Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I am currently playing as the Rockies. I am still in the first month of the season (April 24th) and am looking to try to get BJ Upton from the Rays. I would like to trade Fowler to the Rays and possibly De La Rosa for Upton but nothing seems to work. I keep on getting the "this trade doesn't fit what we are looking for" type of message underneath the interest level. Im thinking it is bc none of the teams have chosen a direction to go yet (playoff push, buyers or sellers). I just placed Fowler on the trading block to see what interest i get for him. He has been struggling mightily for me.

Just curious, has anyone been able to make a trade in the first month of the season?

I was able to get him & Beckham in my Braves 'chise for 3 prospects. Probably coulda got them for 1, but didn't wanna rip them off. Throw in a decent catching prospect, that is what put it over the top for me. Maybe do a 3 team trade if you have to, that's what I did.

Hmm..ok..I will try that..wasnt aware you could do 3 team trades in this game.

I guess it isn't a 3 team trade in its truest sense, I just sent a guy to detroit for prospects, then sent those prospects to Tampa for Upton + Beckham.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Started a franchise with the dodgers.

-Traded Lilly and a B prospect to the rangers for an A Pot Prospect (3rd Baseman).

-Then traded Loney, B pot reliever, B pot SP to LAA for Trumbo.

-Signed Ivan Rodriguez, Vlad, Oswalt, and Kuo (and moved him to closer).

Trying to make them a contender sooner rather than later.

Anyways...On to the trade, I thought trumbo was a lefty, go to set up the lineups and hes a righty, DOH. That means I have 6 Righties and 2 Lefties (SS Gordan and Ethier) Then Ethier broke his hand, out for a couple months it says... I need a left handed / Switch hitter bat badly, thinking about trying to get a 2nd or 3rd baseman, would like to get someone who can stick around for a while and turn into a solid starter. Could also be a LF.

Off the top of my head I've thought of Kipnis (ASU grad like me) Pedro Alvarez, Neil Walker, Zobrist (Rays seem hard to trade with, plus Zobrist would be a tough snag im sure.)

Willing to trade LF Sands, and another prospect or 2.

The whole realism thing is 50/50 for me, I like the trade to be fair and not something out of hand, but I'm also not going to completely avoid a guy because I don't think he'd ever be traded (Kipnis)

Any advice, thoughts, or help would be appreciated.

              Thanks.

                Hi Guys,

I'm still waiting to start my franchise until Knight165's roster come out, if I take control of all 30 teams at the beginning of the season to set the line-ups and control any ridiculous CPU trades, will it then allow me to trade any player of mine with another teams. Ex. Omar Visquel for Josh Hamilton. Or will the CPU still reject it and I can leave it at that. Also is it possible to set all other controls for CPU teams to automatic and just monitor possible trades? Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

Yeah, you'll want to have two Settings. One will be for the team you control, put as many things on manual as you want. The other setting will be for the teams you don't play with, put their options on Auto (including trading). That way they'll trade with you and each other, and they'll be able to reject trades you propose.

Depending how realistic u are.... Josh Willingham for OF.....Mark Reynolds for 3B, Aaron Hill for 2B, or Chris Iannetta for C.....all solid but unspectacular guys that u wouldn't have to give up the farm for

Thank you for the help. Toronto was in town on opening weekend and they had Edwin Encarnacion as their DH so going through the teams willing to take on Hafner I thought they were the best fit to try and make a deal with.

                          Toronto Gets:
                          (1B/DH) Travis Hafner (B)(34yo)(C-OVR)

                          Cleveland Gets:
                          (RP) Carlos Villanueva (C)(28yo)(C-OVR)
                          (SP) Justin Nicolino (B)(20yo)(D-OVR)

Really was looking for a older prospect and really a B RP to build up since you thought I could snag a B realistically, but I like Villanueva and if needed anything now it was a LRP so went with him.

Good trade? I want to keep things realistic, but I just don't know enough about minors and their trade value as I pretty much just know MLB players and ow good those guys are in real life. I do think I got a bit too young of a B guy, but meh. They would have given me Drabek lol.....
