What I'm talking about is something objective, not subjective. Fielder speed is way too fast on default sliders, which is what pretty much everyone is saying, and the evidence is 100% there. If you want fielders to be too fast in your game, then that's fine. But why post saying default is realistic in pretty much every regard when it's not. You might like the game on default but many things aren't very realistic on default either like fielder speed and relievers being able to pitch every game.

Actually it is pretty subjective - but I know enough not to get into a back and forth with someone intent on using exaggerations to prove their point.

It's kinda of hard to tell someone, "look at your doubles stats, they are very realistic" when they just got thrown out at 2nd on standard gapper.

Still waiting on that video on a ball hit to the gap. Story keeps flip-flopping so I can't keep track. Are we discussing the gap or down the line?

It's objective, compare game tape of your favorite outfielder to how fast he is in The Show. There's a HUGE difference. Also, if you notice in real baseball, the baserunner gets to 1st base before the OF gets to the ball on balls in the gap or down the line, but not in The Show. EVERYONE who adjusts sliders has LOWERED fielder speed, you are the odd one out, not me. Even in the video you posted of a real baseball long single, the runner got to 1st base before the OF got to the ball. Most doubles in real baseball have the baserunner halfway to 2nd base before the OF gets to the ball, but not in The Show. I don't play on default sliders so I'm not going to record a video of a long gap single. Plus, even if I did, you'd just post that video of a long single in the gap again and say it happens in real life and The Show is perfect with it's depiction of OF speed. It's a no win situation really. The only way I could win is doing a side by side comparison of game tape to The Show footage, and then you'd probably say SCEA got that OF's speed rating wrong or something.

Thinking of dropping fielder speed down to zero myself. I'm currently at 1, and I very rarely see instances of lofted hits drop into the outfield before the fielder gets there.

I've never had an opportunity or reason to do a diving catch, either I'm under it by running alone or it's hit for a homerun. The CPU is even quicker in this regard.

I also see balls getting in between the SS and 3B for singles.

I don't play on default sliders so I'm not going to record a video of a long gap single. Plus, even if I did, you'd just post that video of a long single in the gap again and say it happens in real life and The Show is perfect with it's depiction of OF speed. It's like because you have an opinion, and say a dozen or so people agree (and this goes for every subject you rant on about over the years...), it's suddenly an epidemic and everyone and their brother is having the exact same problem.

I'm not saying a lot of people don't bitch about run speed. They do. But holy smokes, the part I quoted above is so cryptic. As if me and Pared or anyone that disagrees with you don't genuinely know or watch or understand real life MLB baseball. Like we must be blind for loving this game out of the box because if we had ever seen a real game, we would HAVE to agree with you.

You literally have been going on and on, asking people to watch real game footage like we don't spend weekends doing this already.

My suggestion is play the game with sliders at default. The game plays great out of the box. Any adjustment that you make will impact parts of the game.

I find that I get doubles with people that should, on hits that deserve them.

Am I over reacting here ? I feel like Im getting thrown out far too often taking second on a ball hit to the wall in the gap and down the line in the corner. Just as a quick example Bautista hit a two hopper to the wall in the RCF gap and was easily thrown out at second on the relay throw. And Thames, one of the best runners on the team couldnt even stretch a ball hit into the corner into a double.

I kinda feel any ball hit to the RCF gap is a double for anyone in the league most times. Especially when it gets down for a couple hops and is played off the wall by the fielder.

My sliders are default BTW and this happened in Sky Dome more often I play my games here. Maybe a dimension of the park thing ? I dont want to go messing with the sliders if this is an anomaly.

I play on default and do not see this an issue at all. It has to be a bang-bang play, and those happen. But I've yet to see one of my hitters (or throw out a hitter) at second on a ball that hits the wall. It takes just about everything for me to not allow them to get to third.

i have the perfect sliders for this. this hasnt been an issue for me since i last tweaked my sliders (3-4 weeks ago). i rarely (and i mean RARELY) get thrown out at second on a double. the only way for that to happen is if it was Konerko, Soto or some slow sob like that lol.

EDIT* -- and even Konerko and Soto would have a shot at reaching. i'd say a 50/50 or 40/60 depending on the outfield.

I would recommend looking at the sliders that are posted in the slider forum. Each of the first seven slider sets adjust all or some of fielder speed, reaction, arm strength and baserunner speed.

You will see more doubles, infield hits and broken up double plays.

If you watch a real game and watch The Show, there's a huge difference. I don't understand why I have to prove something that's so obvious. After watching the opening week of baseball, fielder speed at 0 is still too fast. Just tonight, I saw a fly ball ball that Nyjer Morgan couldn't get to was hit just left of center, it wasn't what I would call a blooper either, that would've been caught in The Show. The OFs run too fast you go straight left or right with them. When they go back, then their speed is realistic. That doesn't make sense because I played outfield and I can run just as fast back as I can to the left or right.

I saw the game and it's because Wrigley has probably about the shortest dimensions to the power alleys, it's down the line that is deeper than normal.

I love the rationalizing and backtracking - it's pretty amusing. Again - you made the claim you can't get a double on a hit to the gap, then started whining about fielder speed, hits down the line, etc. after the fact. I asked you to provide video of a hit in the gap where you don't get a double and you have yet to do this, but you have offered plenty of "if you watch baseball" comments.

However it makes me wonder. If an OF is trying to throw a guy out at second on a double, you have to assume he has a good arm. If he has a good arm shouldn't he go over the cut off man?

Are there ever any relays in MLB to get a get out at second?

I can get down with examples and discussions like this rather than the extremist comments.

In your example, many things could have happened:

-The CPU may have missed the branch point for throwing. I don't think it's the case.
-OF was playing deep. Tough to see from that angle.
-Don't think this is the case, but a feet first slide may have had him in there. I think it's better than a head first slide in that situation (sweep tag).
-Maybe there wasn't a smooth transition when going from first to second?

I would be interested to see that play again to see if the result is the same. That's not something that is easy to do on the console but the devs can do it. We do it for hours at community day to make sure the balance is there.
