Is there a workaround to get the game AI to do banking and facilities on 30 team control? Not too much work to get loans for 30 teams, but not looking forward to manually going into vendors and tickets for 30 teams.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Regarding the pinch hit bug......and the scorebar/reliever glitch
Thanks to Amazien....
The can't-pinch-hit bug is still there, but for anyone having that problem, you can back out of the sub menu, pause, unpause, then go back in and it should let you do it. (That also applies to the scorebar-after-reliever problem... pause and it should return.)
Is this the fix for the 'pitcher warm' bug? or am i way off?

No. The scorebar disappearing after reliever enters thing happens if the reliever is brought in after a pinch-hitter for the previous pitcher or a double-switch involving the P spot.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Updated the first post to include tabarnes19 and his tips for setting up a franchise to alleviate top names/good players coming onto the FA list in later years....
Thanks to tabarnes19 for this tip!
There are essentially two solutions to the Free Agent issue that now occurs in 2015.
1.) One is to turn budgets off. This allows the cpu to sign players above the "salary cap."
From reading the description of budget off and some basic testing the only negative is the cpu will not take finances into effect when making trades and signings. This appears to be the only "fix" for single user franchises.
2.) The best solution that I have seen is to use 30 team control with training set to manual for ALL profiles. The key here is to make sure that NOTHING is checked in training for ALL teams. Easiest way is to set training to Manual on all profiles before starting a franchise since the cpu will not assign any training.
If you have already started a franchise--after switching all profiles to manual---go through each team and uncheck all training assignments.
From what I can see this seems to eliminate any issues with players until the 2016 offseason. At that point if you want to "step in" and make a low ball offer to a Big Name player or two the cpu seems to have cash and will sign them.
One thing that I would suggest and is optional is this....
Since patch the CPU seems to sign almost ALL Big name free agents before they hit open market in exclusive period. To allow some of those players to hit the market I have been using this work around...
When you start offseason..on all profiles..in User Settings..Mode Options...change contracts to manual...Then sim to day before exclusive period is over. So if period ends the 7th highlight the sixth and sim to date. A prompt will appear asking if you want to stop sim due to last day. Hit yes and go back to contracts and change back to auto for all teams except the one you are controlling. Offer to your team what you want, the cpu is doing the same. When you sim to next day you will notice that some players will be resigned by cpu on that last day before they hit the market. Others will hit the market but the cpu will still offer contracts to it's own free agents. Some will resign with the original team even after (think Jeter last year) and others will switch teams.
I see No reason not to use 30 team control now since it is an identical mode now with 1p. Strategies change for ALL teams and it allows you the ability to scroll through other teams lineups and rotations. You can step in as much or little as you would like. I usually never do, but like I said it allows that option of you so choose.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I agree with the sim to last day trick. It makes Free Agency so realistic. The offer with the last team still stands while the free agent will still hit the open market
Just tested it and thank you so much...
My results:
P.Fielder resigned w/ the Brewers and Pujols went to the Dodgers(and got a ****load of $$$ for 7 years) and yes still they got offered from their past team and others. I think the advantage of using this trick is that the free agent gets the offer he deserves.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
The other teams will be training and with budgets off....but can keep up with the pace of progression/(as tied to the salaries...which is what throws off the FA in the first place)....so you should too.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
I'm playing a franchise and I have a problem with the score ticker. Every day it says "No other MLB games are scheduled for today."
It will only show the current game that I am playing ie.
Dodgers 0 Braves 0
or even occasionally Dodgers 4 Braves 2 (F) - even if it's only half-way through.
Anyone come across this issue before? What's the problem? I've got 30-team control, but only use one.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Draft Tips:
In 30 person control, you can go into other persons scouts and release them to be hired by your main team. A good way to hire a top scouting staff.
Only players over 18 appear in the draft. Never scout 16 year olds and 17 year olds only after the June Draft.
Scout pitchers for velocity because that doesn't progress. Not sure if you can scout for break, I'll check later.
About 50%-75% of players to scout are SP, so I'd only scout 1 SP for every 4 players.
RP and CP seem to go in first 2 rounds, so try to scout 1 for every 4 players.
It goes without saying scout for potential, although you might keep an eye out for players with high attribute ratings.
Don't scout B overall players(3/4 bar full) unless you think you'll be drafting high the 1st round.
Not all players you scout will appear in the draft.
In the past scouted players who were drafted would remain on the scout list. I'll sim later to see if this is still the case.
In 30 person control, you can look a the other 29 teams scouting information. If I want a talented catcher but I focused on other areas, I look at what the Tigers scouted for catchers(along with other teams.
If you see a talented prospect you want but don't draft for awhile, pick other prospects with the other teams. I saw there was a A potential prospect I wanted, so I simply picked relief pitchers with other teams till I could pick my catcher.
Take Scouting focus off Auto for all teams, and set focus for other 29 teams in areas they are weak. This will do a good job of scouting for all positions overall.Last edited by Mike3207; 05-09-2011, 09:24 PM.Comment

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds
Quick question for a 30 team Franchise Vet -
I went through and started a 30 team franchise with two profiles, one for me and CPU as described in the first post. Only my team the Rockies have USER as the designated profile.
My question and confusion is this - After I have started my franchise, when I go into "User Settings" it lists at the very top the current profile being used is "CPU." But when I go into the "Settings File Association" it shows all 29 other teams with CPU, and only my team with USER. Does that mean all is set up and working properly? I just get confused when I am on my team and go into "User Settings" it lists CPU at the top. Is that because I have CPU Profile set as "Default?" But in reality, the only profile and settings being used for my team I'm controlling is USER?
Hope that made sense and you guys can clarify and ease my concerns.Comment
