Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I started a Yankees franchise a couple of days ago, but I hate Mark Teixeira (long standing hatred, even before he left the Angels for more money).

So this was one of the better deals I got for him:
Phillies get Mark Teixeira, Yankees get Ryan Howard and Jim Thome.

Now, I know that Howard is a year older than Tex, and is injured for the first month+ of the season, but this is how I justified the move:

Lefties Howard and Thome are going to see significant boost to their power numbers inside Yankee Stadium (and a few of the other AL East parks, for that matter), and Thome can DH as soon as Howard comes off the DL (even though he has been playing more than adequate first base for me the first week of the season). Plus, I saved some money, as Tex has one of the biggest contracts in the game.

I probably could have tried to shop Tex around some more, but it would have been difficult, seeing as most teams aren't looking to add that much salary.

Speaking of SD there's Jason Bartlett who's definitely available. You looking for a starter as a stopgap for this season until Pastornicky or Simmons might be ready next year? If so, I think Bartlett fits the mold.

Venable and Bartlett for Jurrjens and a prospect

(if you're looking for other stopgap names, go back a few posts to see potential middle infielders)

That's a good call as well. You could ask for Gyorko, Rincon or Darnell as a filler along with Venable.

I have a thing for Robbie Erlin...I like his style of pitching given he's only 5'11 and being that dominant. Only adds to his value that he's a lefty

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I am looking to get a young "Ace" or near ace pitching player.

Some guys that came to mind:

            Michael Pineda
            Josh Johnson
            David Price
            Matt Cain

I'm sure there are plenty of others. I realize that getting some of these guys would not be realistic but that is okay.

I am the Twins. My untouchables are Miguel Sano, Mauer and Morneau.

Everyone else on the team is fair game. Also, I did sign Jorge Soler so keep that in mind.

What would it take to get a young ace or near ace pitcher? Thanks

Padres would be more willing to give up either Darnell or Rincon than Gyorko

Pineda would be gone if the Twins offered Mauer, but you won't get a YOUNG ACE without any of those 3. If you are willing to take an older player, Wandy Rodriguez comes to mind, or even signing Roy Oswalt. With enough prospects I imagine that if the Dodgers are out of it they might listen to offers for Billingsley, perhaps your top three prospects other than Sano? If they Indians aren't doing great I would think the same or even a touch less for Masterson. However the easiest one to get would be Matt Garza the cubs would take Eddie Rosario, Liam Hendricks, and maybe Levi Michael for Garza.

I'm the Red Sox and I would love to have an elite catcher so I'm wondering what would be fair (not realistic) for Posey?

As the Red Sox I want to do this trade. Is it fair?

                      Lars Anderson 24 y/o 1B B pot.
                      For
                      Chris Parmlee 24 y/o 1B B pot.

Can't hit w/ Anderson. Both players are smashing the ball.

In my Mariners 'chise I'm thinking that trading King Felix might would allow me to upgrade the overall quality of my roster.

Question is this: what would be a solid outgoing package including Hernandez, and what would kind of haul could I try for coming back? I'd like to at least get some pitching and a bat.

If your going to trade Felix you can easily get back a solid young mlb player and 2 A prospects i think. But to be realistic you kindof have to look at big market teams only...
