Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
Too bad about the pitcher confidence not being saved properly...Thanks for finding out and responding Knight! You may remember I am strictly a MOM guy also. You say it has been untouched...may be a dumb question but I gotta askWe will get all the new ball physics, OSD, popups, etc as the regular mode I am assuming? Thanks again bud
No...one for one swaps in managing rosters outside of franchise.

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
PLAYER EDITOR:
Will it be possible for them to add FIRST NAMES to the selectable list of Last Names for audio?
The commentators already refer to players by Last Name, even if you don't select a first name. That's great, except for many players their first name is the only thing available in the commentary so we never hear our name. The names are already in there, and the game is already programmed to use the list of last names for PBP.
So by adding first names to the list of last names, I could set my LAST name in the commentary to "Chris" -- which would be a nice change of pace from Vasgersian calling me "Fatty".
For the love of God, please tell me there will be an easier way to skip Spring Training at the beginning of a new Franchise.
I would LOVE to be able to skip through Spring Training in a way that doesn't mess with the opening day lineups and 25-man rosters. I don't even want to think about all of the time I spent last year redoing lineups and adding players back onto 40-man rosters...
We also checked boxscore lineups from simmed games and it looks like they are now what you have them set at with no shuffling there.
I'm guessing most of the changes/fixes will be related to core logic/AI this year, but I would love to know if teams better manage their FA moves by depth chart this year (it's steadily improved over the years-no more stockpiling SS for the Yanks...just curious if more work was done in that regard).
Also, has anything been done with financials (maybe tuned to make them a bit more relevant-especially for smaller markets)?
I think most of my other concerns have been addressed in here already, and the rest would be additions, so thanks!
Roster logic is tweaked as well.....(for signings and such)...but it remains to be seen in a more varied/larger sim base(from what we could do and check in limited time) how much it is improved. The core logic should keep things like this from happening, but I did see some teams carrying a lot of catchers sometimes(in the organization...not at one level).......they are aware and looking at it.
Budgets were still being tweaked when we left. Looked better, but small market teams will have to win(and win often) to see big gains....they are exploring some possible options on this(for '12...but it's tight!)
Can players wear different color sleeves? For example Starlin Castro wears a white sleeve. And can this sleeve be different then the actual sweater sleeve?
Also do umpires wear jackets in cold weather?
Do baserunners wear gloves on basepaths, and under fielding gloves?
I don't know on umps...
On basepaths....I'm not sure...but under fielding glove...YES!
My number one concern, fix the problem of the cpu taking over for the human manager in manage mode.
In franchise there has already been a thread. Allowing for contract negotiations during the season.
Total team salary should be more dynamic. Currently it is very difficult to increase team salary which makes it very difficult to compete with a team that begins at a salary disadvantage.
For example the Pirates are currently drawing big crowds in my franchise but that plays no factor in increasing the team salary. Winning the world series increases it 7%, there should be other ways to boost it.
It's a great game, if they would address the issues in manage mode and franchise it would be even better.
Stats on the statistics page are not baseball card style...straight columns
How about a numbered ratings bar instead of just the bar filled in with red. Its hard to determine who is better than the other. That being said in OSFM it would be easier to determine who the best prospect is at what position with a #rating instead of just the bar.
I'm currently rating the top catchers and I cant tell if Jesus Montero is better than Devin Mesoraco.
Just a question.
No numbers and thankfully so!
Originally posted by CuseGirlThe only things I'm concerned with are:
#1 Fixing the Free Agency/Young Player Re-signing Bug in both Franchise and RTTS
#2 Making advanced stats in a LIST, not on the player card. Advanced stats have no meaning if I can't compare it to other players.
#3 Implementing some way to customize the player card photo for RTTS players, either by letting us upload our own photos or taking a screen shot from within a game.
#4 can you add the name "Belgrave" (pronounced BELL-GRAVE) to the game?
2. They are on the card and on the stats pages.....to compare you're going to have to go old school and write 'em down though
3. In the editor with the current system
4. I'm not sure about names.
Couple things I would like to know.
Have they revamped how fatigue works during franchise? I thought players become fatigued to quickly and recovery time was not fast enough.
Have they overhauled how the first year player draft works? Some of the names are very weird and I was wondering whether it was deeper? Don't understand the different regions either. It seems that this hasn't been touched for years.
Has free agency and trade logic changed, for the better, in regards to how the AI works with the system.
Thanks.
Draft is relatively the same. They may be tweaking some things(after we left)....but I'm not sure....it would be with ratings though. You'll have to edit names.
Logic has been tweaked and was still receiving some attention when we left.
when a player is injured in the playoffs, we should be able to add him to the playoff roster (it says we can but the mechanics aren't apparent)
also, if we make a ton of money, payroll should go up by more than 6%. I made like 110 million last year, it seems to be gone
I'd LOVE a prospect watch screen...so I can figure who to trade for when dumping salary
Payroll is mostly the same...they may make some changes(for '12)....but they are testing some options with that(so it doesn't break something else)
Me too on the prospect page....definitely a BIG request for '13

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
tabarnes...how did your long range franchise testing go?
i.e. did you get to run some tests 5/10/20 years into a franchise and check all was as it should be regarding no more big name free agents being left to rot etc, not too much salary being given to average players and eating up all a teams $?
Any info you could provide on what you found would be greatComment

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
I would have to say 80% of the time we spent testing this issue. Brent and Aaron changed some code to have the cpu sign A and B prospects that should still be signed. They receive smaller contracts, as they would in real life. This allows the cpu to spend more on established Vets.
As far as contracts, we told them we thought there should be a little more disparity between elite guys and average guys. We also noticed that Arbitration guys were getting more than the FA counter parts. I am pretty sure they were going to look into it, but remember we are getting towards the end here in the development cycle, for them to get any of the changes in at this point is amazing.
I had to leave before Knight, but when he tested the last build he stated that he did not see any FA's that made him scratch his head. We also suggested bumping the budgets a tad for each team.Last edited by tabarnes19_SDS; 01-21-2012, 04:05 PM.Comment

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
It's nearly impossible to manage rosters with this limitation. Could you find out why SCEA can't implement this into the game? I'm sorry but this is a big problem for me. I'm an avid roster guy & for them to not add this into the game after all of these years is beyond me.
Heck, MLB 2K series has been able to release/sign players freely for a long time. IMO, it's the only advantage this game series has over The Show but it's a big plus for me. Roster management is critical for my needs. While this isn't a game killer for me it certainly puts a damper on the expected release of the game in my mind. I guess we're still left with a total nightmare in keeping accurate rosters outside of franchise mode.NCAA- GO VOLS
NBA- GO CELTICS
MLB- GO BRAVES
NFL- GO COWBOYS
NHL- GO PREDATORS
NASCAR- Chase Elliott
MLS- LA Galaxy

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
That's not what I wanted to see! Why can't they allow us more roster freedom? This has been a MAJOR problem with roster management in this game since the beginning.

IDGAF what other games allow you to do or do not allow you to do.....it has zero bearing on this game or why SCEA wants to keep it as is. Not everyone is a hardcore roster freak and they simply have checks in there that THIS game needs in order to start a franchise. This is their way to insure that someone who is not as adept at roster making can still make moves without totally wrecking any work they have already done(I'm talking the auto fix here...since that is not the solution if you want to see what you've done stick)
If you cannot find a way to easily keep roster accurate in it's current form....with 3 FA lists and the ability to import players ....then you're not thinking enough.

Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR
Wait did I hear this right ???
Prepare for a rant....
We still can't just set our rosters ONCE outside of a Franchise for Exhibition games and then be able to skip spring training entirely WITHOUT having to send down 450 players or redoing ALL the teams rosters again on day 1 of the real season just to make them stick !!!
Then you say that we could just set them on day one which means that we still have to control all 30 clubs which also means that we have to set a bunch of options to manual, turn off trades and be forced to SIM all the other teams games before playing our own to even get all the bells and whistles like in-game score updates and then on top of all of that still have to set our rosters TWICE since the rosters we set outside of our season won't work unless we send down 450 guys and call them back up
I thought there goal was to make things easier and more user friendly this year for starting a franchise or season ??
Seriously I just want to control "1 team" and start a Franchise and have the rosters & line-ups that I set stick at least just from day 1 of the season !!!
This is so absurd that we will once again have to follow a damn "how to" guide just to get the rosters that we spend hours on to stick
It didn't use to be this way!!!! I can't even do simple season test sims anymore to see how all the teams will do with the roster changes that they really make throughout the real season because I have to spend an extra hour sending guys down just to get accurate realism
Also I didn't hear anything mentioned about the new and improved line-up logic and how it helps anything ???
Seriously someone talk me off the ledge because I'm PO'edLast edited by DodgerFanatic2K3; 01-21-2012, 06:08 PM.Comment
