Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I'm in year 3 of my 1B. I finally made the show. Opening day 2014 I became the M's 1B Starter.

I have yet to get traded. So that's a plus

Playing RF and got drafted by the Indians. (So excited when that happened)

I'm purposely trying to stay in AA for the entire season by not meeting my goals. So far so good. I will be devastated if I end up getting traded. Currently at the future's game batting .325 16 HR and 51 RBI. Playing on veteran, but soon i'll have to bump up the difficulty as my player progresses.

I only progress my attributes every 8 weeks. I don't want to max out as quickly as i have in previous versions. My plan is to be in AAA for an entire year than by the start of my 3rd season i want to be in the big leagues from the start of spring training. Although i wouldn't be disappointed being called up early due to injuries.

I promise to bring a championship to the city of Cleveland. I will not stop until this happens. (Funny, i feel like ive heard those words before)

The 2K12 commercial might have inspired the second RTTS I'm going to start.

I'm thinking someone Randy Johnson-esque. Hell, might even use the name Randy Johnson since he's no longer around. Fastball, slider, splitter, and sinker/2-seamer. See if I can't develop into a 100 mph pitching machine.

lol. Even I'm hitting better in AA than you are in AAA, and I'm a pitcher.

SS drafted by the Giants. Batted .349, 11 HRs, 71 RBIs at the All-Star break, just got called up to AAA! Of course, I'm usually an awful hitter, so I was on an extremely easy setting.

I have also noticed a transition between AA and AAA. I'm just 2-13 with seven strikeouts since my callup. Usually when I go into slumps it seems like I'm hitting the ball good, just in the wrong places. Now I'm not even hitting the ball at all!

Hey folks, I have a question for those of you with infielders in RttS. What's the difficulty level at INF in general? Last year my main RttS was with a centerfielder, but this year I'm thinking of doing infield.

1B is pretty easy as long as you pay attention.

In top 10 on the team, and the best they offer me is a starting job in AAA....

I only have 3 pitches so far, but should I add a 4th pitch? If so, which one?
My current ones are cut fastball, fastball, slider.

Just started my RTTS as a RF/LF. Got drafted by the San Fransisco Giants, atleast I am in the National League..for now.

Haha, running it on All-Star with some sliders. Doubled twiced with 1 RBI in my first game. Did get thrown out at home, while sliding, trying to stretch a hit out.

My 3B just got traded from the White Sox to the Pirates for Andrew McCutchen. A.J. Burnett was traded away soon after.

Yikes. I almost want to start over.

Having issues hitting in Triple A....not because the pitching is so much more difficult (though it is an improvement, for sure) but because my home stadium has a low outfield horizon and no bleachers. What this means is that the skyline is usually about even with the pitcher's midsection and I can't see sh!t during day games. The ball just melts into the sky and I can't pick it up until it's halfway to the plate.

Very frustrating....have resorted to simming all home games.

So if the pitch is inside low that's where I am to aim the stick? It's not like: pitch inside aim outside (right) to hit it right?
So I should just use R2+RS to influence direction then pretty much PCI it?
(Sorry for all the questions I'm kind of lost but would like a little bit more control over hit)

Also to keep it on topic. I have a high contact and mid range power for my RTTS. I am striking out a good amount, or just getting weak contact since coming into 3A. Should I up my clutch or vision? I know a lot of it is my fault as I am trying to get more pitches thrown to max out the points. :O
No worries I've gotten every edition since 06 and every year is a learning experience. I really enjoy that they change up the different hitting and pitching options. I play on Zone batting, and the idea is to place the PCI where the pitch will be. If you want to pull the ball a bit more swing just a little earlier, while if you want to go oppo hold back just a bit. Basically the PCI detemines what kind of contact you will make with the ball.

Also, Triple A pitching is quite cheesy at times. I'm on all-star for hitting (zone) and pitching using some of the tried & true sliders from this forum.

Seems like every no-name pitcher can paint the black on either side of the plate consistently. I watch enough baseball to know that not even the greats throw this many good balls in succession. Strike ratios are commonly 3:1 but they're strikes down & away and up & in....ones that you would only consider swinging at when protecting w/ two strikes because you're not going to catch them well in most cases.
