Re: Freezing issues after the new patch (Exhibition, Franchise and RTTS)

I'm having a completely different set of freezing issues now. I was playing RTTS and burned through 7 or 8 games in about 30-45 minutes as a RF. I start another game and, about 6-7 innings in, something weird with the sound happens. Mid-pitch the announcers are just cut-off. I'm still hearing crowd noise and game noise like the ball hitting the bat and the ball popping the glove, etc. I finish the game and, on the screen after you exit where it shows you your players stats it just freezes.

I turn it off, do something else for a few hours, comeback and try playing a franchise game. Same thing happens but this time I can't even finish the game. I get to the 9th inning and lose announcer sound again. A minute or two later it just freezes with a hitter in the batter's box.

I have no idea if this is patch-related or disc related right now. I'm going to try a few things and see if I can figure it out.

I have yet to hear of that problem. I remember on MLB 11 I had all sorts of freezing issues but that was usually in the off-season during arbitration or in the roster management screen. Bad thing was that I could never find any info about it. I posted on here a couple of times about it and searched and found no answers. Really sucked not being able to play more than 1 season. I haven't had those issues so far this year but I also haven't played a full season yet and gotten into the off-season.

I know none of that helps you out but just thought I would put it out there that it could possibly be a disc problem.

Yeah, it's not a game freezing issue. It's my PS3. I got the dreaded "80010514" error which appears to be the same as the "Red Rings of Death" for Xbox 360. After four good years my PS3 finally crapped out on me. I restarted my system, rebuilt the hard-drive, tried doing a file restore, and even did a complete system restore. Nothing worked. It just won't read discs anymore and, after some Google research, the only fix (if file restore didn't work) is to either send it in to get fixed (for probably $100-$150) or get a new one.

That wouldn't even matter. The problem is that the post-patch PS3 game and the pre-patch Vita game are incompatible with each other because they have different schedules, which causes the freezing.

To my knowledge no, the cloud is the only method for sharing saves in the game. I could be wrong? This is just how I understood it to work.

Either way, as the guy above posted, one version has the fixed schedule and one doesn't, so that's where there is potential for even more issues to pop up here.

SCEA really dropped the ball on this one. As someone said earlier, the issues that were created here were things several of us saw almost immediately after patch release.

I love the game, I love the interaction with the devs, but this little snafu has made me a not very happy camper.
Do we have any reason to think the Vita won't get the same patch, thus eliminating this issue?

What are the chances a patch will be released to fix these problems? Is it better to just start a new franchise?

why wouldn't it? don't patch the ps3 version.

I don't see why you couldn't put the saves on your pc via usb stick and then transfer them over to your vita's memory card. better to try it than sitting there crying.

It probably would. I don't own a Vita, so I can't confirm this, but if someone could that would be great, as it would add an entire new dimension to the workaround, since this is really the one important thing you can't do at the moment.

This is just speculation on my part - but in regards to the patch Vita/PS3,
there were a lot of "fixes" in the patch for things/modes that are not even on the Vita.
I assumed playing a Franchise on the PS3 with the patch would change things like the schedule, it would be saved as such and thus transfer over along to the Vita. Or at least that was their intent.....
Kind of like how the OSFM roster, and slider sets can be downloaded on the PS3, become a part of the save/Franchise and transfer to the Vita without ever downloading them on the Vita. So I figured the patch "fixes" could be the same.

At this point I'm just going to wait until I hear some official word.
I appreciate the work done here, and the potential workaround.....but it looks like there still is some uncertainty, and some freezes outside of the norm. I'm already bummed as it is, so I don't want to play more games and find out I still have some sort of issue, or mistakenly change the team/schedule causing a freeze, lose my ability to play on the Vita, etc. It really is ridiculous.

First thing to try is make sure your disk is clean and not scratched at all. If that is fine then try another game to see if there are any problems, if not then it might be the disk, but if any other games give you trouble then it could be the PS3. It just might have some dust in it or something.

I need some help from someone that's more knowledgeable about this kind of stuff than me. I'm referring to this quoted post I made last night. My PS3 crapped out and, after doing some more reading on what exactly the 80010514 error is, it appears it's a firmware issue. There was something corrupt on my hard-drive and, even after doing a file restore, my PS3 just wouldn't read any game I tried.

What I'm getting at is, would the patch be a firmware issue? Or is it something completely different? I'm nervous about downloading the patch when I get a new PS3.

Patch has nothing to do with the ps3 firmware. Unrelated.
