 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

One thing I'd like to see addressed in next year's game if possible. When you have runners at 1st and 3rd and your pitcher is up, you should be able to move the guy up to 2nd with a sacrifice bunt without getting a cheap run. This causes a dilemma for me because I don't want my pitcher to hit into a DP but I know if I sacrifice my runner will score 100% of the time.Comment

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I know, there are a lot of improvements that should be made to this mode. A "real" pickoff move-not just always a lazy throw to first...***nners running on their own and batters bunting on their own should be done away with-and the ability to set both infield AND outfield positions at the same time. I'd like to see a pitching coach give me input as to how a reliever looks-more than just a "ready" bar above his name.Comment

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I also noticed a few situations that are out of your control, for instance, I had a runner on second and the pitcher up and it automatically has him bunt, there are times I want my pitcher to swing away and this sorta thing should be left up to us. Overall I love the mode but there definitely needs to be improvementsPlaystation Network:That70s_Gamer

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I think Knight mentioned this maybe last year...
I glanced through this thread and didn't see it posted this year, so if this has been said and I missed it, my bad.

But, I would like to see changes to the interface when giving in-put to pithces and other things. At the moment, you press x, choose pitcher, run through few more menu's before choosing a pitch location. If they could clean this up so that one button push could get us back to live action instead of having to back out of every screen we just went through.

Would speed up games a little, plus for me, make things more user friendly!Comment

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

Is it just me, or does the A.I. seem to use age discrimination against anyone but starters in somewhat critical situations when playing in manage mode.

 Examples of what I mean:
Mariano Rivera is a great closer in sim mode, but when I play manage mode, he gets shelled or at least beat up almost everytime on the mound as closer.
Regardless of their fielding ratings (i.e. some of them have great fielding ratings), the 35 plus guys make more errors than anyone else, especially in crucial situations. If it's late in the game, they are the weakest link.
Age 35ish+ A and B rated setup relievers just stink... 7+ ERA. (Yes I know how to use a reliever lefty-righty stuff, etc.)

Am I the only one who is having these things happen?
It isn't that they are playing with high fatigue and causing it to happen more, unless the game factors in 35ish + year olds as being arthiritic and unable to perform in critical situations. Because, regardless of their A and B rated abilities, my old guys just fail when chips are down.
So I'm wondering if their is a hidden code in the game against them.
I'm starting to dump them in trades as best I can.Comment

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

I don't think it's age... I don't think age factors in in any ways.

As for closers, I'd bet Craig Kimbrel sucks just as much as Mariano does in the game. It's just that the game isn't simulating very well how relievers perform. A closer often comes in with a mediocre confidence level. Once he starts falling behind, he can go down hill like a snow ball, without ever having a chance to regain confidence. Mariano perhaps isn't one of them, but many closers belong to "wild but dominant" type and it's a type of pitchers the game doesn't necessarily simulate very well yet. Just my opinion...

 OMG I just checked Kimbrel's real life stats and he's crazy good!!! 0.686 WHIP and 15.9 K/9??? Wow.......Last edited by nomo17k; 07-17-2012, 11:48 PM.Comment

 Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

So I restarted my franchise with the Braves yesterday. I'm managing the game and we end up going to extra innings tied at 2. My highlight player was Bourn with a homer and leadoff triple. He provided the offense as he scored both runs. But he gets on late with a walk, So with his speed and no outs I have him steal 2nd. Not a big deal but he ends up on third and McCann on first with 1 out. And out of nowhere with Uggla up at the plate, They put on the squeeze bunt play and Uggla misses it by a mile in the dirt and Bourn just tramples over the catcher at home while Uggla stands there and he's out. Then Uggla flied out to end the inning.

Is there anyway around this so my team doesn't squeeze like that? I mean first pitch of his at bat and bam, Rally over. We lost in the next inning I think on a rbi double. I know in extra innings you need to score anyway you can but not having Uggla bunt. We lost in the next inning I think on a rbi double. Re: Manage Only Sub-Thread

Yeah, the frequency of squeeze plays has a lot to be desired... I was playing RTTS with a speedster who often bats at the top of the lineup, and too often guys in the middle of the lineup asked to squeeze... yes, it was with the Astros but you don't want to do that with only legit power threats on your team. Happens way too often, even in the first inning!!!So I restarted my franchise with the Braves yesterday. I'm managing the game and we end up going to extra innings tied at 2. I think the common adjustment suggested is to lower (Drug) Bunt ratings across the board. I haven't tested this myself, but Knight suggested that this reduces the number of bunt attempts.Last edited by nomo17k; 07-30-2012, 01:27 PM.Comment
