My lineup is tough to figure out right now.

    Spoiler

It's looking something like that, but man that's a full lineup, with a bench of Izzy/Shoppach/Boni/Sanchez. Too full for McCann haha!

I like it. That's a true AL lineup, the pitcher will get no room to breathe.

Nice trade. No questions asked about realism/fairness and it helps out both parties.

        Perfect fit.

I'd be insulted if it wasn't so laughable...Whatcha doin' tonight AC? I am not sure if he's even old enough to drink?

WTNY, we are closer in age but I wonder if sometimes you don't want to be wrong or are forgetting the Marlin's MO? Don't get me wrong, you are spot on most of the time and gave me ecxellent advice a few pages back.

However, Loria is your typical rich selfish sycophant bastard who wants to make money. JPA=local boy=HR=butts in seats=revenue. Nobody is going to see Brantly. JPA+Stanton means a bit more revenue than just Stanton.

Also, they make a run, break it down, and retool for another run. They've done it 3x now, failing last year but that is what it was...they broje it down earlier because it was not working.

Their next run is not here yet and Brantly is not Charles Johnson. Looking at their next run, OF looks good, SS is okay, 2B is okay, 3B is a hole. If they had someone pegged for third on their system, maybe I do not know about them. If they do, then I will agree.

Now, JPA might put butts in seats but is he an upgrade to the team? Finally the arb argument holds some water but it is mitigated by revenue. From a GM perspective in MIA, JPA is not even really part of the deal as far as strength of team. So would they so Lugo straight up? I dont know, it is close. That's why I said throw in a fringe arm. Somebody who profiles as a RP but is a SP right now. I think that might have pushed it through.

That is objective thinking, right? Funny, because you usually take the do what you want fir fun side if it and I expect people in here to care about realism...

That said, the McCann deal is probably a safer bet for realism.

Yeah, I figured I'd go for it as it isn't a bad deal and it's safer.

Another perfectly said paragraph from rjackson the great! To the point of that extra arm. Stroman would go good, but is Stroman+JPA+Lugo too much? I mean, you can take back an extra guy like Pierre as a bench man with alot of speed which he lost when he traded Davis. Maybe even Ruggiano. I think that add on will make the trade feel even more complete!

^This is why I didn't give my full endorsement to the Brantly trade. Even though it was fair and could be realistic.. there were questions about the realism aspect and arguments that could be made either way. I know AC is a full-out realism player so that is why I suggested to look elsewhere.

With the McCann deal.. no one can even question the realism aspect to that and as you said, it's just a much safer bet when going for 100% realism. (and it's not like AC is settling for a below average catcher.)

For Brantly? Yes. Much so. We're huge on Stroman.

I am pretty great, aren't I? . Well, it is done and over with now. FWIW, i dramk more from 16-19 than I did at 21 or 22-36 combined!

I am excited, going to look for a new home for Pedro tomorrow! It has been a long week at work! . People need to quit thinking they can outsmart the system.

I personally don't care about what people do in their 'chises, it's for fun (or SHOULD be), BUT if someone comes here bent on needing to do something 100% realistic for their enjoyment, I'm going to be hard on them and scrutinize it. I figure I owe it that much. That's a given.

If someone just wants fair, that's fine too. We help people ALL THE TIME in here, with all levels of needs for absolutely nothing other than the satisfaction of helping out. Totte, nowitsourtime, ACMilan99, G3no (mainly with Rockies, lol), CameRoN0407, and a few others I'm forgetting have answered tens of inquiries and sometimes it's hyper-realistic, sometimes it's borderline cheeser trades. It really depends on what they ask for, ACMilan99 asked for pure realism, which is what he's getting...I hope. Sometimes we disagree, I know. Just search about Mike Olt, CarGo, or Tyler Colvin...

What I don't like is when someone tries to sneak an unrealistic trade in under the guise of realism. And, even worse, when others seem to rubber stamp it!! I have made a whole range of deals with varying levels of realism, but I want to call a spade a spade is all.

No one WANTS to be wrong. But I am known to be from time to time. It's just I haven't been PROVEN wrong or really seen anything that would sway my initial opinion in this JPA/Brantly thing (which is pretty minor anyway...if ACMilan99 does it, it's not gonna bust his 'chise one way or another). In a debate, though, I just don't abandon my positions because SOMEONE ELSE thinks it makes sense. I have recently changed my tune on Lucroy though so it could happen and has happened. But I have to be genuinely convinced.

The whole argument about JPA being a "fan fave" is laughable though. They had a new stadium and what $100M worth of players last year(?), but South Floridians DON'T CARE ABOUT BASEBALL. At least not in the numbers the Marlins would need. Don't kid yourself, rjackson, getting Arencibia will not increase the attendance by 10 fans per game or revenue much at all. It just won't. They hate the ownership, and until that changes, or until they catch lightning in a bottle with the next Trout, the Marlins will continue to execute Loria's strategy you outlined so well. Acquire cheap, dump expensive. The Miami Heat are taking ALL of the revenue down there.
