No I don't expect to him to hit for power at all... I'm talking about when he has been in a 2-1 count and get's a hittable pitch, I'm using normal swing and he is trying to punch them over the wall... He is hitting the ball hard, but they are deep fly balls. I'm using timing hitting.

so am i....little guy can rake....any power he gives me would be a bonus (he only as 1 hr nearing the end of May)....as long as he's hitting the ball hard, that's all u can ask for....maybe u should try bunting with him from to time to change it up a lil

I have 4 hrs with Altuve thru June, and as you have said I've never used power swing with him. All the homers have been 2-0, 3-1, 3-0 counts where I have swung at a hanging breaking pitch. Other than that he just pounds fastballs thru gaps.

yup...hit the gaps, draw walks, steal bases and play an above-average 2nd...if he can do that, he's deemed a success in my book

I cant hit with Altuve at all. He's hitting .240 with 1 hr for me. What stance do you guys use for him? I think I changed his stance to Erick Aybar's at the start of the season.

BTW I'm using pure analog hitting and all star difficulty.

So i just lost the 1st game of the series v the Cards. Lyles gave up 2 runs in the first 2 innings, but later went on to pitch 8 innings of 2 run ball and 5 K's. Carpenter pitched 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run with 10 K's. I was only able to get 4 hits, and currently only Lee is hitting above .300 (.306).

I'm 9.5 games back from the race through July 4th. Should I start selling my players (Lee, Wandy, Lyons, and Myers) or wait a bit more? Teams interested in Lee would be the Nationals (1st place leading by 1 game and LaRoche batting in the low .200s) and the Orioles (3 games back in wild card with Davis hitting .199). The Tigers are the most likely spot for Wandy as they are 2 games back in their division with awful starting pitching.

i'm using whatever stance the roster editors gave him....i'd start selling the old farts....hopefully they're performing decently so teams can realistically give u something of value in return

Lee was having a great season before his bat cooled off, he was batting .330 with 9 HR and 26 rbi as of the end of may, but now in 2 weeks his avg is down to .306 with same HR # and 31 rbi.
Im thinking of keeping him until the Allstar break hoping he will have another hot streak and make a team give me a better package than they would give me right now.
The same goes for Myers, hopefully he can get a few more appearances to lower his ERA.

As of Wandy he is definitely getting traded soon, he's starting the next gm v Wainwright and im hoping he has another solid start to solidify his status as a hot commodity pitcher to trade (ERA currently 3.21 with a bunch of IP and grea K to BB ratio).

contending teams would kill for a middle-of-the-order bat with a .300 avg with almost double-digit dingers and 30+ rbi's, 2 weeks into june....if ur presented with a good deal now, take it...if not then wait...just make sure u dont wait too long...i always have the *sell when the stock is still somewhat high* mentality cause what if Lee continues on his cold streak or even worse, gets injured for asignificant amount of time...the injury factor also applies to Wandy...i hate to be Mr.Negative but u gotta factor in those situations......i am curious tho....what are u realistically expectin to get for the guys ur lookin to trade away? what are Myers's numbers like atm?

I use the stance the roster guys gave him as well, I've found the best way to hit with Altuve is to not try an jump all over the ball unless it's meat. Wait back and hit it oppo into the gap or short right field. I get alot of doubles with him using that method.

                        From CBS
Singleton 'hanging in' at Double-A: Astros first base prospect Jonathan Singleton continues to make progress at Double-A Corpus Christi. Singleton is batting .298 with a .404 on-base percentage, .550 slugging percentage and .954 OPS in 53 games. He also has 11 homers, 11 doubles, 33 walks and 38 RBI. "I'm having rough times here and there, but I feel like I'm hanging in there," Singleton said. "I just try to hit the ball hard everywhere, not try to do too much."
                        (Updated 06/06/2012)

                        Fantasy Analysis
Singleton's biggest shortcoming is his inability to hit left-handers. He is batting just .190 in 58 at-bats against lefties this year. He does most of his damage against right-handed hurlers, so if Singleton ever puts it all together, then he is going to be a very dangerous hitter. Singleton is only 20 years old, so he still has time to develop. As of now, he continues to play at first base, but he might have to move to the outfield down the road if Brett Wallace ever lives up to his potential. Singleton remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper.

good stuff u pulled up....the part about his inability to hit lefties is not surprising at all although when i do promote him, he's gunna be hitting against lefties and righties...also the luxury of moving him to the outfield is enticing especially with that huge wall in left at MMP he wouldn't have to cover massive ground as long as i have a sure-handed speedster in CF

Yea moving him to the OF would be a good move probably.. especially because i just drafted another A potential 1st baseman. Although the way he has progressed in my franchise he doesn't have an issue with lefties really.

i hope i didnt rush him too quickly by starting him out at AAA....he's right around .300 although he's slackin a bit in the homer and rbi department...With Lee doing well at the major-league level, it'd be easier to leave Singleton in the minors for the entire 2012

Just landed an aboslute stud 18 year old 3b in the draft. A potential, high power, high contact, I should be able to call him up before long. I might just change him up to resemble Correa.
