Your TV shouldnt be super bright, it just does not look real. After a couple of days it wont look dark anymore.

A properly calibrated TV is not going to be super bright its going to look "dark" to you.

You will also see way better detail when its not in vivid mode. If the tv is too bright you lose tons of detail

HAHAHAHA..Did you write that article because that proves nothing. He is comparing the most expensive LED tv to the middle class panasonic tv

The SHarp Elite is a fantastic tv and black levels are superb but it suffers from weaker color decoding and nowhere near as good as the uniformity of plasmas.

        FACTS.....But good try

Id still take a used Kuro over that sharp elite. But why not try to compare a $4000 TV to a $1500 TV to try and prove how an LED is better than a Plasma.

While we are at it why not try to compare a 4k TV that cost 20k to a 2k plasma.

In my original post. I said a Plasma TV has less input lag. But not that much better which is true. I then said LED's are better in almost every category. I should have added in my opinion. Ive had both. And i prefer LED backlit. To take it further i said i prefer monitors to TV's. So we can continue to debate this if you want. But i have better things to do and hopefully you do as well.

What categories do you think LEDs are better than plasma?

Because its a fact that plasmas have better black levels.
its a fact LEDs have way more motion blur.
Its a fact that plasmas have better screen uniformity.
its a fact that plasmas have better off axis viewing angles.

Anyways, the show is going to look great on a plasma or LCD/LED tv so we all win

I do agree that monitors are better if you are worried about any kind of input lag which monitors are almost non existent in that sense.

Those that cannot afford a big tv can just get themselves the incredible 23 inch LCD Asus monitor on Amazon for like $145 and it produces the best colors and black levels for gaming on a monitor with no input lag.

its the official gaming monitor for MLG

Re: What adjustments do you make for your TV??? Need some help....

I bought a 50" Panasonic plasma last year thinking it would reduce my input lag from my older 42" Phillips LCD. If I never found out about PC mode on the Phillips LCD, then it would've been very true, but honestly the Phillips in PC mode is probably about the best HDTV I've ever owned for gaming.

While gaming I prefer a brighter screen (especially for C.O.D.) but I love the plasma for TV and movies. I ended up selling my old Phillips to a friend (which I regret for gaming, but its over 5 years old now and probably towards the end of it's life), and I ended up buying a 24" Viewsonic monitor for PS3 gaming and to create a dual monitor setup for my laptop when coding.

A monitor is by far the best bet for reducing input lag... I went from pitch speed at 2 to max and I'm still pulling everything.

Re: What adjustments do you make for your TV??? Need some help....

A ton of untrue things being said.

                      1. The Sharp Elites, are not what they used to be, so that instantly gives that article above, no credibility. They had recalls this last fall on their tv's because the viewing angles were so bad.

                      2. Plasma's beat LED's on every major category.
                      a. very little input lag, on any picture setting, plasmas are around 1-3ms where LED's are at an average of about 14-16ms.
                      b. plasma's have a wider viewing angle, by far
                      c. plasma's have better/wider range of colors
                      d. plasma's have a black/white ratio
                      e. want to know something funny? my 55" LED LG uses about 15$ of power per year, my 55" Panny uses 22$ per year, talk about a huge leap/selling tool.

Burn in is the only bad part of plasma's which is easily avoidable. Anyways, my pc is dying so I had to cut this list short.

                      Plasma>LED/LCD

How will I know if there is lag? I went left and right and it would to to each screen. If the stuff doesn't load as quickly or what?

It would be milliseconds apart, but yes.

If you still have a tube lying around, hook up your PS3 to that for a moment and convince yourself that its response time is no different than your LCD.
