Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
I thought season mode was more than one season? That was always my impression at least... Basically Franchise with choices for how many games and none of the extras like pricing/building up the stadium/etc.What would Doc do?Comment

It is more than one season. Minus all the extras in franchise and also no minor league teams. Just a 40 man.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Ah, I've never bothered with it because franchise does what I want. Just heard someone say season mode was one year once. Thanks for correcting me.Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
Hmmm I think I'll just go with season mode then. I guess I can sim for 5 years and see if the bug appears. I always found that I just set the franchise extras to the default and leave them. What would Doc do?Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
Yeah it really is kind of a misnomer to call it a/the franchise issue. One of the game's biggest selling points this year was RTTS mode, which suffers from the same problem.Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
This is a bit OT but I'm relatively new to sports games. Are these sort of issues prevalent in franchise modes? Something that eventually "breaks" the franchise? I remember reading that it happens in NCAA football with certain teams just dominating because they get all the A prospects even if they don't need them. Some big name teams would have 3 A QB's, etc.Last edited by BwanaKuu; 03-13-2011, 06:23 PM.What would Doc do?Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
Ok I'm starting to think that this issue may never be fixed because it's just not possible. The reason being that A prospects become A players. Which doesn't happen in real life. Some do but a lot fade away into obscurity. Another thing is that they often keep older players around because of chemistry/leadership/teaching to the younger guys or just plan old loyalty. Those things don't exist in a video game since the CPU acts "rationally." There's no subjectivety in video game AI. Plus it's all based on stats there's not that whole shock of going to The Show and how they might not be able to handle all the pressure.
I guess one fix would be to just limit the number of A prospects which is I believe what they did last year to delay the problem. Maybe they need to limit it more? Or completely redo the potential system. Maybe have a growth stat as well? Some people like Buster Posey or Strasburg can come up as young guys and dominate but how many of those are there every year? And at times you get players who are very late bloomers. Our former Jayson Werth is an example. He was ready to quit MLB alltogether then he joined the Phils as a utility player, fought with Jenkins for the everyday job and then got it. Now he's making $127 million. In MLB 11 he would not have been an A prospect.
I think there may just be too many intangibles that can't be simulated and we may never see this issue fixed only delayed...
BTW this is just me thinking I really know very little but just thinking of possible reasons. If I'm wrong anywhere I'd enjoy the correction. What would Doc do?Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
Isn't this all fixed by controlling all 30 teams? I'm just going to sign free agent start to teams that I think would do it. I know its not the best solution but its better than letting them sit in free agency forever.Comment

Re: Franchise Problem is Addressed
It sort of is but it still needs to be fixed with a patch. Does anyone know how many A/B potential players are "injected" into the game every season? Like how many A potential players are there in the draft? I'm thinking that maybe that roster change last year helped delay it but the subsequent draft groups had too many A potential players? Thus the same thing was happening just a year or two later...What would Doc do?Comment
