Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012
TO: Minnisota Twins GM
FROM: Houston Astros GM
SUBJECT: Denard Span
June 17th 2012
We are well aware of the fact that ya'll are out of contention with a 23-42 record and currently 17.5 games back in the division, 14 back in the wild card and may possibly be looking to rebuild.
We are 34-31 and making a tough run for the post season (yes we know its a little early) and are very interested in Denard Span. His stats on the year are .293/.373/.384 2 HR 14 RBI. We feel like he can deffiantly help us in the early push.
You also lost Josh Willingham for 3 months and Max Kepler for 6 months.
With that being said here is our proposal:
Houston recieves:
Denard Span
Twins recieves:
Adrian Houser 19 SP B POT 3-5 Record 3.64 ERA 64.1 IP 46 SO
Fernando Martinez 23 RF B POT .143/.200/.143 0 HR 0 RBI. thats only in 4 games and hes fresh off the DL
This is just a start proposal and is deffiantly negotiable and would like to hear any counter offers if any. Hope to hear back from you soon.
Thanks

Subject: Blockbuster deal
Hey there!
Blue Jays GM here. As we continue to overhaul the roster, we are looking at two of your players: Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla. Two of my favorite players, here is what I'm willing to offer up:
Kyle Drabek
Sergio Santos
One of Travis D'Arnaud and J.P. Arencibia
Also available, if it suits your preference: Travis Snider, Aideny Hechavarria (Both B's in Scott's upcoming roster set.)
Kyle is a future stud pitcher who can strike guys out like there's no tomorrow. Sergio Santos could be a high quality reliever for you. However, Heyward and Uggla are both pretty good players, and I realize this. As Brian McCann's rating is complete BS in this game (A OVR, B POT? WTF is that?), as is Eric O'Flaharty (B OVR, C POT? Again, wtf?), you guys might need a catcher of the future and a new set up man. Drabek would only add to your line of high quality young pitchers.
Please reply quickly, as I might be dealing Mr. Drabek very soon. Thank you very much!Last edited by AC; 06-14-2012, 04:58 PM."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

We are glad you contacted us and would gladly help with getting this ball rolling.
Over here in Atlanta we are very High on Jason Heyward and he is a crowd favorite. We feel like he would be tough to move. Uggla we are high on him as well but if the price is right he could be moveable.
If i could please have the following we could get this going even further:
Our current record/situation
Everybody that you mentions stats (ifs its not to much to ask)
Edwin Encarnacion's Stats
ThanksComment

BODY:
Greetings, as you know already we at the Oakland front office have had a man crush on Kevin Youkilis since he was in the minors, and seeing as you have an up and coming 3B in Will Middlebrooks we would like to inquire about Kevin. Kevin is having a fantastic season hitting .287 with 10 HR & 25 RBI's in 50 games played. I would like to know what position you guys are looking for to improve. And what it would take to get a deal done.Comment

Thanks for your time, and here's to hoping we can get a deal done. I'll leave you with this:
Arencibia / D'Arnaud
Santos
Wojciechowski
For
Heyward
A high quality catcher, very good bullpen man and solid pitcher for a former top prospect who's coming off a bad year.
Does anyone really care where I sent this from?"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Thanks for such a quick reply! I am actually considering it the winter meetings '11, as I'm waiting (impatiently) for Scott's rosters. I guess Uggla isn't a must. I really would love JayHey, though. IRL if I wasn't broke I would have his jersey by now. However, since Scott's rosters are supposed to mimic real life statistics, I guess the IRL stats wouldn't be a bad thing to use at this juncture before I get my chise going.

P.s. I'm betting around the 21st. I can't wait. I'm dying here, I NEED to start my chise, especially because I've made quite a few trades.

Re: Span
Yeah we've had a tough season and it looks like were going to have to throw in the towel and see some of our younger players. Span has been one of our only consistent forces in our lineup and is still pretty young.
With that said were deffiently seeing what we can fetch for him and we love the cinderalla story because we are usually the ones being predicted to finish last in the divison but overcome it all and win the division. So we would love to see you guys in the post season.
Were hoping Wilingham will be able to be a force for us next season and hopefully Kepler will be back to 100 % because at 19 years old and already with a solid skill set, we except him to be able to contribute at the Major League level one day.
Now like we said, we want to see you guys win but as the GM of the Twins its my responsiblity to make sure I can get the best and fairest deal for Span.
My major concern with this deal is that were heavy with OF talent ( Revere B pot, Arcia B pot, Hicks B pot, Benson B pot, and Kepler C pot but hes young. ) So we are not very interested in a RF prospect. On the other hand we are weak with pitching having only 2 noteworthy prospects. We would be extremely interested in your hard throwing sinker baller Mike Foltynewicz ( On a real life note hes my cousin haha. ) We feel he has the talent to be a future number 2-3 starter for us as he was a recent 1st round selection. We do like Houser very much though.
How does this sound for you guys.
Twins recieve: Adrian Houser, Mike Foltynewicz, PTBNL ( C pot Prospect? )
Astros recieve: Denard Span
We feel like this is a fair trade as Span is a proven leadoff man that can hit .300 for you guys. Plus MM Park is perfect for his game.
Hope to hear from you soon,

SUBJECT: Jason Heyward
We understand your high intrest in JayHey as he is very popular her in Atlanta. As you kno Chipper will be retiring at the end of the year and within the next to years we will hopefully have someone to fully take on that role. Also if we part ways with Heyward we will need somebody that can man RF now. We also fell that Sergio Santos will be a waste of his wonderful talent here in Atlanta as we have Kimbrel. With all of this under consideration here is what we propose.
Toronto recieves:
Jason Heyward
Atlanta recieves:
Travis D'Arnaud
Miguel Sano
Colby Rasmus
Counter offer is welcomeComment

See....
Miguel Sano is on Minnesota. Nit sure what happened there! How about:
Gose
Arencibia
Santos
Santos wouldn't be a closer for you, he would be a set up guy. A really good one.
Arencibia could play a variety of places. 1st, catcher, even LF (yes, that is a possibility.)
However, if I'm taking out D'Arnaud, I'll one up you with Gose. #6 outfield prospect in the game. Ridiculous speed. Can play every outfield position. A true five-tool player.

From : Jerry Dipoto
Subject : Catcher
I'm sending this out to gauge interest around the league. We are currently looking for a future catcher. We would like to see him in the 22-25 yr range, with a potential rating of A or B. We have some major league vets we are willing to give up that are in their contract year ( Haren, and Hunter). We also have guys down on the farm we are willing to part with. I ask if Haren is added that we have a minimum B potential pitching prospect added.
Here is a list of what we feel our untouchables are;
1) Trout
2) Trumbo
3) Pujols
4) Weaver
5) Morales
Feel free to contact me anytime.
Yours Truly,
Jerry Dipoto

Jerry,
I know you said Trout was unavailable, but I will give you an offer that you should consider.
I know we just signed Molina to an extention, but he is expendable.
Here is his stat line:
Molina, Yadier C .296 AVG 115 H 13 HR 68 RBI's
STL Gets:
Trout
A-C Prospect
LAA Gets:
Yadier Molina
Joe Kelly

We could also consider a package containing Shelby Miller, Matt Adams or Zack Cox, but it would take a pretty penny to acquire them

Re: Span
We think Sanchez could be an alright role player some day and we would take him but our outfield has no needs really. We were looking more for 25-28 year old reliever who has a shot at a Major League roster. Maybe a lower rated starter? Really nothing special, that would get the deal done for us.
Thanks,
