Going strictly by numbers, I agree with Totte as well.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I don't have a problem with either of the trade suggestions, but you know that he will develop into an ace/one of the best pitchers in the league. At the end of 2013 that makes him 26? Pitchers don't generally hit their peak until late 20's early 30's wouldn't you say?Denver Broncos

Yeah but this is an interesting case... Is there a precedent for it?"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

One that I thought of:
Zach Greinke in '05?
5-17, 5.80 ERA, .309 AVG, 1.56 WHIP
Greinke did play for the Royals though, and I believe he was only 22 at this time. I thought it was a somewhat similar situation though.Denver Broncos

No, that's like Henderson Alvarez with the Jays this year... they're still young enough to be prospects. Hellickson is 4 years older than that.
Ricky Romero is a comparable, actually! And I doubt he has much value right now."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The Rays would probably have more of a "win now" attitude than the Royals (to say the least).
Isn't Romero 3 years older than Hellickson? Romero does have similar stats to the examples though.Denver Broncos

Yea it's a solid comparison. I was looking for more of a past example of someone who turned out to very good. Romero could turn out to be very good but you never know.
One thing we do know is Hellickson is going to be a premier SP in a couple of years (in the game).Denver Broncos

I'm not sure... I'm going to see what my draft pick is in terms of potential. Lawrence Marcus? He's a power hitting OF, just what the Rays need, and he's a B, just not sure what kind of B."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What was Hellickson like the year before? If he was solid, I doubt the Rays would trade him after one bad year when his value is at its lowest.
If he was terrible the year before as well, I would say Mid B, low B.
I also have a question involving the Rays as well. I'm in the year 2015. Would it be realistic at all for the Rays to trade David Price? They are last in the AL East midway through June. He's in his 3rd year of a 6 year, roughly 70 million dollar deal.
Also, their farm system is bone dry. They have no A's and their only two B's are Tim Beckham and Chris Archer.
If it would be realistic for Price to be traded, what would the price be? I'm thinking at least an A and two BsComment
