Re: Those get up and yell moments...

Just did a Raul Ibanez with my SS Skeeter Hayes. After getting traded to the Twins from the Mets organization, Skeeter was determined to prove his worth to his new ball club. On his third game with his new club (redhawks triple A) he hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game. He came up again during the 10th but just missed a high fastball. He came up again until the 13th inning, but this time he hit a hanging slider for the game winner.

    It was so cool

Re: Those get up and yell moments...

Playing my franchise last night as the Jays against the Yankees. Top of 9 and I am up 3-1 with Santos in looking for his first save after returning from injury. I get the first guy out via fly ball to 3rd. Next guy gets a hit. Strikeout the next batter and then I get 0-2 on Russell Martin. He fouls off the next 2 pitches and I throw 2 balls after that. Next pitch is completely in the bottom of the zone and the ump calls it a ball!!! I was so mad!!!!! It was clearly a strike and would have ended the game!!! Anyway, I shake that off and proceed to throw another ball as my confidence was shot.

Next batter is Nick Swisher. I start with a high fastball that he is behind on. Throw an inside pitch that is just a ball, although I could have been a strike, but the ump hadn't called them strikes all night, so I wasn't upset. Anyway, I throw a breaking ball the next pitch low outside and Swisher mashes a 402 blast to rightfield!!!!! Now I am down 4-3 and am fuming. I K the next guy and head to the bottom of the inning only to go out without even a whimper!!!

I really wish you could bitch about and umpire and get fined, because I would have done that for sure!!!!!

I started playing with a 30-team FANchise (simmed draft so unless I look at each team's roster, I don't know who landed where), playing 1 game a day on the calendar (match drawn at random, home/away decided by coin flip). Played as Dodgers against Padres and had a crazy game. Was down 8-4 heading into the last couple of innings, Marlon Byrd hits a 3-R HR to make it 8-7; to the 9th, I get the bases loaded and tie the game with a single, Byrd up again and he wins it with a walkoff GROUND-RULE DOUBLE! Final score: Dodgers 10, Padres 8. The Byrd was the Word!

Another one for the "I wonder where Guenther Wendt..." chronicles. Just played Twins against Indians: Score tied at 1, Micah Owings gets hammered in the 8th in relief of Vance Worley, allows 3 runs (including a 2-R HR by Carlos Lee). Twins answer back in their 8th: Michael Bourn homers to right to make it 4-2, Dustin Pedroia singles to left, Aubrey Huff singles to left, Casey Kotchman singles to right to load them for Matt Joyce (had a walkoff hit with him in an earlier game). Joyce flies out to left, David DeJesus calls out Hallelujah with a game tying double to right! Miguel Tejada strikes out to make it 2 out, Ryan Hanigan (who had been slumping in his last three games) shells a game-winning double to make it 6-4 and a Twins win as Ryan Madson comes out to close the 9th!

          THE A's DO IT AGAIN!!
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th to the White Sox, Stephen Drew leads off with a single to right. Follow that with a Reddick single through the hole between first and second. Now Cespedes hits a rocket passed the 3b to score Drew from second. A second pitch passed ball moves Reddick and Cespedes up to 3rd and 2nd, after an eight pitch at-bat Moss strikes out. The Sox decide to walk Seth Smith to get to Inge for the righty-righty match up. Closer Addison Reed throws a first pitch hanging slider the Inge promptly deposits in to the left-center seats for a walk off grand slam.

I'm currently 7-10 with two walk off wins. The first one was a walk off wild pitch.

Sent from that place where I'm at.

Re: Those get up and yell moments...

In my OS online league it was game 3 of the World Series. The Phillies (me) were down two games to none to the hated Yankees. I fell into an early 5-0 hole but battled back to 5-4, but then trailed 8-5 entering the bottom of the 9th.

Mariano was summoned into the game in the 8th after Howard homered to lead off the inning to get the Phillies within 3, 8-5. Mariano blew away the next three batters. However the 9th was a different story. Ruiz led off with a single. Pinch hitter Thome singles. After Victorino Ks on a meatball, Utley singles to load the bases.

That sets it up with Pence up with 1 out and the bases loaded but more importantly hot hitting Howard was looming in the on deck circle. Pence was able to work the count 3-1. Even the immortal Mariano doesn't want to face Howard with the game on the line and Pence knows this. Pence also knows that a hittable pitch is coming. Pence knows that Mariano doesn't have that dreaded unhittable change up in the Show (thank God!) and grips the bat tight with his power swing. Rivera does his famous bend over motion and sends the pitch....Pence cannot believe what he sees....a MEATBALL right over the heart of the plate! There will be no need for Howard to bat as Pence is about the crush a walk off grand slam and swing the momentum back to the Phillies! Alas Pence was correct, Howard need not bat because Pence's power swing on Mariano's meatball was hit right at Jeter who turns the game ending, kick in my nut sack, 6-4-3 double play!!!!! WOW!

The Yankees take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

              Repeat Offender X 3
              Rangers (me) at Angels (CPU)
              In-Game Date: June 1st, 2012

Note: 30-team franchise fantasy drafted (simmed)

Freddy Galvis, Joey Votto & Adam "GIT 'ER" Dunn each homered twice in the game and knocked in all 9 of the Rangers runs in their 9-3 win.

Galvis homered in the 3rd (2R shot to center) and 5th (solo to left), both were on back-to-back ABs (his 2nd and 3rd of season). Votto homered in the 4th onto the rocks (solo) and again in the 8th (solo to center, 5th & 6th HRs). Dunn homered in the 6th (3R to right) and 8th (solo to left), back-to-backs (his 11th & 12th). I shouted HE DID IT AGAIN on all three of their 2nd bombs of the game.

The Angels 3 runs were in the 8th off reliever Randy Choate (Choke), including a leadoff homer by Jeter.

WP: "Magic" Wandy Rodriguez (2-6), hopefully he's been practicing lately!
              LP: Jake Peavy (2-5)

Re: Those get up and yell moments...

                I have two!

My RTTS player was a switch hitting slugging first baseman for Cincinnati. We were playing Detroit in the World Series and after having an INSANE postseason I went hitless in the first three games, all of which we dropped, then got my first hit of the series with the game winning home run in game four. Fast forward to game seven of the World Series. The score is 1-0, it's the bottom of the ninth, there's two outs, full count, and I'm up to bat against Max Scherzer. I strike out! Not only was I the final out of the World Series, Scherzer sealed his perfect game against me, the NL's reigning MVP. It was the bad kind of get up and yell moment.

The other story worked out much better for me. It was actually MLB 09 or 10 and I was the San Francisco Giants in franchise mode. It was against the Yankees and while I can't remember if it was game five or six it was definitely an elimination game for them. It was a tie game in the bottom half of extra innings and I had a runner on third, Mark Teahen. I don't remember who was batting, I don't remember who was pitching, I just remember that I tried a gutsy suicide squeeze and missed. I was so mad about messing up a risky play in a high stakes game that I honestly don't know how it happened, but Mark Teahen successfully pulled off a walk off steal of home plate in the deciding game of the World Series.

Losing by 1 with Twins against the Angels...9 ininng, my offense was doing nothing that day, with some luck i get one player on first base....with 2 out, Morneau was my last chance...., strike one, strike two...and i was thinking "how the hell im going to hit the ball"...then a cb right on the midle and......boom! a awesome homerun to the right, i just scream YES!, the tension was so awesome.... won the game, screw the save for the closer, the final result 2-1 for the Twins.

Gotta say after playing MLB the show12 i never, never going to look the same way to the others sports games, this games is AMAZING.

Re: Those get up and yell moments...

So, this is a get up and cry moment. I'm down 2-1 at home going into the bottom of the ninth inning and playing with Texas.

I get a lead off double with Moreland and the pinch run Gentry for him.

Next batter, wild pitch on the second pitch, runner moves up. Now i have a runner on third, no outs, down by 1. Nearly automatic run. Infield is in so I am swinging for a single or sacrifice, but strike out.

Next batter, I call for a suicide squeeze on a 0-1 count and they pitch out and stuff it. I was so angry at the computer for this. Now, all of a sudden, its no one on, two outs. Batter strikes out, game over.

On the bright side, the Show really nailed the realism of the Texas Rangers this year.

I had an awesome get up and yell moment last night.

I was playing as the Twins using my 40Man All Time Greats historic rosters and was playing game 6 of the World Series against the Giants. The game was at the Metrodome and I am losing the series 3 games to 2.

I started Walter Johnson and he pitched 10 innings and only gave up 2 runs. The game went to extra innings only because Kirby Puckett threw out 2 runners at home plate in the 9th inning. Johan Santana took over in the 11th and kept wiggling out of jams all the way through the 14th inning.

In the bottom of the 14th with 2 outs Bob Allison hits a walk off solo home run to right field off of Juan Marichal to end the game and set up a game 7 at the Metrodome. It was 1:00 AM in the morning and I got up and yelled F-yeah and woke everyone up.

                      It was freaking awesome!

Heres mine.........and I havent played a game since (but im going to get '13).

Playing as the Cubs in MLB 10 and had a 4 game series with the Marlins at home. The first 3 games I had blown saves from Marmol the first two games and someone else in Game 3 and ended up losing all of them. In the fourth game of the series I was up 4-1 going into the ninth. I threw in Marmol of course and he blew the save and the Marlins went up 7-4. I WAS PISSED! I ran outside into my street, it was dark out and raining and i threw that controller about 4 houses down. It felt so good. Then when I went in my TV was going nuts as if someone was constantly pressing buttons on a controller. I just thought Unbelievable. I know I could of just shut off the ps3 but I went down and found my controller by a storm drain upside down and suprisingly I only F'ed up the R2 button!!!! My wife wanted to kill me.

If you're at the stage where you're throwing your controller down the street because you lost in a video game I think it's time to contact Dr. Phil.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

The "worst" get up and yell moment was playing as the White Sox against the Cubs in MLB 10, had a perfect game with 2 outs in the 8th, Cubs bring in Chad Tracy of all people to pinch hit, first pitch he see's is a liner past first base for a single. Proceeded to bury my head in my couch so my dog wouldn't see me cry.

The "greatest" get up and yell moment happened a couple weeks ago in MLB 12, RTTS, first time in the post season after being stuck with the A's for my first 6 years, finally able to leave as a FA, game 6 NLCS, up 3 games to 2, 10th inning walk off home run! Brewers make it to the dance!

My biggest "get up and yell moment" was in MLB 08. It was game 7 of the ALCS and was playing in Cleveland against the Yankees. I was heading into the bottom of the 9th down 7-4 with Rivera coming in to close out yet another AL championship. I ended up loading the bases with 2 outs and had Franklin Gutierrez come up and hit a walk off grand slam to take the Indians to the world series.

I did end up going to the world series and losing to the Giants in 5 games but that walk off grand slam was my most exciting moment ever while playing this series. What made it even more special was it came during the only season I have ever played every single game.
