        Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

My franchise is in 2017.. With the Marlins we are 62-45 right now and we've won 2 WS (2012/2015)..

        Lineup

        1- Jose Reyes (SS) .267BA/ 2HR/ 31RBI
        2- Daren Willis (CF) (Aquired thru draft in '14) .277BA/ 6HR/ 44RBI
        3- Hanley Ramirez (3B) . 324BA/ 21HR/ 73RBI
        4- Giancarlo Stanton (RF) . 301BA/ 38HR/ 83RBI
        5- Logan Morrison (LF) .254BA/ 12HR/ 45RBI
        6- James Dillon (C) (Aquired in '13 Draft) .230BA/ 4HR/ 38RBI
        7- Emilio Bonifacio(2B) .245BA/ 0HR/ 25RBI
8- Jorge Gonzalez (1B) (Aquired via trade with Atlanta) .221BA/ 1HR/30RBI

Gonzalez is only 19 so I'm giving him a chance..

        Pitching
        1- Josh Johnson 11-1 1.15 ERA
        2- Ricky Nolasco 5-7 4.21 ERA
3- Ryan Martin 7-3 3.55 ERA (Aquired in '14 Draft)
        4- Anibal Sanchez 6-5 3.27 ERA
5- Josh Beckett (Aquired via trade with Boston) 4-8 5.22 ERA

I've got a very high potential SP in AA Jacksonville, it's his 2nd season and I'm trying to get him a bit better before I call him up to AAA..
plus I've got B overall 3B in AAA New Orleans he's batting over .350 with over 30 HR, but I've got Ramirez at 3rd in MLB and I wanna give Gonzalez a chance at 1st..

        NL East
        1- Miami 62-45
        2- Washington 57-49 -4.5
        3- Atlanta 53-55 -9.5
        4- New York 46-61 -16

          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Here's a run down of my franchise up to this point:

I created two players to use in my lineup: myself and WWE wrestler John Cena(that may be weird to some but he's one of my faves and thought he may be a good player )

I've made quite a few trades so far... just to improve the ranking of each position or to get rid of players that were doing very poorly:

On 5/8 I traded C Ryan Peters to the Mets for P Jon Niese
5/9 - Traded C Taylor Teagarden to the Phillies for P Jose Contreras, C Vance Guerrero and LF John Mayberry

          5/10-Traded P Darren O'Day and 3B K. Startup to CLE for 1B Travis Hafner, P Robinson Tejeda and P D. Diaz

5/11 - Traded Mayberry to MIA for P Carlos Zambrano and P Anibal Sanchez

6/10 - Traded 3B Josh Bell, P Anibal Sanchez and LF J. Yoshii to BOS for P Daniel Bard, Vincente Padilla and M. Rylander

6/20 - Traded Bard and LF Will Gray to CLE for P Mike Gonzalez and P Josh Tomlin

As of July 1, I'm 58-19 with a team batting average of .311. Here are my main lineup's stats so far:

          1. 2B Brian Roberts - .335 AVG/11 HR/34 RBI - 5 game hit streak
          Roberts' AB/HR ratio is 23.364
He's hitting .346 vs RHP and .217 vs LHP.

          2. SS J.J. Hardy - .339 AVG/19 HR/54 RBI - 4 game hit streak
          AB/HR ratio=13.211
.341 vs RHP and .320 vs LHP.

          3. RF Nick Markakis - .278 AVG/8 HR/39 RBI - 3 game hit streak
          AB/HR ratio=40.500
          .306 vs RHP/.195 vs LHP

          4. LF John Cena - .322 AVG/17 HR/49 RBI - 2 game hit streak
          AB/HR ratio=18.647
          .308 vs RHP/.355 vs LHP

          5. C Matt Wieters - .336 AVG/9 HR/31 RBI - 4 game hit streak

It probably would be fun to play on rookie, but I'm not. I play on All*Star with two players stats maxed... lol

The Miami Marlins are sitting at 36-41 and 10 full games out of first and 8 out of the Wild Card.

3-7 in our last 10 we are really struggling just like IRL!

We are at the June 30th mark and embark on game two of a 3 game series vs the first place Phillies. We already lost game one. So not a good start to this critical series.

I made one trade and that was sending Omar Infante to the Reds for Aroldis Chapman.

The Reds lost brandon Phillips and he is on the 60 day DL so they put Chapman on the block and were looking for a 2B.

I am platooning Coughlan and Donnie Murphy at 2B (Murphy faces left handed pitching).

I am really not getting good pitching and my hitting has been erratic to say the least. I don't have enough star quality players as Hanley has been a disappointment again in 2012 thus far.

Overall though I feel I could make a run if I can get on a nice role here in July and August. My goal to to get within 3-4 games by the end of July.

A huge task at hand indeed.

After using Scott's ZiPS roster to start my Mets franchise, I went ahead and used the roster for my Rockies franchise. I simmer through April and am 14-9 now after a 2-1 win over the Dodgers. I was 10-12 with the other file, so not a huge change.

Really like Scott's file, as it seems to really show the contrast between the level of players and the pitch edits are great. I'm back on All-Star and hitting really well, likely because not every pitcher throws mid-90's fastballs and mid-70's change ups.

                        Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

A quick follow up to my last post. It was a rainy day so I was able to play 3 games today.

We ended up losing 2/3 to the Phillies with Ricky Nolasco getting bombed in the middle game. He lasted 5 innings giving up 6 runs and has really been making me flip out the last 4 starts.

So the Marlins made a move and sent him down to AAA and called up Wade Leblanc to fill his spot in the rotation. Leblanc has been on fire posting a 7-3 records with a 2.45 ERA. I had to shake things up. I have also placed Hanely Ramirez on the trading block. The guy is really a disappointment this season and also is a lousy third baseman to be frank. He let's balls get by him and never seems to lay out. Frustrating.

We embarked on a 4 game road series vs the last place Brewers to get healthy and we rocked Randy Wolf for 7 runs to take the opener 7-3 as Josh Johnson pitched 8 shut out innings before yielding 2 runs in the 9th as he was gunning for a complete game shut out.

Logan Morrison (who now leads the NL in BA at .339) led the charge with a majestic 3 run blast to start the hit parade. Jose Reyes drew 3 walks hit a RBI single and stole 2 bases. Ramirez was dropped in the order from 3rd down to 5th to see if can start to produce better. He has been not awful at the plate....but in clutch situations he has really been a huge let down. Gaby Sanchez is now hitting third as he has been a .300 hitter all year.

July is a monster month for the Miami Marlins. It's now or never as we must get on a major roll to salvage the season and make a run at the Wild Card.

Today was a start. Let's see if it can continue.

I was able to win the last 2 games of the opening series vs the Cubs in typical Nationals fashion!

Beat the Cubs 4-1 the first game 2 on 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball by Gio Gonzalez.

I then won game 3 of the series 3-2 on 8 innings of 1 run ball from Jordan Zimmermann. He actually pitched 7 1/3 innings of no hit ball.

My key performers from the series were Jayson Werth, Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman, and Drew Storen notching 2 saves. Off to New York for a 3 game set with the Mets.

I plan to play these games at a pretty good clip so I'll be updating a lot.

@Armor&Sword....Loving the Marlins updates! Good luck in July man

Played game 1 of my series vs the Mets! Great game as Edwin Jackson and Miguel Bautista battled and the game was 2-2 heading into the 8th when I took a 3-2 lead on a suicide squeeze.

Unfortunately Drew Storen gave up a solo homer to Ike Davis in the 9th and we went to extras.

Tom Gorzelanny threw 2 scoreless innings of relief and in the 11th, Jayson Werth won the game for me with a go ahead solo homer! He's been great for me in 4 games so far.

Won 3 straight now after losing the first game.

Hey guys! I just started a franchise where I'm playing as the Yankees. They ran into a "financial issue" and now are not allowed to spend more than $80 Million on their payroll. So I had some help from the trade thread coming up with trade ideas for most of the superstars on the team, and now i'm trying to rebuild and stay competitive with a "new team" under a new payroll.

After 70 games, I'm 43-27 with the Braves. I've got a 2.5 game lead over both the Phillies and Nats. Marlins are still lurking a bit back.

Chipper is still in pursuit of .400. The Yankees slowed him down a bit, as he's at .392 for the season (with 13 HRs and 49 RBIs).

In the Central, the Cards have led from the beginning. But they've lost four straight now, and the Pirates have been red hot. Pittsburgh has won five in a row to pull to within a game. The Brewers and Astros aren't far behind.

In the West, the Dodgers and Padres continue to battle for the lead.

In the AL, the Yankees, Tigers and Angels lead the way. The Tigers are the best team in baseball at this point. Fielder has some absurd numbers. Last time I checked, he was hitting something like .360 with 28 HRs and 80 RBIs.
