I did. I was KC @ Chi Sox and had 23 hits and 14 runs..... As the Royals! I was using zone hitting. In my opinion, the difficulty level isn't the issue. The issue is that already in 13' I have seen more balls right down the middle of the plate than I the 2 previous years combined. I really hope that wasn't SCEA's attempt at making the game more "user friendly"
      Off to Legend difficulty...

Loving how when I select a pitch using PP and I'm on point with my accuracy/location and every so often the ball just sails on me even though everything was pinpoint. At anytime a pitch can get away

I gonna also agree with what we already know. This years seems easier out the box in terms of hitting. I played on Veteran hitting/ all star pitching last year and it took me a minute but out the box I'm tearing the cover off the ball. Grant it I'm seeing the ball a lot better due to whatever tweaks to this years version but again it seems a lot easier to hit. Slider gurus will fix this

Hey FW....I also noticed occasional stuttering when I was playing yesterday. Now today, maybe because I had started fresh without all the install stuff, the game is smooth. Just a thought.

I know some of the OS community group stated that sliders would not have to be used much this year. I have already adjusted the pitch speed up: fielder speed, reliever stamina, contact, solid hits and power down on all star. I played on veteran last yr.

As always, the great thing about The Show, is that SCEA provides us with an outstanding selection of playing levels, options etc. and everyone should be able find the 'sweet spot' needed to enjoy the best sports game period.

A couple of notes: You cannot save a game in progress in playoff mode. Once you finish or sim the game, you can then save your playoff mode progress.

After a pitcher has thrown a pitch, if the batter takes the pitch, the OSD that displays the pitch type, speed etc, shows the pitch type like this.... (sorry not a home to show pic)

            slider 88mph
            slider 88mph
            slider 88mph

three times above the home plate visual.
I am sure this will be patched.

After you install, there is a small update available along with an updated roster file.

I will be home this afternoon to get some serious playing time in. Still have not looked at franchise. Bottom line and yes I am a fanboy of The Show, for those of us who are lucky enough and paid a few bucks xtra to get The Show early, SCEA has produced another winner. The best ever sport franchise, has once again improved, and with all the new visuals, it feels very fresh.

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

              Okay, some more observations.

Some additional thoughts while I am waiting for the wife (too much chit-chat with her physician, I mean come on, here I am waiting to get home and play The Show, she wants to talk about her health with the doc )

Load times have improved slightly over last year.

LED stadium ribbons show highlights now, and more.

Balls in the dirt visually now ( I am not talking about mine after the wife comment above. )

Strikeouts seem a little easier to accomplish now when you are pitching. I was watching ClubhouseConfidential on the MLB Network the other day, and K/9 has had a dramatic increase trend the last couple of decades. So I am happy with the K results so far, with a small sample size playing against the CPU.

I played BOS/NY. Sabathia vs Lester. Yanks won 7-3. Pitch counts looked good. The nugget piece of the game was that Youk hit a 3 run hr his first at bat followed with a 2 run bomb his next at bat against his former team. (K'd twice after that) It was very strange seeing Y00K flash across the Yankee scoreboard. Youks hrs were the only ones in the game. The 2 other Yankee runs were unearned. Ichiro had a 11 pitch at bat before he K'd. I noticed a xp 228 osd flash quickly on the lower right part of the TV, part of the new online point system, I assume.

It looks like catcher reaction to a check swing type hit is still too fast.

The view player card in game has improved this year to show more relevant stats.

The new Fast-forward option is great. The only thing I would like to see, would be the default setting on SLOW, instead of FAST. You can use the L1/R1 to move between slow, med and fast while you fast forward. Love the detail you see on the screen while in FF mode with MLB13.

Here come the wife, of course she will have to stop and talk to the receptionist, which will give me enough to time post this, before we head home.

Just lost on a game ending triple play to Boston WTF???? Ended up losing 1-2. Using AS Pitching/Batting. Was down 0-2 going into the top of the 9th and got excited and lost concentration with men on 1st & 3rd and hit a screaming liner to short and the rest I'm sure you all can figure out lol.

                Here is the final boxscore

Guess what, now we need to stop at Costco, before we head home. Well one good thing about Costco is the footlong hotdogs. I'm munching on one now, waiting for my better half to finish with the shopping. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
Thought of some more Show stuff: <o></o>
                    Pregame/Postgame big improvement. <o></o>
If you want, you can have a 'clean screen'. Pitch selections, etc. off. You can press the start button to see the pitchers arsenal if you need to. <o></o>
I like the new voice commentary addition. Lyons(sp) not sure of the name until I get home, is the number 2 guy in the booth after MattyV. Commentary still has room for improvement, but the new guy takes a step forward with the commentary quality. <o></o>
The crowd. Do you remember, just a few yrs ago, we were ragging about face duplication, etc. Every year the crowd evolution has improved, and the same for this year. The Show is hands down the best in this department. <o></o>
Well, finally time to go home. More later.<o></o>

The presentation has taken a really nice step up. I usually turn off the announcing within a hour but this holds up. They say relevant stuff, not too much fluff. More fluff leads to the bad repetition.

As NAFBUC mentioned, the presentation is top notch this year. Love how the players all come on the field after the game is over and at the beginning of the game when the camera foucses on the dugout and the coaches. I cant wait to get out of work so I can fire it up again and get more playing time.

The one thing I was caught off guard with was the throwing meter when fielding. I don't like the way it looks so I just disabled it and will rely on fielder ability instead.

Other than that, both the Vita version and the PS3 version are GREAT!!

EDIT: Going to TRY and play it tonite. Wife called me and is mad about something and wont tell me what until i get home from work

Okay, Taking a break here, I really am into RTTS show, so I will give some impressions. Completely different look and feel just like you are there, very nice camera angles. Hitting well if you think you going to hit alot of opposite field hits you are mistaken because it makes you feel like real pull hitter mostly right field and center I suppose if you can wait on the ball maybe some left field hits, that is the first thing that jumped out at me. My very first hit as a Springfield Cardinal AA was a 3 run HR over the right field fence.I will be testing out the regular MLB games the next few days and give some impressions on pitching ect. The graphics to me seem more sharp and detailed if that is possible and looking forward to checking out more of the cool stuff they have here. For those that enjoy the RTTS it is a real treat , IMO have they have outdone themselves on the RTTS.

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

Some of my first initial impressions.

As has been said, hitting does seem to be a hell of a lot easier than past years. Played a few innings of a game on All-Star pitching and hitting. All-Star this year kind of feels like Veteran last year. I'll probably play a full game on All-Star and then a full game on Hall of Fame to see if there are any big differences.

Presentation is top notch for sure. Really digging the new scorebug and overlays.

Looks like some player models have been tweaked as well. Pitched some with Roy Halladay and he looks spot on to me.

Ball physics are improved too. Had a ball hit to Chase Utley that curved after it went past him and then dropped for a hit. Pretty sweet looking. Chase also made a pretty damn nice one handed grab on a line shot right at him.

Phillies scoreboard graphics were not changed to the new graphics started last year. Still the graphics from the 2011 season. Not a dealbreaker by any means though.

I'm sure I will have more impressions as more games are played.

Question for the rest of you who have the game....the MLB 13 trophies are not showing up in my list of trophies at all. Anyone else having this issue? I'm thinking maybe they will show up starting the 5th, but seems kind of strange that they wouldn't be there already.
