Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
I noticed playing this game on the Vita too long makes me see double. Understandable since I'm so focused on that little box in the middle.Attached FilesMegatronComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
Batting/pitching view-catcher offset and fielding view-medium have been working wonders for me (graphic wise). I purchase this game for both the Vita and PS3 and I probably play the Vita version twice as much as the PS3 version. The one thing I've noticed and idk if it's because I'm on rookie but also having the pitching speed maxed out but myself and the CPU tend to "check swing" a lot. I know my reason is I'm probably not hitting the button hard enough / I'm second guessing the off speed stuff but I was surprised to see the CPU doing this also. Regardless, this game is so addicting and I can't wait to pair this up with the OSFM rosters!Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
Got absolutely blitzed by the knuckle-ball for 9 inningsWhat a horrible pitch to hit...
Thought I had a problem with slow-down on the Vita when I saw it coming in for the first few innings. I'm still not sure whether the PS3 version plays faster.Comment

We'll only know for sure once they're out, though. Haven't heard any potential problems other than that.Comment

I've played four games so far today while watching the PGA Tour. It's only 1:30 here.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
I recently got the vita version of MLB THe show to pair with the PS3 copy I love, and while it is impressive, the feeling of the game to me is different than the PS3. The timing of the pulse pitching is off and the hitting feels different. I don;t expect it to be dead on, but I find that going back and forth from the PS3 to vita causes major timing issues. I agree with many of the positive reviews on here, but I need to list some things that feel different and are currently hurthing the experience for me.
Even on the slowest speed the CPu pitcher moves at a brisk pace. No time to adjust or guess pitch without rushing. I feel really rushed all the time.
The start button seems to not respond while i am batting most of the time. IF I try to call a time out it often doesn't register and the CPU pitcher just hurls it while I am trying to pause. Its kind of like in a normal video game where there is a short period where you can pause, but since the game is practically fast forwarding, i can hardly ever catch that area. IN contrast the PS3 version give plenty of oportunites to pause due to cut scenese. This definitely affects the strategy when batting.
Way too many hard hit line shots snagged by the pitcher. The infileders are like vaccums...nothing gets past them. In comparison on the PS3 version infielders sometimes dive or try but some grounders get through....like in real life. This makes hitting more frustrating.
Feels as though the hitting is harder.
WHen in the field, if a ball is hit up the middle, I try to get at it with the shortstop, but the CPU had automatically selected my center fielder. SO my CF is running the opposite direction of the ball. I try to turn around but momentum is so strong that he keeps running and does a turn around animation and the ball gets past him to the wall. This happened 5-6 times in about 10 games. This is in comparison the the PS3 version where the proper fielder would have been selected in the first place. It seems as though the Vita version selects the fielder differently than the PS3 version.
Thats all I can think of. I suppose most of my comparisons are to the PS3 version which I feel is pretty much dead on in all the areas I am addressing above. This makes the VITA versions minor flaws feel bigger. IT is a good game. But the things above are issues that I feel detract from it.
IF anyone has ideas or ways to fix the issues I am open to suggestions. I will continue to give the game a chance but I am leaning towards sticking with the PS3 exclusively as to not throw off my timing and skills.
Thanks for listening.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
One other thing I forgot to mention was that with the VITA, when I use pure analog throwing, there seems to be a long delay after I push toward the base and the throw actually occurs. It makes some routine grounders close at first and makes double plays very difficult. Don't know if using buttons for throwing to bases would be any better, but I wanted my Vita setup to be identical to my PS3.
Also....anyone know how to try to pickoff a runner? On the PS3 its the L3 trigger. But that is missing from the vita. Perhaps the touch pad on the bottom....which doesn nothing at the moment.
Thanks.Comment

Well regarding this particular issue, I have not seen it with the PS3 version though there are a few animations that are too long and if you accidentally trigger one while in a hurry....trouble for sure.

As for pick offs, I think it's supposed to incorporate the rear touch panel? I haven't actually tried it, but I thought I read that somewhere. Perhaps someone can chime in on that.Comment

I can eat my throwing errors... it's the uncontrollables which I don't enjoy (where an animation kicks in despite my reasonable efforts and can't complete my play correctly or on time).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Vita Impressions Thread
I use the analog set up for pitching, throwing and hitting on the PS3, and like you wanted my set up to be the same on both. I had a really hard time on the Vita with this set up, so I switched my hitting and throwing to buttons and my pitching to meter. It made a world of difference, and I'd suggest it to you or anyone else having issues with their control set ups for sure.

In contrast the Vita is delayed worse than my 60" LCD ever was, even at the worst setting. I would have though input lag would be non-existent on a portable device with everything built in.
Since I bought the Vita exclusively for the SHow, I am seriously considering returning it. When I played the PS3 version after 5-6 vita games, it was like heaven as far as responsiveness goes.
Still......I may try it somemore and not make a kneejerk decision.
Other than changin pitch delay to slowest, is there any other way to slow down the pitching in this game? Not the speed of the ball, but the time between pitches? I hate feeling rushed. I play video games to relax....not for another thing in life that is rushing me!
