Your LF stats
Eric Thames - 21 Games, .264 AVG, 2 HR'S, 5 RBI'S, .361 OBP%
Season Info
You are currently sitting 1 GB of Tampa and Boston for 1st place and have and have a 2 game cushion on the O's.
We thought we would offer a proven #1 starter for your rotation and a veteran clubhouse leader with proven playoff experience. As well as a or both 2 youthful players to help build your franchise around. Can understand any hesitance cause of salary, but thought you could also flip them for players from another team before the deadline if your out of the race.
Please take your time in evaluating the proposal and get back to me when you have a moment.

Re: OS Arbitration Panel Project 2012
To Cubs GM (16-23; 6.5 GB Cincy)
From Mets GM
Soriano for Bay?
Bay .207 avg, 25 H, 4HR, 10 RBI, 3 SB
Soriano .221 avg, 23 H, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 0 SB
We're trying to make some contacts and put out some feelers around the league right now...get back to us and let's negotiate. We are 17-22 sitting 6 games out of first behind the Nats and Fish.
From: Cubs GM
re: Swapping Veterans, Other Possibilities?
(ooc:
I'm all about helping franchisers get what they want, but Bay for Soriano is not very attractive on its face... basically getting the same guy, less speed, 2 years younger, with maybe a higher contract (at least in game)? That's not exactly what the Cubs would be looking for. At 6.5 behind, and 7 games under .500, looks like what we'd want for Soriano would be someone at least significantly younger and cheaper. Essentially, this is a deal between 2 rebuilding teams, or at least 2 teams on the verge of it, that's not really going to dramatically benefit or hurt either team. However, since it would be at worst a lateral move (unless Bay's contract in your franchise is higher than Soriano's), I wouldn't reject it out of hand, as it would be a plausibly "fair" deal, and if you're simply after Soriano, then ok; but it would not be very realistic. More realistically, the Cubs in general need an ML ready 2B better than Barney or good prospect; a 3B better than Stewart, or at least younger; younger SP prospects; and maybe a CF prospect; and overall need to get younger and cheaper (unless you can identify other specific needs the Cubs have in your universe, that's the general set of needs/expectations I would expect them to have). So I'm going to leave it up to you to a certain extent, based on whether you want to make the trades you want, or if you want to reflect reality. If you just want to do Bay for Soriano straight up, I wouldn't really have a problem with that (again, assuming Bay isn't much higher paid). But if you're after a "tougher" deal, and want realism, I'd start by asking about guys like Nimmo (I like him), or one of the middle infielders (Havens, Flores, Valdespin, Evans). Could be a combo deal, Bay + prospect at position Cubs need and Mets have lots of (2B, SS, 3B? Don't know which prospects you have on your rosters, who is rated what, etc, away from ps3 til tomorrow night, just looking at internet info) for Soriano + prospect at position Mets need and Cubs have a lot of (SP? 1B? OF? all maybes). So I'll give you a tentative, sort of informal counteroffer, that you can respond to according to how you want this thing to go down.
Back in context:]
We're intrigued by your offer of Bay for Soriano; both might benefit from a simple change of scene. We would be open to talking more about this, pending reviewing the financial aspects of the deal.
As both of our organizations are struggling a bit of late, and may both be beginning to look toward the future and achieve the same goals, that is, to improve the team, get younger and more athletic, and fill specific needs, we have a counter/additional proposal. If we were to swap the known quantities--Bay and Soriano--we'd be interested in perhaps also making a lateral trade from strength to strength involving some younger players. If you would outline your needs as far as prospects, and consider where you may have good players who might not have a spot; and compare that to our similar situation [ooc: I'll help with this by looking at the rosters when I get home tomorrow night, but it would kind of be on you to figure out what you have & need compared to what the Cubs have & need, in your universe, and get me some info as to ages, potentials, performances so far in the minors, to figure out which we'd pick], we might be able to help each other out further. We are particularly interested in some of your younger middle infield prospects, and young Brandon Nimmo would fit well into our plans. I'm sure we have some players that would fit your needs. I look forward to hearing back from you at your convenience.
Best,
Chicago CubsComment

I like it. The Cubs will take Anderson, I think he as a high upside. If Rizzo doesn't work out--he's just doing ok so far for me in 2013, but I expect him to develop--or if he eventually becomes to expensive--Anderson could be his replacement, and another CF could be found. Not sure, then, whether Smith is the guy, or if the Cubs need another pitcher. Since I am out of the office for another 24 hours, and your season has yet to begin, let us agree in principle that we will accept a trade pending just a bit more consideration, that will look like this:
Jays Send:
Nicolino
Anderson
Smith, Jr. or one of the other pitchers
for
Cubs Send:
Garza
Player to be named later
Only things to be determined are: the player to be named will be a 29+ vet with some service time, not on our 40 man, with a salary too large to justify keeping him (in the upper 6 figures, so it won't be a burden for you, even if you straight up release him); I'm thinking Amezega, but I need to check the rosters when I return to the "office" (ps3) tomorrow, to make sure that's the best fit; then, I want Smith, I like Smith, but this is not MY Cubs dynasty (though, it's got me thinking; I might be talking to you about Smith later if I can't figure out who else to put in CF...); starting from beginning 2012, getting Nicolino (what is he, 2 years away?) and Anderson (2-3 years away?), and giving up Garza, the Cubs might need a more ML-ready SP to essentially, not replace Garza, but replace whoever replaces Garza (R. Wells, T. Wood, T. McNutt); but then, as I see all those names, I remember the Cubs do have a few to fill in. So, we have an agreement in principle, with only the above mentioned details to work out; we should be able to finalize a deal by Friday, once I've looked everything over and fully weighed the options. I think the Cubs would benefit from this (Nicolino could end up in the rotation down the line, and Anderson could be any number of things), and really, Garza will be kind of wasted in a long-term rebuilding process, so I can say it's plausible to part with him. If this works for you, let's get back in touch within 24-48 hours and make it final. Great negotiating with you!
Great negotiating with you, too! As school winds down I'm going to be available pretty much every day.

RE: I WILL BE HERE LESS (circumstances beyond control)
First, as I know this was probably a little shocking to read - I am NOT leaving OS or anything of the sort. I had a major hard drive crash on my computer the other night, and at this point I am not sure if it is salvageable. I'm not even able to get to recovery or formatting options, safe mode -- etc. My boot volume is unmountable, is the essence of the error.
I still have access to the internet through my PS3, but don't have a USB keyboard for it yet so won't really post through there. My girlfriend is here five days and four nights every week and I have access to a CPU on those days.
TO: NoFatGirlz4Me
Since you were planning on sending me updates on who to add to the list, could I rely on you to do one update a week in the meantime, just copy and pasting my template and adding any new reps? Since you had already volunteered, I figured I would ask you out of the "veteran" members of the project.
The project is already to the point to where it will need very little actual updating. Again, I want to make it clear that I am NOT leaving and will still be here and posting as much as I can when I can actually use a keyboard. I would not abandon the project for the life of me... I honestly feel the discussion here is among the best of any I have ever seen on Operation Sports.
Unfortunately, I can't really afford to replace the CPU at the current time, so this is a necessary evil until I can.
I am basically just a secretary at this point anyways-- but I felt I should let everyone know what is going on, and ask for help. Other than Skype, OS is open more than anything on my old computer -- and I am super bummered out even still, and it happened Tuesday night.
Thanks to everyone who pitches in to make sure that this thread stays on point... Just like to say that I am very proud of what we have accomplished here in this project, and proud to have been a member of Operation Sports for almost eight years!I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

UThank you for the offer, but I have deals in place for two good pitchers, and am negotiating a third. With Morrow, Romero, and prospects, I don't feel we have a spot for Haren. Plus, Travis is our top prospect, we aren't dealing him unless something amazing comes along.
Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

I'm sending this out to gauge interest around the league. We are currently looking for a future catcher. We would like to see him in the 22-25 yr range, with a potential rating of A or B. We have some major league vets we are willing to give up that are in their contract year ( Haren, and Hunter). We also have guys down on the farm we are willing to part with. I ask if Haren is added that we have a minimum B potential pitching prospect added.
Here is a list of what we feel our untouchables are;
1) Trout
2) Trumbo
3) Pujols
4) Weaver
5) Morales

Drabek's a very high B. Wojciechowski's a mid B.
