Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I say you should find a low/mid B and bite the bullet.
Arcia + Vargas + Low/mid B for Smoak + Maurer + Capps
It sounds to me from all the posts that it's close and of course all of this being dependent on the spread sheet saying 26yo A potential Smoak = High C. Your getting what you want and you are giving what Seattle needs albeit not exactly MLB ready. Giving a B for Smoak lessens the damage of them possibly not quite being ready come spring training 2014. As Seattle I would do it even though in my head Smoak is worth more and possibly the others are worth more and in my head Seattle should get more. Capps is the only one they are losing that they even have a place for. If the rest of Seattle's prospects are ready next year, then moving Montero to 1st and per-maturely having Arcia or someone else in the OF in 2014 is not going to hurt them and they still have a plethora of other prospects to move if they really, really want that proven ML player now. Just have that last player be ready to play is all I would ask.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Problem is (I now realize it) that Seattle might have the same issue, even with more talent already lining-up in the minors. So this might not be a "value" thing, but more the fact that Seattle already have plenty of those B-players I'm trying to shop, while keeping my starters. My target probably should've been a team that really lacks depth/youth in their system, not a team that already has a lot like the Mariners.
I think I'll stay put to start the season, and watch those players stats after a month or so. If they seem to be doing okay for Seattle, then I'll definately look at other options. If they're struggling, then I might pull the trigger on something close to what you're suggesting, as this is closer to the price I can afford to pay I think.
Alright guys, thank you again for your inputs. My baseball knowledge may not be up to par, but I think I'm learning a lot by reading this thread on a daily basis. Keep it up, noobs like me appreciate you a lot !Last edited by KomicJ; 04-18-2013, 12:43 AM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Staying put is a good idea. COL gives you lots of options on offense. Consider playing Rosario at 1B against LHP. Pacheco, Swanner, whoever at C. Or, Cuddyer at 1B, Rosario at C, etc. You've got lots of options. Colvin is really good against RHP so playing him at 1B or RF is sweet. Helton could be surprisingly good so don't be afraid to give him a few starts. Offense is NOT A PROBLEM for the Rox. I traded for Capuano to give more time for development on the younger SP's and that's it. I'm finding COL to not be enough of a challenge/rebuild for me so I might be switching to a different team soon.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
In my Astros franchise I am looking to trade Bud Norris. He has pitched very well this season, posting a 2.34 ERA so far (it is June 27th). I'm looking to move him to a team in the playoff hunt who needs pitching. 2 teams I have looked at are Texas (3 starters have ERAs above 4.50) and Detroit (need a 5th starter). What could I get for him since he is on fire right now?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
We don't have either to offer....well we have a couple of (OF Castellanos and Garcia) prospects but we wouldn't part with them at this point considering we need them ourselves. Part of my personal frustrations with Tigers organization is exactly this.....we have no depth to trade without taking away from our core. My opinion anyway.Last edited by JDub0820; 04-18-2013, 03:28 PM.Comment

If it's already been half a season or so, what difference would two/three more weeks make? That's a couple starts and if 2-3 starts are gonna change your opinion on the guy, you're still using small sample size. He may have a fluky couple starts. Now's a perfectly fine time to trade him."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

But that's not even true lol, take a look at his monthly career splits. They're not inconsistent at all. His monthly wOBAs are quite consistent(ly good).

The highest jump is from July-August anyways. Granted, none of this is an adequate sample, but it's better than waiting about 3 more starts."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
