Re: This game absolutely, 100% *needs* a "calibrate lag" feature

I have a Samsung 46 inch LCD HDTV and I followed the steps and changed the name of the input source to DVI PC but I see no difference and none of my picture options are blacked out

I think on my TV it just changed the name and nothing else

    Any suggestions ??

Crazy. I have heard of this issue. I think my new 47 inch has the same issue. I am having issues batting.

I first thought it when I did not make the playoffs in my Madden league and had challenged for the Championship consistently in the past. I just felt my timing on throws was just slightly off and so were my tackles.

Oh so you have to use the one that says DVI ?

          I'm plugged into HDMI 2

I would be willing to wager that you're in the same boat as a lot of people out there who just assume that the game is really hard and don't even think that something like this could effect it as much as it does.

I'm telling you, either find an older "tube" TV or a PC monitor that you can hook up your PS3 to, and try it. I'll wager that you see a big difference immediately.

Hey Guys if I could share my two cents I have a brand new 55inch LG LED 3D TV and yes there is LAG however after looking over many many TV websites I have found that yes changing the tv mode's name will work and that gaming mode is pretty much useless for new tv's. I never use gaming mode for anything I use expert settings that allow me to create my own settings. However changing video modes does help going from Game to PC mode does help but there is still slight lag (try putting in a FPS and you will notice right away) it's just a a strange thing with these newer tv's that no one can quite figure out but its not enough while playing the show for it to ruin the game the avg person wont even notice it. Did you calibrate your tv at all? or are you able to get into the sub menus behind the basic ones you see when you hit menu? youtube TV lag and you will see many videos explaing what is going on when people say TV lag. also what is your refresh rate on your tv and what hz is it running at?

As soon as I switched the name up to DVI PC my screen switched to PC setting now that I'm using HDMI/DVI 1

Thanks man...I had my HDMI's reversed for 2 years and dealt with that timing lag

                    Once again.

My TV does *NOT HAVE* this PC Mode that people keep mentioning and I would wager that many others don't have it as well. And the lag absolutely does ruin the experience for me in this particular game. Just like it does with Rock Band if I don't go in to the Rock Band settings and use the calibrate lag feature.

And when you say "the average person won't notice it" that's pretty much a large part of my point. The "average person" may just think the game is really hard when in reality their TV's input lag is making the game much harder than it really is. I can tell you right now the "average" non-tech type person would not even think of something like this. Or even know that something like "input lag" even exists.

                      WOW!
Been struggling with hitting for 3 years with this game. I have a 40 inch Samsung and i tried game mode which slightly helped but not enough .
Plugged PS3 into the DVI port and changed it to the PC setting and its NIGHT AND DAY difference

PLayed 4 games yesterday without this and got shutout 2 games and only scored 2 runs in the game i did win. Hitting felt like i had to get lucky every at bat. Played my first game with this today and scored 8 runs with 2 homeruns and 12 hits!

The graphics do take a pretty big hit but you can turn your contrast up to 100 which helps a lot. I knew we just didn't all suck at this game i mean come on most of us have been gamers all of our life's

I am super early now on every off speed pitch and can work the count with every batter. May have to bump up to hall of fame setting. Just wish the graphics didnt take the huge they do

The Developers need to account for this technological barrier like Rock Band and Guitar Hero do. We shouldn't all have to go out and buy a specific TV that is low on latency to play the game. This is a Playstation and as such it will be hooked to a variety of normal televisions. It's not like we're trying to enter the Indy 500 in our Ford Fiesta and asking them to slow everyone down so we can compete.
I don't disagree with you. LCD tvs have always had a small lag to them. Some are better, some are worse. I don't think it's a bad idea to put in a lag testing part, but the facts are that no other sports game has it, and almost no other games do it anymore. Guitar hero was probably the only one.

When I played on my tv, getting the right calibration helped a little. Also, playing with no Internet connected helps.

Slightly off topic, but tv related. Anyone (i have a Vizio LED) encounter a problem where the screen sometimes temporarily goes blac (as if resetting, or changing input)? Every once in a while it blinks. It doesnt do it all the time, most days are fine! I've only noticed it happen occassionally on The Show series, and also on Battlefield 3. Any ideas? I've tried resetting game mode and even powering off/on the tv when it happens and most times it doesnt fix it. Like i said, it's random and basically the screen goes black for probably 1 second with a frequency of once every 1-2 minutes. Pretty sure it happened on my older Samsung LCD too. Just curious if I'm the only one who's experienced this, or if there are known remedies.

                                What is this DVI thing?

I believe my Vizio says HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. Does the DVI input still connect with an HDMI cable? I'm assuming some of your TV's, for port 1, say "HDMI 1/DVI"? Is this correct?

And to anyone using a Vizio (mine is the E37OVL), are you saying that being in true "Game Mode" is enough to eliminate lag?

I've never heard of this glitch when changing the Vizio's screen option? And when I originally set my TV up, even within Game Mode, I STILL had to turn off additional post processing filters. Will I need to not only turn off and back on Game Mode, but reset these filters everytime as well?
