It'd really be great if Russell could tell us (if he knows) whether or not we'll have to restart our franchises with a patch that would fix an error like this.

I'm an every game player... and if the patch isn't for a few weeks, I'll have played like 50-60 wasted games and honestly be pretty upset.

But if I know now that it can't be integrated in an ongoing franchise, I have no problem doing something else in the meantime.

        Hope we get word.

I doubt they no for sure whether the patch will work with exsisting franchise until they get it made and test it. Last year I think the patch worked on the existing franchise.

I certainly don't intend to bash the way anyone plays the game, but what's the fun in simming through seasons so quickly? I don't think I've EVER completed three full, 162 game season of a franchise in any baseball game, ever.

I asked this same question in a thread regarding this last year (maybe even 09) and said, "why don't you just play OOTP?" Dummy I was.

Some people like to play the game as a long-term management sim that they can jump into and play a live game from time to time. I'm an avid FM player, and a big part of the experience is following how players move and checking the stats around the leagues year after year. I can see how people who enjoy The Show like this would be disappointed at this issue. Especially since so much was discussed regarding it last year.

Posts asking why it's fun for someone to play the game a certain way is like going into the hip-hop thread over in the Entertainment section and saying "I don't understand why anyone would like hip-hop. I like 70's British punk." Just not needed.

I'm not trying to stir the pot here, but I really think the other thread where some good dicussion and analysis was taking place should be reopened for those that want to discuss it. If there are some people who can't follow the rules and keep the discussion away from dev bashing, that's what the TOS and bannings are for.

Can't we fix this if we control all 30 teams?

I must be maturing. I actually held off on buying the game this year. They said they can fix it so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they can. After the first patch I'm sure you guys will be all over it and if it's good to go I'll buy if not I'll hold off till next year. I think they'll be making a lot of changes for 12. Won't be a first day purchase though.

Not really sure why the other thread was closed when SCEA adressing the issue was already known back on like page 2 of the other thread and there was some great discussion about the broken arbitration/team controlling a player issue for 6 years.
I don't believe the issue is the MLB teams not controlling the rights to the players for 6 years.....the problem is the teams aren't tendering them offers for whatever reason, thus allowing them to become free agents. The bug/glitch/problem isn't in the way the rule is interpreted by the game...but that the CPU isn't tendering them contracts, or failing to simply renew the contracts.

In the Real MLB, if a team chooses to "non-tender" a player, he then becomes a free agent. I think this is what is happening....

So now we have to wait for a patch, huh. =/ This happens with every sports game it seems. Hell I know it's not a patch, but I haven't been able to start my NBA 2k11 franchise yet because Rashadi's roster STILL isn't done for the PS3 and it has been nearly 6 months, haha. The next game will be out before I even get started with 2k11. Oh well.

I haven't waited for the patch. About to start May in my franchise.

So you're playing without the OS Minors?

I do every year and enjoy every moment of it.

I add in the Top 100 prospects and a few others myself. I don't need full minors to enjoy the game. While I respect what Knight and Co do, they put out the full minors but as the years progress those guys get replaced with draft players.

He was referring to his NBA 2k11 franchise.

I'm just going to create two franchises, one with OSFM and one with updated SCEA rosters.
                              What would Doc do?
