There's something particularly satisfying about playing every single game of your career, all the way up until you finally decide to hang up the cleats in your late 30's.

I also keep the sliders pretty difficult, which prevents me from having ridiculous 28 win seasons with a .60 ERA and a .79 WHIP. I've managed a handful of 20+ win seasons, and won a couple CY Young Awards. If you win it every year because your sliders are set to super easy, it loses all meaning. At least that's my opinion. I like to keep things hard...make it a challenge. Baseball is supposed to be difficult...just like ol' Tom Hanks said in A League Of Their Own.

"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard...is what makes it great."

my seasons in KC and cleveland taught me how to value being on a contender. because being 30 games back at the all star break got very old, very fast.

In my RTTS lifetime which spans about 100 total seasons of play time, including minors, I've gone to the Playoffs a dozen times (maximum), and the World Series once (and won). I've played on Twins teams that lost 120 games, and played out my first 6 years on losing teams the majority of the time.

        Does that answer your question?

When you've played for some of the worst teams in the league, and dredged through it for your first full six years, then you will truly appreciate winning when you have the right to sign via free agency.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

3B on Red Sox. Just won the 2015 world series. Won the triple crown with a .369 avg, 60 hr, and 160 rbi.

I would like to sign with a different team, but for some reason I never get any contract offers during the offseason. My contract with the Red Sox is up, but the only new contract offer I get is to renew my Red Sox contract for 4 years. If I don't sign, my contract will just be renewed for 1 more year.

Anybody know how to prevent this from happening?

Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak is in jeopardy.

With a triple in the 4th inning against the Indians, my RTTS Shortstop has now hit safely in 42 consecutive games.

Ironically, if this hitting streak continues, the 57th game will come against the Yankees.

I'm curious, has anybody broken any records (career or season)? I wonder what will happen if I break this record. Like will there be a ceremony or will the fans go nuts etc etc?

You will get 2000 training points if you break the record.

You have to have 6 years of MLB service before you can really be a F/A

My coach down at AAA Pawtucket is sending me such mixed messages. At the start of the year he told me straight that the Red Sox were going to promote Will Middlebrooks over me, but he'd keep trying for me, which I appreciated. Then he got on his high horse because I was caught stealing in a failed hit and run, so he benches me, and warns me I could get demoted, etc until a couple of days later when I pass all my advancement goals and he emails me saying he doesnt think I'm ready for a promotion, but with my numbers I couldn't be refused one. "Great", I think, "here's my shot at the bigs". So how did I do? Didn't actually get the promotion.

The f**k? I've never had a problem with a coach before, but this guy is starting to piss me off.
