lot of issues being brought up. (Crosses fingers hopes this is the rule and not the exception)
Anyway do you guys notice anything wonky or something that doesn't work the way intend? I see there aren't a lot of bugs being found (Crosses fingers again.)Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Finished 2 months as a LF on the Reds AA team and some observations:
1. Not much upside to bunt hits unless extending a streak-you only get 1-3 points.
2. Every time my manager tells me to go shallow, I get a ball hit deep.
3. I cant for the life of me catch a ball near the LF line, its always extra bases.
4. Not seeing a lot of pickoffs or stolen bases in the game so far.
5. only had one coach play- a hit and run. 6. I got -10 points for missing the cutoff man and -15 for making the 3rd out at 3rd, so do your best to avoid that.
6. I'm also not seeing many errors in the first 2 months.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm loving the changes that were made to RTTS. Love getting rewarded for working the count and hitting the ball hard, love being able to start off with a unique player. Thank you so much for revitalizing this mode.
I will say I am a little disappointed that the CPU player creation is as weak as ever. My first series I faced a sidearm SP that threw five pitches. His fastball hit 99. I also faced a lefty (not sidearm) who featured a similar arsenal of five pitches, also hitting 99 on his fastball. The first guy is, well, never going to happen, and the second would be the best prospect in baseball history.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I decided to switch it up this year and create a switch hitting shortstop instead of a right fielder. Got drafted by the Royals. I've been tempted to buy training points to boost my player, but part of me doesn't want to. Haha.
So far, I'm batting .293 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs through 29 games played and 116 at-bats.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
First off, I can't tell you how pleased I was to see a screen that made me choose between strength/speed, power/contact, fielding/arm at the beginning of my career only to be disappointed to find that you can still upgrade all of your ratings through the same point system as previous versions. As I've said before, a player like Michael Bourn was always fast from the day he was drafted. The reason he became a MLB player was because he improved his hitting, base running, base stealing, etc... Along the same lines, a young pitcher who has great velocity may develop control in his career and put it all together. However, I don't know of many guys who started their careers with an 85 mph fastball and then could throw 99 mph in a few years. A huge improvement would be to make some ratings un-editable (is that a word?) once you choose the type of player you want to be. If I sacrifice speed for strength, that should be the case my entire career, not just until I get enough training points to fix it.
Secondly, I was a little confused that after I had a monster week (.450 with 4 HRs and 14 RBIs) I was sent to the bench in AA in favor of a guy who hit .111 with no HR and no RBI. I made no errors and my overall rating was better than his as well which further confused me. There was no angry message from the manager, failed training session, or bad ABs to be seen. I thought this type of random decision was supposed to have been ironed out for this year?
Finally, a very minor issue. As a switch hitter, it still annoys me that if I hit a HR left handed earlier in the game but am batting right handed in the later innings when the replay is shown, the ear flap on my helmet is backwards. It kind of makes any highlight reels or photos I take of replays after the game look a little strange. I know you guys have mentioned you're aware of this before but it's still a pet peeve of mine from the past few versions.Last edited by btown12; 03-09-2011, 07:54 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I am a 1b drafted by the mariners, playing on HOF in 35 games I have 155 AB's hitting .361 with 8Hr's and 38RBI's.
Sucks that the 1b on the AAA team is on fire and leading the league in every batting category so they refuse to call me up to the AAA level.
Somethings I like. You can see the AA guys struggle with fielding the ball, i have seen a lot of errors misplayed balls in the outfield and just judging the ball wrong leading me to extra bases. Have not really seen and steal attempts by the teams and i am not seeing many things from my coaches, hit and run, bunts etc.
but overall the game mode is awesomeGrinders 12 Online Franchise -Currently in Third Season, New York Giants - Season 1 Super Bowl runner up. Season 2 Super Bowl ChampionComment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I love this mode and have played it religiously since the first time it appeared in The Show. With that said, there are still a few areas that could use improvement in my eyes.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
OK, I know I mentioned this in another post but this is just...wow.
I just hit the end of my advancement goal period. I got 4 out of 4 goals all of which were accomplished a few days before the deadline. As I write this, I currently lead the Eastern League in Avg, Hits, 2Bs, HRs, RBIs, Slugging, and OPS. I'm also 3rd in runs scored. My fielding %, while not stellar, is still .972 yet I just received this message from my manager.
"Your stats have held you back because on paper, your rating is good enough to make the next move. At this point, I think you need to stay right where you are until you can improve your numbers."
To reiterate...I currently lead the Eastern league in Average, Hits, 2Bs, HRs, RBIs, Slugging, and OPS.
Am I missing the meaning of "Your advancement through the organization will now depend on your stats versus the players around you"? BTW, the AAA third baseman is hitting a whopping .224. I hate to whine but I seriously don't see any improvement in the advancement system from any previous year of RTTS.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Your limiting the user if they do this. A player can start as a contact contact guy in the lower A but with strength training become a power hitter. Also all one has to do is not put points in a specific category....like you said...don't put points if you think it will make your RTTS seem less realistic. Better to have options than not to have options, especially since this is single player (offline) mode. Another example of giving user options was a review that stated how he didn't like how the commentary was on for minor league games and wishes it wasn't included.....well just turn it off while you aren't in The Show.Comment
