Im just starting a serious franchise since the deadline rosters came out. Im playing as Washington and I would love to pick up a 4th starter that isn't going to cost me 8 million after the first season like Edwin Jackson. Any suggestions on a 4th starter I can trade for with a package of Edwin Jackson and 1 of my closers (Storen or Clippard) I would be willing to throw in a B prospest like Destin Hood or Brian Goodwin as well.

I simmed 2012 with post trade deadline rosters, and both Beckett and Lincecum struggled with 5+ ERAs. Would a winter trade of Beckett, an A potential 20 year old shortstop (Xander Bogarts), and Brandon Allen (free agent acquisition) for Lincecum be fair? I'm playing the Sox.
If not, any other ideas to get rid of Beckett?Last edited by ckwbff; 08-03-2012, 02:25 AM.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Sorry, I made a mistake before. I forgot that it was the second season of my franchise which means Fowler is NOT eligible for arbitration and will be hitting the FA market.
I'm tempted to try re-sign him afterwards but I don't know how much he will cost. I think I can take around 5-6 mil with him and potentially trade him when his deal is almost up. But no idea how much he will cost to resign.
I thought about trading:
1B Brett Wallace
SP Jacob Turner
OF Michael Brantley
All three would be starters for them. Might be giving up a bit too much for him? Especially if I can't resign him this offseason?
Also thought about going after M. Cabrera from the Giants. They are loaded with outfielders in my game and their lineup is just brutal to try pitch through. (A bit off topic but they have 4 switch hitters and 4 lefties that crush Righty pitching. They destroyed me our last series.)
How much could he cost?
2013: 263 AB, .281 BA, 7 HR, 27 RBI at the trade deadline
2012: 552 AB, .263 BA, 10 HR, 55 RBI
Under team control for an additional season at 1.91 mil
Giants are 13 games out of the division
Giants also have... RF Schierholtz, CF Gary Brown (B OVR, A Pot), LF Aubrey Huff, LF, Scott HairstonComment

SP Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, Jurrjens, High A Prospect
CP Wilson
C Posey
1B K. Morales
2B K. Johnson
3B P. Sandoval
SS R. Furcal (2012 + 2013 All Star)
OF.... Mentioned before
I thought trading Melky for a good starting 2B with several high prospects would make sense for their team? I don't think they are going to be missing his bat as much if they can build for the future. I guess looking through the other teams, there are others with deeper outfields but the Giants aren't too bad I think. Keep in mind, Schierholts is rated higher in game at this point than Melky. Using a pre-season roster which doesn't have Melky hitting 20+ HR in a season, much less by the AS-BreakLast edited by stlcards234; 08-03-2012, 02:22 AM.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Melky is their spot OF starter with the 4th highest amount of AB of the ones I mentioned. I know he is definitely a guy to build around in most cases. But what could it take for me to acquire him? Their lineup is pretty stacked overall.

Lincecum isn't worth an A when his ERA was 5 + last season. Beckett would be a throw in anyways with his 5+ ERAComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I did end up getting Brett Cecil and a good reliever in James Frasor. The 'double plus side' to it all is that I didn't have to give up much for them. All I had to do was trade away a B potential pitching prospect and Tim Byrdak. However, I don't think Colby Rasmus (the other player I got in the Brett Cecil trade) is gonna help me in the long run. I'll probably send him off in a package with another player or 2 for either Delmon Young, Denard Span or David DeJesus. However, I don't know what other players I want to send with Rasmus.MLB 12 The Show Mets Franchise: 75-87 (Year 1)

Melky would cost maybe one of Brantly and Wallace, and a C prospect.
Guys, what do you think Neil Walker would cost if the Pirates are out of it?"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Headed into the off season with the Indians. I'm thinking about not resigning Travis Hafner. I've got Carlos Santana, be he just doesn't cut it for me.
I need an upgrade at third, so i thought about this:
Indians get David Wright
Mets get Carlos Santana and Fausto Carmona
I would appreciate anyone's opinion. The Positive Sports Podcast~~~Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do~~~Ignore The Negativity, Be The PositivityComment
