    Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

Started my Royals MoM over after the patch (was just 6 games in)...I was a little worried after reading several people talking about the offense was so much stronger now. After a 3-5 OD loss, Game #2 I won 1-0 in 12 innings Needless to say the variety looks the same to me as before patch.

Finally beat the Halos after 3 losses in my prepatch franchise too

Quick question for you guys, when pitching do you guys micro-manage every pitch? High-Inside-low, pitch aggressive, pitch at batter etc... or do you just hit the circle button? I usually hit the circle button and let whatever happens happen, I only use pitch at batter or pitch aggressive when there is a pitcher or lesser hitter up.

I do not, with the exception of some 0-2/1-2 counts where I'll "Pitch Around." But even then I do this rarely.

          Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

          Just a heads up:

On the Vita, L + Left on the D-Pad seems to work for hit and runs. Runners were advancing multiple bases unprompted when manually selecting it from the OSD menu after a successful steal of 2nd bases (trying to steal 3rd on the very next pitch).

          However...

On the Vita, L + [] for a straight steal of 1st to 2nd seems to be forcing the baserunner to take 3rd unprompted on the very next pitch. Ugh...do for THIS I think you need to use the OSD menu (and elect to steal with the specific player).

Just got CG'd SHO by Lincecum in my DBacks-SF game. He was on point and Buster's arm killed most our rallies. Playing a 30 team control, MOMing all the interesting games I see (one per schedule day). It's gonna be fun!

Quick question for you guys (actually two) - how long does it take to get through a MOM game on the Vita, and do knights rosters work on the Vita?

              Thanks in advance!

The Vita games are much quicker. 45 minutes or so I would say.
My PS3 MoM games can go well over an hour.

In franchise news....looks like giving the unlikely guy the chance paid off for me again in my series finale with Philly!
Down a run in the eigth, I left in C Mike Nickeas to bat against the RHP Michael Stutes. I had Thole and Baxter on the bench as my left handed batting options and Rob Johnson C as another catcher as well, so the "obvious" choice was to pinch hit, right?
I left Nickeas in...and he hit a double in the gap to plate two for the go ahead. It was his first hit of the year(12 AB's)
Francisco has been seriously solid for me 4 for 4 in save op's .....0.00 ERA.
The same goes for Joh Rauch who is mowing them down for me out of the pen.

Great, thanks for the info. I just ordered a Vita, The Show, and a 16 gig card based on this info. Looking forward to getting it tomorrow from Amazon.

                    11 K's? Nice.

I'm asking this specifically for a person over in the slider threads that had an issue with Lincecum and MOM/CPU K's...

                    What are your sliders?

Nomo's. It's all I'd ever use for MOM.

Have yet to play another one, but I'm thinking Reds/Marlins.

                        Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I'm having a blast with my Reds. They are tied in first with the Brewers at 20-15. The Cardinals are knocking on the door, though, with a good team ERA and th Pirates are suprisingly hovering near the .500 mark. Astros suck as they always do. And, the Cubs? Well, ain't no former Red Sox GM gonna' save their butts, lol!!!!! Jay Bruce has really been struggling for me, he absolutely can not hit RHP, so I have him on the trade block as I don't really have a suitable OF to platoon with him. Arodis Chapman is on the block, too, really because though his K/BB ratio is good I need SP badly and he just doesn't have the stamina. (I don't believe in editing the ratings) The Reds bullpen is very solid, and right now Homer Bailey is doing a fine job of teaming up with Chapman for games. For whatever reason Homer is solid out of the bullpen, but when he starts he has little command of his pitches. As in real life with the Reds, they don't have anyone to really put between Votto and Bruce, and there really isn't anyone else on their team to protect them, so I decided to jettison Latos (but the team hid Dallas in a locker) in a trade for Andrew Jones, and my oh my has the dynamic of the lineup changed. Now, it's common for Votto, Bruce or Jones to step up to the plate with RISP. Votto hit a game-ending grand slam in GABP the other day and just hit a 3-run HR (with 5 RBI's total) in his last game, and Jones hit a 3-run shot. The 'little things' in this game are amazing. It wasn't until my last game that I had seen a runner completely clobber the fielder at second base to break up a double play, and I had the pleasure of seeing Brandon Phillips slide about ten feet or so on his butt across a muddy home plate. When he got up he had mud all over him, that was in Atlanta's stadium, it appeared to have just rained before the game.

Like....if you set the IF for DP depth, then want to move the OF(any way)...it sets the IF back to normal?
That was something that was a problem last year, so I'll ask Aaron if he could look into that.
It may just be that they only allow one manager input per play.

                          Knight,
Just wondering if you heard anything on this issue. This has cost me several runs and just cost me a game in my franchise. Was leading by two in the bottom of the ninth with two out, trying to close it out. Had two runners on and wanted to go to a no doubles defense. First I shifted my IF to guard lines then changed my OF depth to deep...of course this ended up resetting my IF to normal. What do you know, Ichiro hits a grounder down the first base line just inside the bag for a double that would've been an easy groundout for the third out if my IF adjustment would've stuck. Both runners score to tie, next batter gets a hit, Ichiro scores to win it.

I love that they have the manage only function, but it is in need of a lot work. You can't choose more than one option on defense. As you described, you can't choose guard lines and outfield deep. You have to choose one or the other. Very frustrating. Almost as bad as the players stealing and bunting on their own.

Hopefully, if enough people voice some concerns and the devs see more people than they think play this way, we can see some changes. Maybe one day we can manage BOTH teams without CPU intervention. That's what I want the most.

                                Even in regular play.
The only difference is you can set selective defenses, something I wish you could do in MoM
