    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Got smoked by Boston 10-5 in the first game of our series. Price had an awful third inning which sunk us. We went on to lose the next game before avoiding the sweep with a win in the finale.

Right now we are in the same spot as before. Just a few games out of the WC spot. The decision to be a buyer, or seller, is going to come down to the final week in July. At that point, I should have a better gauge on whether or not we have a shot to actually compete for a playoff spot. Just in case we need to move some bodies at the deadline, I have updated my trade block to include: Upton, Shields, Pena, Scott and Farnsworth.

Just a quick roster note as well. We did claim catcher Austin Romine (Yankees) off waivers. To make room on the 40-man roster, we did place Stephen Vogt on waivers to remove him from the 40-man roster.

Another game, another loss. It's like there is no ooomph in my bats. Every time I make contact it is as if there is no power behind it. My lineup is simply hitting dribblers right now, the whole team sucks.

I just had a 2-hit shutout pitched against me and the only guy who got both hits was Jose Molina. That's how bad it is right now. Thankfully, everyone else around me is losing as well so I am not losing too much ground.

I didn't start yet with the phillies. I'm not even sure I want to play as them. I'll pick a team soon and keep

          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Nearing the end of June with the royals sitting at 35-39 with the Minnesota series coming up that the Royals actually just finished up.

I started off the season miserable at one point being 14 games out of the wild card but recently the bats have been on fire. I made a couple of trades one in may which sent Johnathan Sanchez, Noel Arguelles, and Will Smith to the Blue Jays for Morrow and Drabek. And then moved Drabek to Baltimore for Zach Britton. So my pitching rotation looks like this.

          SP: Hochevar
          SP: Morrow
          SP: Chen
          SP: Britton
          SP: Duffy

My pitching has been doing well in the month of June as all of them are on fire right now instead of Chen who just tossed a whopping 8 walks last game. Duffy has been the Cardinal killer and has shutout St. Louis in his last 2 appearances against them.

The Astros offered me Jimmy Paredes and J.A. Happ for Cuthbert, but I couldnt stand the idea of moving Chen out of my rotation for Happ so I instead sent Cuthbert over for a lesser Astros relief pitcher. So now my lineup sits at.

LF: Alex Gordon (stays around .300, 8 HR)
2B: Jimmy Paredes (hitting .311, Betancourt has been good too)
          DH: Billy Butler (.280, 9HR, 37 RBI)
RF: Frenchy (hits around .250, power hasn't been what I want)
          1B: Eric Hosmer (.267, 8HR, 48 RBI's)
          3B: Mike Moustakas (Moose is raking, .300, 10 HR, 39 RBI's)
          C: Salvy Perez (stays around .250, 5HR, 27 RBI's clutch though late)
CF: Jarrod Dyson (batting .300! not striking out and 5th in the AL with 20 SB. Real life Yost would be so proud)
SS: Shortstop Jesus (Alcides is batting .230 but love his glove)

Looking to make a run and sweep Minnesota to move into .500. I traded Sanchez because honestly I can't stand the guy, and I wanted to make some not so drastic moves to move into playoff contention.

I was maybe hoping to have Montgomery up by mid July but he hasn't been performing the best with a 4.50 ERA in Triple A. If Chen keeps throwing like crap I might look to move up Odorizzi and see what he can do. As for hitters, Wil Myers is still stuck in Double A due to a .250 BA and only 2 HR's. Starling however has already been moved up to Triple A and has raked in both leagues.

46-43 with my mets chise after losing 5 straight games after havin the lead in the 7th inning or later. I'm only 6 games back but it feels like the worst time fOr come up short

Btw 3 of those games were against the braves who are ahead of me in the wild card

              Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

              Just started my D'backs franchise..

              Rotation:

              Ian Kennedy
              Daniel Hudson
              Trevor Cahill
              Joe Saunders
              Wade Miley

              Lineup:

              Parra
              Drew
              Upton
              Young
              Montero
              Goldschmidt
              Hill
              Roberts
              P

Opening Day against SF. Kennedy had a mediocre game tossing 6IP 7H 4ER 3K 2BB .. bullpen than tossed 3 scoreless innings.

Managed to scrap together one run off Cain (who they had as opening day starter) in the 5th with a Goldschmidt double and roberts drove him in with a sac fly.

              Cain's line- 8IP 1ER 5H 9K 1BB was pretty much dominant

Down 4-1 in the 9th. Had leadoff walk followed by a single off closer Casilla. Than with one out Hill hit a ground ball in between short and third and they threw it away at first. 4-2 with runners on 2nd and 3rd one out. Roberts struck out & than I pinched hit Overbay and he lined out to a diving Burriss at second to save the lead and preserve the win SF.

0-1 on the year. Padres are 3-0 as i play my 2nd game, weird. anyways next matchup is Hudson vs Bumgarner... Lincecum is 3rd in rotation

                Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Okay 2012 fictional White Sox part 1

                2012 Chicago White Sox

                Starting Pitchers

                Eddy Smith R 27years old 2011 14-10 3.59ERA
Smith had an up and down year in 2011 and finished below hefty expectations. That being said we still view Smith as the class of the staff. He is young and possesses a devastating sweeping slider and high 90’s fastball. He has the ability to be one of the top starters in the league.

                William Archer R 31years old 2011 12-9 4.51ERA
With Mesa in Atlanta Archer has to emerge as the inning eater and rock for this team. He is a veteran and came on strong for us at the end of 2011 but truth be told has decidedly average stuff. He is probably more suited to be a number 4-5 starter but we need him to step up again and provide stability as our 2.

                Pedro Morales R 25years old 2011 10-10 4.49ERA
He is part of our solution but we have limited time to groom Morales in the minors. He showed bouts of brilliance in 2011 unfortunately they were few and irregular. Best case he emerges as a legitimate number two worst case the inconsistencies continue and we have another bottom rotation starter.

                Matt Rutledge R 32years old 2011 2-7 4.67ERA
Matt adds a veteran presence to our rotation and hopefully can gobble up some innings. He has bottom of Rotation stuff and our hope, probably over optimistic, is that one of our youngsters in the minors pitches well enough to eventually move into his spot.

                Alex Lopez L 27years old 2011 3-6 5.53ERA
Lopez is a riddle. He was the center of the deal that sent all star LF Sanders to Florida. He has top of the rotation potential but it has not translated to the bigs. The hope was that he would develop into our top rotation lefty, a perfect complement to Smith, but as of now he is barely cracking the rotation.

                Bullpen

                Juan Velazquez L 32years old 2011 5-4 2.55ERA
The crafty veteran lefty Velazquez is our swing man out of the pen. He may pull some spot starts now and again and given the state of our rotation will probably get ample work out of the pen.

                Dave Ratliff R 21years old 2011 5-2 3.72ERA
Ratliff has top stuff and came up big after being called up second half last year. Let’s hope he can continue to provide solid work in 2012.

                Riki Nishii L 38years old
Nishii comes over form Japan and will be used as our left handed specialist. He has a devastating slider and let’s hope he can fool enough big league hitters.

                Marcos Garcia R 25years old 2011 3-3 4.06ERA
Don’t let the numbers fool you, or at least that’s what I try and tell myself, Garcia has closer stuff. He was part of the Sanders deal and we hope will be a force out of our pen.

                Pedro Alverez L 25years old 2011 8-3 3.07ERA
Plus 90’s fastball and good curve if Pedro can continue to improve his control he is going to be a force. If Alverez, Ratliff and Garcia continue to develop as expected we will have a very tough pen indeed.

                Walt Owens R 27years old 2011 5-4 2.06ERA
Owens is slotted as our setup guy and is more then capable of doing the job. With a young rotation, and the state of pitch counts these days, we have banked a great deal on a top pen. We need Owens to shut down the eighth.

                Spence Roberson R 27years old 2011 1-2 51SV 2.18ERA
Roberson was nothing short of amazing last year and anchors what we hope will be an impressive bullpen. I can think of nobody better to close out games.

                Next up position players..............

Just had an AMAZING game in Spring Training. I decided to start up a Boston Red Sox Franchise. I was up 3-2 and I bring in Alfredo Aceves to close and...... I give up a run and head into extras. After a few close calls on both sides i score two CLUTCH runs the get the final 3 outs to win the game. I also had 20 K's!

After winning 12 in a row in the month of August, my Yankees lost the second game of a 3 game set with Cleveland. We currently sit 3 games back in the wildcard chasing Cleveland, Texas/Angels, and the Red Sox. In the loss Sabathia went 7 innings but gave up two runs in a shaky second inning. In the 6th against Ubaldo Jimenez, Granderson when yard for his 31st of the season but 2-1 was as the final tally. We left a ton of guys on base including when Eric Chavez hit into a game ending double play with bases loaded in the top of the 9th. The new streak starts tonight!

Doing a dbacks franchise using osfm rosters. Plan on playing all 162 games with double a triple a and MLB. Just finished spring training will post rotations and lineups for all three teams later

Here is an update on my Braves franchise. My record is God awful... 14-40 I don't know how I am this terrible. My team ERA is 3.69, but my starters ERA is around 4. I am 4th or 5th in quality starts, so durability is not the issue.

I think my issue is driving in runs. There is only player with outstanding BA with RISP Martin Prado his is .454. I have changed my lineup.
                        1. Bourn .230 8SB I keep getting thrown out trying to steal. WTF...
                        2. Heyward .265 6HR 13RBI
                        3. Prado .274 4HR 15RBI. He has a 18 game hitting streak.
                        4. Uggla .267 11HR 25RBI
                        5. McCann .239 8HR 24RBI coming around lately
                        6. Chipper .193 1HR 6RBI I am speechless. He is not striking out, but just hitting the ball with no authority consistently.
                        7. Freeman .193 5HR 15RBI
                        8. Simmons just for a week

                        Pitching
                        Hudson 4.73ERA 2-5
                        Hanson 3.19ERA 3-5
                        JJ 4.58ERA 0-5
                        Beachy 3.73ERA 1-1 4 starts
                        Minor 3.93ERA 4-5

Bullpen is solid, but starting to get overwork. Kimbrel 11SV 1.25ERA 20K solid.

started off may hot with the Buccos, took two of three from the cardinals and reds. Gerrit Cole has been outstanding after i demoted correia, 14.1 scoreless innings. morton went down for the season so I re-inserted karstens into the rotation.

I also have a deal set that i will pull off later in the season. It will help me get rid of barmes... thank god. what do you guys think?
