Not knocking your set man, but everytime I go into bestbuy the panny viera plasma just looks darker and duller, not as vibrant as the Sony or Sammy LEDs. I know the 600 mhz is nice but I didnt like the picture quality, and like I said, mh XBR LED 240 HZ looks beautiful, and I have never felt any input lag or timing issues. In fact im early on fastballs a lot having to remind myself to wait back lol.

^ Not even going to get started on this, but the 600 Hz "feature" isn't what I think you think it is.

Either way, I enjoy the deep plasma color to LCD, and I have an LCD looking right at my plasma in the face that I can compare directly to. Yeah, it's 23" so it's not quite the same, but even still.

Just do some research before you pick up a TV. Plenty of LCDs have very low input lag. I made sure to get one that had low lag and I can tell the difference when I play the game on other TVs, especially with pulse pitching.

If its important to you, make it important when looking at future TV purchases. The most expensive TVs to not always have the best input lag.

Pretty sure thats obvious. Just an observation from research and comparing in store multiple times. Ive even adjusted settings in store. In the end it comes down tk personal preference and I love my sony xbr LED.

As far as gaming goes. A 30 inch LED monitor is great. I have a 23'" LED 1080p acer monitor. No lag at all. I don't sit far from my screen so its great.

I never knew about this. I have a 55" Vizio. Maybe that's why I suck at hitting. But seriously. I've never noticed anything before...

Just go into your XMB and press right-left-right-left, etc. If there is seemingly any delay from what you press and what's displayed on screen, then your TV suffers from input lag (and it should be pretty obvious with people that have bad input lag).

I need to get a new TV but get really concerned by this.

One thing though. I don't watch TV as such. The only stuff I watch is Netflix, Lovefilm which is all done through the Xbox and PS3.

In that case am I better buying a monitor? Ad if so what should I look for as I have no idea.

I think you mean you do not like the realistic look of plasma TVs, you like the fake torch mode look that looks like everyone is glowing bright green and red.

The great thing about Plasmas are they make it seem like you are looking out a window.

Plasma tvs are better for gaming because there is less lag. You just need to be careful about IR but as long as you dont leave your TV on a static imagine for hours and hours you should be fine

You should NEVER judge tvs under the harsh lights of best buy. If you want to see how plasmas really should look you need to go into the Magnolia room.

Sears had a Panny 50" U50 on sale a few weeks back for 600 bucks that I almost bit on. I have a 47" Vizio 60Hz that works fine for games and Blus. OK for Fios 1080i too.

What will I notice that will improve my experience with the consoles on a half decent plasma?

Nah thats not what i meant, but i guess you are the omnipotent mind who knows all, even what others are thinking. I dont have my settings on "vibrant", they are toned down and calibrated and STILL have a better picture than any plasma i've researched or looked at.

LMAO @ plasmas make everything look like you are looking out a window. Sure, because any manmade piece of technology can surpass god given vision.

Again, it's personal preferance. Nothing more or less.
