Vita version.

A couple early things.. Playing first game.

Love the new fast forward menu where you can see what is happening and jump in. Awesome.

Safeco's new video board and Edgars look really good.

Ackley has facial hair So does Ryan.

When missing pitches they definitely seem to miss outside instead of meatballs.

Here are a couple of impressions from my first game:

Angels vs Dodgers at Dodger Stadium (I played as the Dodgers)

Lost 5-2 on Verteran settings. Kershaw vs Weaver with default rosters

The first thing I noticed was the baseball... Not sure if it's just me but ground balls on last year's Vita version looked like a huge softballs bouncing around the infield. I didn't notice that during my first game with MLB 13 and appeared to be much better.

I was using pulse pitching and definitely noticed that when you miss you don't end up throwing meatballs very often like it seemed last year. Most of the times my timing was off I would miss way outside or the pitch would bounce in the dirt.

Just like Bat mentioned, the Fast Forward feature is very nice and something I will probably use on many occasions.

I also hit many hard line drive outs during the game...probably about 9 or 10. I didn't strike out as often as I usually do but I'm sure I will find out if that was just a fluke after a few more games since that is one of my bad habits. LOL

The game runs incredibly smooth and the day/night transition looked really nice

The presentation itself appears to be roughly the same..... no replays or cut scenes like last years game but I'm sure that is due to this being a handheld game meant for quicker play. Matt V was excellent as usual but didn't hear much of Karros. I can't even recall him saying much of anything but maybe I was just tuning him out...

I was unable to go online or download a roster update as it would not let me redeem my online pass. Guessing that will be available by the end of the week.

I will play a couple more games tonight and post a few more impressions regarding game play and RTTS.

In the first year draft the top rated player was 74 and he went 2nd. A relief pitcher went first... I took a pick of the top few be up in a bit.

Jose Tabata retired after the first season due to injury.

I noticed a certain Mr. Russell in the Pirates minors. During the sim he got traded to the M's. Don't worry it doesn't rain as much as people think here

To start the 2017 season there are 23 players with 99 overall. To start there was 17. Good sign to not see too many superstars..

Really enjoying the game thus far, but it is taking a little getting used to. The pitch speed on default Allstar is noticeably slower than 12'. I am ahead of almost all fastballs at this point, and REALLY have to wait on the offspeed pitches.

I recorded the games intro as well as 3 innings of the ChiSox @ Baltimore on default Allstar. It is uploading now but taking an extremely long time doing it!!

Ok some more thoughts on the Vita version.

The hit variety is pretty nice. For sure base hits up the middle can slow down on the grass to be fielded.

Seen some big hops off the wall.

The AI misses dives more, and pitchers don't seem to field like Ozzie Smith all the time. I haven't seen the bounce off a pitcher and throw me out yet either.

I got an achievement for stealing home with Justin Smoak..Didn't do that.

Holy cow I didn't know the added new animations in the hr derby of the batter watching each ball go out as soon as you hit it.. Looks awesome! Nice touch.

Loving the game so far..

Guys, I am new to this and had NOOO clue how long it took to upload videos. I am trying to upload the video files in mp4 format (which from what I can find is the fastest), and this is a tedious process at best. Any suggestions? I recorded just one inning of the Reds @ Cubs and my YouTube page is estimating that taking over 800 minutes to complete.

I wish I could get some gameplay videos up guys, but obviously I am the biggest idiot in the world...lol.

I am pulling EVERYTHING!!! I am not taking offspeed pitches, etc... I am getting around on pitches that I never have before.

I have never done this before in previous versions, but I am going to have to up the pitch speed slider significantly. I also have always played offline at default Allstar difficulty, especially right out of the box. This year may change that also. This is simply my opinion, and don't take it as gospel, but it seems like default allstar is very much like veteran (at least hitting). On most pitches, as long as I am not waaay ahead of the pitch, my PCI is covering the entire strike zone and I MASH the ball.

Liking the game, but definitely hitter friendly on default allstar

Vita version here. Initial impressions so far:

Graphically the game looks great on the Vita. Framerate looks to be improved. Need to work on my timing as I am early on a lot of offspeed pitches. Tons of camera angles to choose from which should help with hitting. Also saw GMo's hitting camera as one of the angles and it is great to hit with IMO. There is also a HR cut scene (Watched Chris Davis and JJ Hardy round 3rd base and high five the next batter after crossing home plate yesterday ) Only got an hour in last night but from what I played, i really enjoyed it.

Just a quick hit. Love it love it LOVE IT!!! Now I know why there is no demo, heck the game doesn't need one. How these guys find a way to improve upon last year is beyond me. SCEA you Mofos should charge double for this game, oh I did pay double.

The lighting of a day game for me is a huge improvement. I say this because the last couple of years at times tracking the ball I had problems due to lighting and old age but its not an issue any longer. Personal thanks

Love how you can tell the colors now on pitches, in past years it was hard to tell but this year there is no doubt with the color improvements

Graphically the game has improved, which I thought was impossible to do.

Only played 1 inning but this is what jumped out right away

I've always lowered cpu pitch speed down due to my brain not picking up balls/strikes fast enough. Something has changed because I'm having no problems recognizing balls/strikes. Hmmm

If there is a negative I would say its some noticeable stuttering at times during the game. A little too much for my taste. I have a brand new slim soooooo

I gonna also agree with what we already know. This years seems easier out the box in terms of hitting. I played on Veteran hitting/ all star pitching last year and it took me a minute but out the box I'm tearing the cover off the ball. Grant it I'm seeing the ball a lot better due to whatever tweaks to this years version but again it seems a lot easier to hit. Slider gurus will fix this
