Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

      What are the values of:
      Alex Gordon (he's been a real headache for me. 2012 - .246/15/69 in 540. 2013 - bounced back with .299/30/115. Current as of July 2 - .220/11/43
Lorenzo Cain - Not needed with Dyson (leads majors in steals and batting .275) and Myers (my cleanup hitter). Been used at defensive replacement
Escobar - this guy is so up and down the whole season and I would like a better contact hitter/fielder since Giavotella can't fully be trusted either.

Not sure if I'm in sell mode being 5.5 back at the start of July.

So with those players, what can I get back in terms of rebuilding OR going for the playoffs? I guess with Gordon, I would like an MLB ready shortstop or someone a year away, OR a star contact hitter/fielder to put 2nd in the lineup. I was thinking of Gordon and Escobar for Andrus and if you all could help me and who else could be thrown in.

Current starting rotation is: Lester, Zim, Duffy, Odorizzi and Zimmer (who went up to an A) so I don't think I need pitching unless I throw in Zimmer, Lamb, Mont for a younger prospect as well?

Thanks for the help, as I feel I'm learning more and more thanks to you guys

What teams are in contention and could use an outfielder (Gordon) and shortstop (Escobar)? Initial thought was the Yankees as Gordon could be a fit in RF and Escobar replacing Jeter once he's retired (or did he retire already in your chise?). The Cardinals comes to mind as well but it's hard to come up with specific names to target in return when we don't need the teams that are in contention.

        I'd put Gordon at 2 mid B's. Escobar at 1 low B and one 1 mid C. Cain is a low B or 3 high C's.

Doubt the Rangers would trade for Gordon AND Escobar even if they're dumping Andrus on you since he'd be moved to open up a spot for Profar at SS. If you value Profar as MLB ready for Texas, I guess Gordon, Cain and one of your pitching prospects (high C maybe?) could work for Andrus and someone like Gentry (mid-high C)

Profar is playing 2nd and Kinsler moving to OF. TEX wouldn't do it realistically. Cards would for Adams or Piscotty but no pitching. Maybe even MCarpenter.

The usual suspects are in contention.

            1st place teams are:
            Rangers
            Tigers/Indians tied
            Yankees with Rays 2 gb.

            For the west:
Dbacks with SF and LA 4 and 5 gb respectively
Reds with Pirates in 2nd and ahead in Wildcard
MIA with Phils 2.5 back and WSH and ATL 4.0 back.
So the wildcard is super close with teams 2-6 behind by only 2.5 - 3 gb.

The best fits I noticed are MIA and TEX

MIA is using a D ovr at 2nd and Yelich in the LF
TEX's holes are that they're using Gentry, Engel Beltre and Leonys in LF and CF.

The Cards do need an OF but they are 48-44 9.5 back in div and 3.5 in WC, so I don't know if that counts as contending.

Another good fit for an SS maybe, are the Pirates who are using an underperforming D'Arnaud. Maybe Escobar for Harrison?

Dodgers beat writer Dylan Hernendez says JP Arencibia, David Cooper and Deck McGuire are rumoured to be the pieces could be headed to the Dodgers for Andre Eithier.

              If this is true...

THAT would be a fun day to be a Jays fan.

Wow! If that does happen, I'll be a fan of the BJ's on opening day 2013 ONLY (as well as the BoSox).
                Spoiler

It would be sweet if the BoSox got Willingham, though I doubt it.

Crawford, Kemp, Ethier, someone I forget for whatever reason, and they're interested in Hamilton... one of Crawford/Ethier is gone IMO and Ethier could fetch more back in return while Crawford could be extremely good facing a.) not as good pitching as the AL East and b.) Not being a power hitter in the West.

Yeah I'd like to know where you read that. MLBTR and Dylan haven't mentioned that yet. The only real news concerning Ethier was that they were finding a righty hitting OF to platoon for him and to be a filler till Crawford is healthy.

A Jays fan said that he mentioned it.

It's such a rip off that I don't think it even deserves to be a rumor.

Seeing as how the Indians are looking for young starters and are listening on Asdrubal, do you guys think a Henderson Alvarez/Deck McGuire/+ for Asdrubal Cabrera would work?

Possibly, if you can get Antonetti's head out of his arse. Their dream scenario (and something I see working out) is Cabrera and Donald for Bauer (D-Backs). What do you think?
