Re: Those get up and yell moments...

Playing the Rays. They scored 6 runs off of Ivan Nova in the 2nd inning to make the score 6-0. I pulled Nova for Garcia, who had been crap so far to that point in the season, so I wasnt expecting much out of him. But he managed to come in and look like the All Star Freddy Garcia from way back when. I slowly started chipping away at the huge lead. In inning number 8 Tex tied the game at 6-6 on an RBI double. The game went into extra innings. Freddy Garcia made it to the eighth inning. By inning 11 I had David Aardsma doing the pitching. Inning 11 was an uneventful one, Russell Martin flied out, and Gardener grounded out. Derek Jeter came to the plate, and quickly got 2 strikes on him. But then after fouling off several pitches, Jeter connected on a fastball straight down the middle, and the ball bounced on the top of the wall in right for one of those Yankee Stadium homeruns that would have been a flyout anywhere else. Game over. I jumped up and yelled "CAPTAIN!" as loud as I could.

Thanks for the congrats, and yes, walk off in the bottom of the 14th to win game 7.

I posted a longer description of the entire playoffs in the PROGRESS thread, but long story short...I played a full season as the White Sox and lost Game 7 of the WS to the Rockies on a 9th inning suicide squeeze. So, after some time off, I started a new season with the Rockies while I waited for '12 to come out. Finally finished that season last Thursday night/Friday morning. Went up 2-0 in the series, dropped the next 2, won game 5 so I'm up 3-2. Lost game 6 giving up the tying and go ahead runs on stupid errors. Game 7 neither one of us can push the winning run across the plate despite getting people on base and in scoring position.

After that Youkilis play in the 12th where he managed to get Tulo on a ball I was sure had gotten past 3rd, I thought I was in for another massive WS letdown. Had to put the controller down and walk around several times, but what a finish.

The most excited I've ever been is still in a Toronto series. Jc Romero was destroying me, but I did a good job working the count... He was out after 7, and I was in a 6-run hole. I remember Evan Longoria was due to start the 8th, and I remember thinking before he came up, "now that Romero is gone, it'd be awesome if I could get back in this game. Longo really needs to get on base here" and then Longo hit a first-pitch fastball the other way for a leadoff double. I did end up completing the comeback, but I think the first hit was by far the most exciting. It made me believe.

I have a low voice so I'm not really capable of yelling lol.
but I definitely stood up for that one.

Rays vs Blue Jays, 8th inning, 2-2 game. Bases loaded, 2 outs. Fernando Rodney vs Jose Bautista. After a long 9 pitch battle, the counts 3-2. i throw a perfect 2-seamer on the outside corner. And the ump just stands there like an idiot. Ohhhh boy was i pissed. I threw my controller down(suprised it didnt break) Stood 2 inches away from the tv, screaming at the ump saying "Are you F****** serious blue?! That wasnt even close to a ball!!! Get some f****** contacts you blind piece of S***!!!! .I lost 8-2 because i gave up a grand-slam to Encarnacion on the next pitch.
It took me a couple hours to even calm down to the point to where i could write this. If there was a way that we could interact with the umpires, i probably wouldve been suspended for a couple games for spitting in his face, adn bumping the ump.

Definitly a yell and just plain quit moment today..sabathia pitching good again but about to take another loss I was trailing 2-0 in the bot9th to reds. So had 1st and 2nd no outs..Tex rips a single first run scores (i didnt press any buttons at all to advn runners) but cpu makes cano go to 3rd on the hit standing up(ok cuz he was safe) BUT the cpu has him try to go straight home when the ball was already in the pitchers glove in the cut off..WOW I never pressed a thing the entire time after the single...annoying

I had the good and bad yells in one inning. I was down 5-2 against the Sox in my Cubs franchise, bottom 9, when Alfonso Soriano connected on a two-run blast with no one out. Two out of the next three batters reached, first and second, I guessed fastball with Bryan LaHair, got a fastball, and hit into a double play. Doh!

Re: Those get up and yell moments...

After a few days of not getting to play (stupid life!), got in two games today, one each in my dual Cubs/Angels franchise... both extra innings! Cubs first, won in the bottom of the 11th on a manufactured run, very fun. But the Angels game had 2 real get up and yell moments, both provided by Trumbo (I'm starting to like him, even if he's made of stone at 3b sometimes): at Texas, Darvish just killing me with his velocity changes and especially his curve; early, E. Santana gives up a 2 run hr to Kinsler, but that's it, but I can't hit Darvish to save my life. Finally, top 8th, Kendrys leads off with a single, Trumbo takes a couple, then Yu finally hangs a curve that Trumbo just kills (Vasgergian yells "Hanger!"), tied at 2, I definitely threw my hands up and celebrated. Then the grind began (I really couldn't believe it; I said to myself, "Really???!!! More extras!!!"); nobody can score (thank god Vicente Padilla is a middle reliever for me; he went 3.1 scoreless innings; I hated him, now I love him!) for like an hour, real time. Finally, top 14th, don't even know the guy the Rangers had pitching (never heard of him), Trumbo leads off, first pitch is a hanging slider right down the middle, Trumbo hits one of those where the camera immediately jerks toward left field to show the left fielder slowly turning around to watch the ball sail way, way out... I jumped up and yelled, "Yeeaaaaaah, Booooooeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyy!" or something like that, and probably did a little cabbage patch, too. Then I had to win the game, of course, which I did. Whew, no games in 72 hours, then 2 tight, extra inning wins....

This game is great at adding "insult to injury"(or in these cases, insult to errors). If you made a small user controlled error(that the AI would NEVER make), they end up capitalizing on it like crazy and basically mock you(ex-If you try to get a ball, and for some reason, your guy "trips" and misses it, the next play, the AI WILL score a run with the baserunner who advanced an extra base cause of that small mistake. Or if you were to have something happen offensively that cost you a run or 2 cause of a human error, you'd somehow end up losing the game by 1 run, so you get even madder knowing that the 1-2 runs you missed cause of human error, cost you the game)

Every time I don't drive in a run, the CPU comes out and scores four off me. It's ridiculous.

Does anyone really care where I sent this from?

I had a "get up and yell" game the other day..

Bud Norris in my franchise had this stat line..

                        9IP, 11K's, 1Hit, 0BB (the one hit was a bloop single ugh)
3-3 at the plate with an RBI .. not to shabby

My roommate, when I mentioned this thread (and how he made a cameo appearance in it), said, "The thing I hear you say most is, 'Really?'" And then, I apparently repeat it a few times, going up an octave each time; and then, once I feel like I have gone as high as I can go, I start going back down the scale, finishing up with one, in my normal tone of voice, but dripping with sarcasm, "Really?". He said he's heard me say "Really," in slightly ascending/descending tones, like 8 times in a row, amidst a bunch of creative and often confusing cuss words. Apparently it amuses him no end.

Why can I see you doing a C major scale of really?

My best one is when I fought through freezing to pitch my first ever no hitter, with Daniel Norris. Only his second career start.

Oh boy....I had a get up and yell moment yesterday.

So I am in the last week of June.....my Marlins are sputtering (2-9) in my last 11 games. My son (7 years old) will play with me sometimes where he will be the opposing team I am currently playing. Now...he can ball on The Show. Dad has taught him well

Top of the 9th. Playing the Cardinals in game one of a three game set. I have Heath Bell on the mound with a 3-1 lead. He proceeds to walk the leadoff batter, then gives up a single. First and second no one out and Furcal steps up to the plate. I get ahead 1-2. I decide to throw a slider down and away...except that it goes high then drops right over the plate and my son promptly deposits the ball over the left field wall.

Rafael Furcal!!!!! Punching Judy hit's a the run homer to win this game as my son shut me down in the bottom of the 9th.

                                Are you *&^&ing kidding me!!!

                                Ahhhh baseball. Gotta love it.
