But it does sound like it has an issue trying to access something and the lens probably has to switch fast or focus.
Anyone notice how the game freezes for a split second every time...

Originally posted by CuseGirlI'm suprised no one else notices their PS3 making a LOUD sliding/click noise when that catcher/throw stutter happens. I'm sure at that exact point, somethign is being loaded or read off the disc. Altho, I've always wondered why that click was so loud, it was almost scary, i thought something was brokenComment

I'm sure they will figure it out tho. Like Chris said, with it being so many paths in this thread alone, it will take a little while to nail it down.

Could also be reading audio from the disk... usually a comment from Matt V. I know in '10, the disc would read (clicking noise) as soon as the catcher caught the ball. This year it seems to be reading as the catcher is throwing it back (I still hear the click, but not seeing the shutter) - but not seeing it could well be in my TV settings for all I know. *shrug*

And it is not effecting everybody. It is sporadic. So it could just be a data corruption somewhere that is a chance to effect or not. Either during a data install or patch.
But since Ramone had it happen to him, it is a step in the right direction for them to figure it out.
Like sometimes it installs correctly and other times it does not? Maybe I should keep deleting and installing until I get a good install? Or maybe there is something pre-existing on the PS3 that is causing corrupted data, similar to the Soul Calibur 3 memory card glitch last gen.Comment

Actually guys, I don't think the connection method matters on when the system reads from the disc... if anything, it would be output (i.e. Dolby Digital, dts) - if they could possibly be on different locations on disc.
I supposed one experiment could be turning the commentary/audio sliders all the way down. I don't know if that stops the game from still reading the disc, or is truly just muting it. Again *shrug*

Re: Anyone notice how the game freezes for a split second every time...
1. No stutter here
2. 40 GB fatty
3. I installed the roster updates on 3/8; didn't notice a patch but it could've gone in too.
4. I always play with no internet connection
5. Using legacy controls for everything (no analog)
I had played the game and not noticed anything amiss, after seeing this thread I had to verify. Played 3 innings at Arlignton.
I noticed that as soon as the ball hit the catcher's mitt I was hitting the X button with my thumb to speed the game up, thus skipping the cather's throw animation. This could be a workaround for folks having the problem.
After changing my behavior I verified no stutter on the cather's throw back nor anywhere else.Comment

Re: Anyone notice how the game freezes for a split second every time...
I noticed the stutter last night, usually on the throwback from the catcher to the pitcher. It doesn't seem to affect gameplay, however? Am I missing something? It's annoying, but?
Anyway.
40 GB Fatty
Internet always connected
Installed Rosters and (I guess?) the patch?

It's almost like the catcher is checking his throw. It always skips in the middle of the throw animation. Then the catcher restarts and completes his throw.Comment
