Russell, how often do you actually play The Show? I mean outside of bug-testing and functionality checking and all that other work-related stuff... Like how frequently do you really just play baseball in a casual environment? I've always wondered how often devs play their own games outside of the office.

Re: CES questions you have about MLB 13 The Show
What happens is that at random the game freezes the baserunner on the pickoff & nothing you press (the button to move the baserunner back to the base is the L1 [left shoulder] button) will unfreeze the baserunner. He will simply eventually "unfreeze" (something the CPU has total control over) and head back to the bag. If the pickoff thow is even somewhat accurate the baserunner will then be called out.
What would need to be changed (at least as a game option that a user can choose in the pregame) is where the baserunner does not move either off the bag or back to the bag unless the user presses the button to move him. This way if a baserunner is picked off, it is due to the user's fault rather than a random "game-freeze".
In truth I don't see why this would not be implemented. Look at it this way. Imagine if the game decided to randomly freeze an outfielder on a ball hit to him so that he could not chase the ball down. Wouldn't people have a legitimate complaint by referring to this as a bug in the game?
In reality I don't see why this scenario with the baserunner is any different than if the game were to freeze the outfielder thus not allowing him to pursue a ball hit in his direction. A response by the game developers to this complaint that after all one is actually able to move the outfielder before the ball is hit would of course be ridiculous as the issue is about the fielder responding after the ball is hit. Same here. The issue is about the baserunner being able to respond when the pickoff attempt is made. Not before it is made.
Anyway, thanks for offering to bring this up at community day. God willing hopefully they will implement a fix for what should rightly be considered to be a bug (or at the very least, a glitch) in the game.Last edited by Big Shmooz; 01-11-2013, 03:14 AM.Comment

So are you (indirectly) saying we won't see this game on the PS4 until The Show 15?"When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Yes that's what I'm saying and yes, you can turn the pitch callout off.Comment

Re: CES questions you have about MLB 13 The Show
Being able to still see MPH displayed on the scorebug with the pitch callout OFF and the ability to turn off all the other OSD's were my 2 biggest wishes and will make for the most authentic broadcast experience there isComment

Re: CES questions you have about MLB 13 The Show
FreezeTime, from the videos that have been up in the forum, I get an impression that the pitch speed is slower than in previous years. Part of that is Dickey, but I'm wondering how you feel about the pitch speed in general. I think Ramone mentioned at one point that it's been made slower overall, but how much? And is it still possible to bring that up to the real-life speed when Pitch Speed slider is maxed out? Thanks!Comment

Re: CES questions you have about MLB 13 The Show
Freeze...Now that we know all the OSD's can be turned off I want to know if there's an option to just turn off the MLB 13 The Show OSD at the top of the scorebug to make it look totally like a real broadcast
Can you please ask Ramone if you can and if they would at least consider making it drop down after the first pitch every inningLast edited by DodgerFanatic2K3; 01-11-2013, 04:57 AM.Comment

Freeze, can you delve into Franchise any yet, particularly Player Budgets and how they compare to reality. Mainly, I want to make sure that even though I have 80 mil for player budgets that B.J. Upton isn't signed for $3m/year. Basically, I want to know if they are comparatively even.Comment
