Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

NFG, what should I be giving up to get Reyes from the Marlins given that...

I'm at the end of the 2013 season.

    Reyes hit .282/6/41 in 2012.

    He's hitting .258/.337/.385 this year.

    He's hitting .237 against righties.

He'll only be 30 next year.

    30-2 SB/CS ratio.

    Just a 2.89 RF/game.

And obviously, as usual, the Marlins are in last place.

He's only playing against lefties right now. (Hitting .237 against righties, CPU platooning him)

            Valdez- Who?
Hamilton- What year are you in? If you're in 2012 he's untouchable.

Any ideas on what to do with a Gavin Floyd with a 6.75 ERA? I looked at doing a Guthrie/Sanchez type swap but those types of pitchers just have much worse ratings than Floyd. Floyd is out of options and considering he should be a pretty solid #3, I don't want to give him up for absolutely nothing. I could just wait and see if he bounces back.

I was thinking of sending him to HOU for Wandy along with some prospects? They would save 2 mil this year and 7 mil the next. Wandy is having an average year for him, 3.90ish ERA.

If I felt like getting Lowrie who HOU does not want to trade unless they are overwhelmed--what do you think would constitute overwhelming them?

Floyd would get you a low C with those stats.

I don't think they give up Lowrie without Hawkins being in the deal.

You did see where I said "along with some prospects, right?" My initial thought was Floyd, Trayce Thompson (think mid-high B Marisnick), and Nestor Molina (high B) for Wandy & Lowrie.

James Shields has an ERA around 5. What would it take to get him?

yeah i read ur complete statement....if Houston was in a playoff race, they wuddnt give up a halfway decent Wandy to be stuck with a bad Floyd...and if they're well out of it, they wuddnt want prospects at the expense of Floyd being forced upon them

Shields wouldn't cost much. Low B and a high C?

Yeah, they are more out of it than Hunter Thompson in Las Vegas. They make the irl Astros look GOOD

Yeah, mine! Instead, I have non-performing Floyd taking up a valuable roster spot! He is 1yr/5.75 mil and Wandy is 2/7.75. That is why I thought they would put up with Floyd fora couple months if I sweetened the pot--sorta like HOU paying most of his salary the next two years to get a low A/mid-high B/C for him this past year. I'm just going to see how some of the kids fare and if Floyd turns it around by the waiver deadline. He is in mop up duties right now.

I'm not fond of Shields and don't see TB giving him up that cheap. There isn't a lot out there for me realistically to go after. The only teams truly out of playoff contention and not in my division are the Brewers, Astros, Pirates, Marlins, Rays and Mariners. Plus, my team is so thin that I can't go after Greinke, Annibal, et al or suck like Vargas (sorry Vargas or any M's fans reading this). I could realistically get Wandy or sign Ben Sheets but I have no room with Floyd & Humber out of options and Floyd SHOULD theoretically do better than Sheets (ratings in game).
