Re: A trade acceptance/rejection thread idea

    To: Any interested GM's
    From: Baltimore Orioles GM

Subject: Mark Reynolds on the block

With our recent signing of Miguel Tejada and the MLB-readiness of Manny Machado we feel as if we have room to trade Mark Reynolds to improve other areas of our team.

Our positions of interest include SP (#3-5 type guy), OF, and 1B

Please consider any possible trade in which you would like to acquire Mark Reynolds and respond to us as soon as possible.

    Thanks!

Well if its a fair trade you won't need force trades on.

Sorry, QB -- I forgot you were a mod bro, wasn't sure if it was just "honorary or not." I'm sure Pete would be fine with it -- we've titled it the OS Arbitration Panel 2012... If you can change the thread name, I don't think there would be any reason for a duplicate thread once we were full, I just think it has a better chance of drawing attention and being useful to more people if we "highlight" it.

        Thanks, bud.

          Hey Johnny,

Tough loss last night in Philly, sorry to hear about it, good luck against the Phillies in the rest of this series.

To get to the point, I was interested in talking with you about second base prospect Kolten Wong. I'd like to propose to you the following exchange. In exchange for second baseman Kolten Wong, I will offer you catching prospect Carlos Perez as well as right-handed pitching prospect Deck McGuire. I realize you over at the Arch have lots of pitching prospects like Shelby Miller, Tyrell Jenkins, and Carlos Martinez. But, as the saying goes, you can never have too much pitching.

Don't eat too many cheesesteaks out there, the real ones are at Charlies Steakery at Sq. 1; next time you're up here, your first one's one me!

          Have a good one,

          ~Alex A.
I love the depth and the roleplay you are injecting to the project, wPA -- but just remember to address your TO's and FROM's: to the team as well as the real-life GM, just in case not everyone's knowledge goes as deep as yours.

It is refreshing to see this approach though... almost adds a RPG aspect to our own HUMAN v CPU franchises, and that's why I'm having so much fun.

Love this as well, as there are plenty of times you see people say "I need this position, what kinds of options can you think of?" And, of course -- anything that expands knowledge of what other organizations are thinking will make us all "better GM's"...

I'm not interested in him with my Tigers, but was still fun to read.

The honorary part was a rib by Millennium. To show my contempt, I'm keeping it.

As for the thread title, should it make reference to trades for clarity... maybe OS Trading Arbitration Panel? Your call, of course.

In most cases, I think you will be correct. But with the organizational philosophies "Normal/Rebuilding/Etc" under Team Overview in franchise, some teams wouldn't do a trade even if you gave them the moon and the stars for nothing. Some teams can't add salary, some will only take prospects, some will only take veterans.

While I would assume most trades that were negotiated here would be agreed to in game, I wouldn't say it's a 100% certainty...

Definitely sounds like fun, I am thinking of starting a Play 1 - Sim 5 franchise to go along with my Detroit "full play every pitch for 10 years" franchise, just to get a little deeper quicker in one and also play some NL games... man, am I glad I have a girlfriend who understands gaming and also can entertain herself when I play sometimes when she's over.

Either or is fine, I think either one would make a new reader go "Hmm, that sounds interesting, I wonder what that is.."

Been a while since I spoke to Millenium, we used to talk a lot about NFL games.

I'm not even the one who is interested in Jose. Another person asked of a possible trade and I responded. The Dodgers wouldn't try to get Jose anyways, we're content with Ethier and Kemp/Kershaw isn't going anywhere.

Alright, everyone -- we got moderator approval to change the name of the thread to highlight our project. Going to take a quick minute and update the representatives list before I go to work.

Thanks again to everyone who has gotten this project off the ground... it promises to be a fun summer. Update coming within the next ten minutes of all representatives and remaining squads in need of representation.

Also, just wanted to remind everyone that while we'd love to get those last 10 franchises represented, there is no "rank" of representatives, so even if there is a "General Manager" for your team, that does not mean that you cannot be a representative for that squad.

Again, we just hope that all representatives actively franchise with their squads... that's it. Even myself, I represent the Tigers, but there's another Tigers representative here. It's just more active voices towards a sim experience, so please don't think if YOUR team is full that you will be excluded. NO ONE is excluded from participating in this project, nor will they ever be as long as they maintain civility with all posters!

SO - GET INVOLVED! We'd love to have you!

Heading off to work now, will process an update of any new representatives around 12 or 1 AM EST. If anyone new indicates that they would like to join, you may be representing your squads immediately if there are messages, just please familiarize yourself with the procedures first.

Happy Friday to everyone and see you all this evening!

Another quick question, do we base trades off of our Franchise or the proposers? If I offer young prospects to struggling Cardinals for Wainwright but in the Card's GM's 'chise they are still going strong which way should he approach the trade? From how his team is doing or how the Card's in mine are doing?
