Re: Community Day - GAMEPLAY question and answer

Since the fielder's speed has been toned down a bit and the ball physics have been rewritten, did you guys notice more hits that would make pitching a little more difficult?

      Computer Manager AI questions:

      1. Does the computer still hold runners on base that have no chance at stealing a base, such as pitchers, or any of the Molina brothers, etc? IRL no team would hold a pitcher on 1st base, and most especially with a LH hitter at the plate.

      2. Does the computer opt to NOT hold a runner with two out and a full count? IRL , in that situation, the defense will usually come off the bag and play behind the runner, knowing that the guy is going on the pitch anyway.

      3. When NOT being held , will the runner take an extra step or two in his leadoff?

      4. Does the quality, or experience, of the catcher actually influence the confidence and the effectiveness of the pitcher? Does the catcher actually have a rating for his ability to call a game?

Finally..WHEN, oh WHEN, will me MOM types have the option to play MOM head to head, or online?

      Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for the tip, Ramone. Using Blzer's pic in another thread, I was able to get my custom camera looking very close to what will be the default camera in MLB 12.

I really like the change. Right off the bat I noticed that the custom cam I had been using was a bit too low to the ground. That was good in terms of helping me lay off of low pitches, but I was swinging too much at balls that were up out of the zone. Now, those high pitches are much easier to lay off. The trade off is that low pitches are a bit harder to read, but I'd rather have things set up this way.

Sorry if this has been asked.

I'm wondering if the CPU is still very good at laying off pitches just off the plate with two strikes. In addition to this I'm also wondering if they're very good at fouling pitches off as well.

I play on default settings on All Star and move up to HoF and Legend as I begin to win more. Even on All Star, I found that the CPU was very good at laying off two strike pitches that were just off the plate, and when I did get them to chase a pitch, they were very good at fouling it off.

Maybe it's just my experience with the game, but I felt the CPU was just a little too good at this and my strikeout totals were slightly lower than what I thought they should be.

Looks like this question was missed, if you can get the chance to get to it it'd be greatly appreciated:

Hey Bob, I found some info on analog pitching and how the meter will look and act (not quite sure about meter). I had trouble throwing outside the zone as well due to the width of the strike zone in the analog meter. I was kind of hoping that the two lines would be brought inward a little to make it easier to throw off the plate and pitch around hitters. Anyway, not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but it may give you some answers..

You realize you just linked to your own post right? Not sure if that was supposed to be a joke or something.

Haha. It should bring you to an answer that's within this thread that's on page 24. It works when I click the link... though I understand the confusion.

I did not try meter, only used analog pitching. This is going to be hard to answer for me because I really did not have difficulty throwing outside the zone to be honest.

I don't have a page 24, and I don't think an answer is in this thread because I've checked every page already. That's why I waited 5 days to re-quote my question

Analog pitching is the main one I'm interested in. I find it hard to believe that you found it easy to throw outside the zone (particularly to the left and right of the zone). I'm not talking about "painting the corners" and throwing pitches that look like strikes. I'm talking about blatant balls.

I totally understand what what you are referring to. I don't have a problem locating anywhere in or around the strike zone. That is why it is hard for me to give an answer on this because I can't gauge if it is easier because it felt the same to a certain extent.

That's something I find incredibly shocking. What difficulty do you normally pitch on?

I used HOF at the event which was last years legend difficulty. Probably will hit legend when 12 drops!

Have they fix it where you can play a shorter inning game and the cpu recognizes it. Say you play a five inning game will the cpu treat it like a five inning and make pitching changes and other substitutions. Also will the commentary reflect it as well...
