Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread

I just played 3 games at work. When I go home tonight and fire up the PS3 I'll be playing the same franchise I just played 3 games of this afternoon at work. Tomorrow when I come back to work (for which I get paid) I will probably play 3 more games.

I'm loving the Vita version. LOVING it.
Being able to download the digital version is awesome!

The graphics look really good to me.
I did see it running a bit slow...but not that bad. I was playing right after playing a PS3 game....so that contributed a bit I'm sure.

2 Spring Training parks from the PS3 version: Baseball City and Turbine Stadium.

For the Minor Leagues: Blue River, Franco Park, Majestic Greens, Date Palm Field, Green Valley, Barnes Canyon, Shippett, and The Porch. So, 8 compared to the PS3's 19.

Hmm... I would have thought they would at least have used the ST parks for all teams, but my first ST game was at Yankee Stadium!

Anyway, loving the game despite agreeing with the consensus that even a little more presentation features would have gone a long way.

This year we can indeed slow down the pitch speed much more than we could last year.

Haven't played much but having hard time adjusting to hitting on Vita. My favorite cam "Offset 5" is gone it seems...
Yeah. I even suprised myself with how quickly I got this thing.

Gamestop gave me a sweet...and I mean SWEET deal...on my trade-ins. Between giftcards and credit, I literally spent less than $200 on both games, the system, and an 8gb memory card.

Now I just need to spend some time with it, making sure I'm equally as good on both systems so my Franchise doesn't get ruined.

So far, pitch speed HAS to come down. How far? That's hard for me to say. Though I must say, considering this is a system made for video gaming, it's suprising that the ball comes up so much faster on me than it's bigger brother. To me, it feels like lag. But I'm not ruling out the smaller screen being the culprit either.

I haven't seen this mentioned, but whenever I get a runner to third, on the next pitch he tries to steal home. This has been very annoying, because anytime I start to get a rally going, it gets immediately ruined. I checked that my rear touchpad is off, I cant figure this out. Has anyone else had this issue?

Maybe youre pressing the left trigger inadvertantly?

Has anyone noticed a ton of dropped 3rd strikes? Ive had more playing this game over the last 2 days than ive seen in 30+ years of watching baseball...

I apologize for asking this so many times, but does anyone know a way to change the hitting so that if you guess the pitch type (say, fastball) it gives you the feedback plus the pitch location? This existed in all the previous PSP versions and it is what I am used to. I don't like having to guess pitch zone to get the pitch location.

Hopefully this exists in the PS Vita version. I tried all of the settings but couldn't find it.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread

Just opened my vita and threw this game in.

I like it so far. Don't love it yet but that is because I need more time with it. One of my gripes is that when Pitching I have yet to call up the catcher glove with his call out, although I have it selected in the options. I like just letting the catcher call the game and if I don't like the call I shake him off. The lack of a fumble feature also make pitching a little harder if you want to throw pitches right on the edge of the plate.

Analog throwing is taking me a while to get adjusted too with the smaller thumb sticks. I have made a few errors.

Hitting, is about the same for me, as I use timing hitting. No real issues with that.

Lastly, I think it was a poor choice by SCEA to not include a full user manual for this game, it it the first release on a new system. I know that most who play on the PS3 know all the controls, but it still would be nice to at least offer a run down of the controls on the new system. But that is a pet peeve and in no way is a knock on the game. I like it so far, but need more time with it to come up with a well rounded view of it.

Umm there is a manual on the games home screen. All vita games are like this. It's the Pink question mark icon when you start the game, before you click continue.
