Anyway, I'm looking to unload some of my top prospects for a "top" pitcher or something like that. Could trade Baez or Almora because I have enough depth in the minors. Not trading Soler though. Would like to get rid of Vogelbach (because I have another 1B prospect that I'm more interested in). Vizcanio too because I have enough young pitching too, and he's near-MLB ready. And there could be one or two other prospects that I'd like to throw in as well.

The reason why I'm looking to unload some of the prospects because I already have some great, GREAT younger prospects in the lower levels, plus a "few" friends of mine that I created as a prospect (in which I'll develop them realistically) and also there's Kris Bryant as well.

Just for reference: I've already gotten rid of Marmol, Soriano and Schierholtz.

I've thought about possibly David Price, but that might be too much, maybe?

I'm probably looking for a pitcher or possibly an outfielder. Brett Jackson isn't just cutting it for me anymore (he could be tradeable as well).

So, any suggestions/ideas at all? Obviously it'll be some sort of a blockbuster trade, but I'd like to have some at least logical behind it.

    Thanks!!
I suppose Price could be a possibility but Baez would have to stick at SS because Longo is locked up for the rest of his career...

Baez, Vizcaino, Almora, Vogelbach, Maples for Price?

What kind of outfielder are you looking for? Corner OF? CF? Speed or power?

It could be any kind of an outfielder, I guess, since I'm a little short on outfielders (Soriano/Schierholtz/DeJesus all are gone now). You could say a slugger/power. I have enough speed now so I should be good. But it would be nice if the outfielder could be a "placeholder" for 2-3 years before my top OF prospects come up.

As for the Price one, that might be a little hefty for me, but again, it's understandable. Any other "top" pitchers that could work?

EDIT: I know the Cubs finished last in league in 2013, but in 2014, I'm sorta going to "go for it." I'm going to be in a Win-Now-ish mode while I'm rebuilding on the side. I'm hoping to be at least a contender for most of the season.

You'll probably have to overpay to get a true "ace" pitcher. I would say to get Yovani Gallardo but that's unrealistic due to same division trading. Hmmm, it's really a tough one to figure out. I was going to say James Shields but he's a FA after 2013 so he just got a new deal in your 'chise. Maybe you could go afte Lincecum as a rebound project but it'll be hard to get a true #1 or #2 pitcher. Now that I think of it, Cliff Lee? If the Phillies were subpar last year in your franchise, they might trade him. I'd imagine he has declined though. What teams were disappointments in your previous year of your franchise?

As for OF guys, Josh Willingham? Alex Rios? Andre Ethier really isn't a slugger per se, but he'd be available for a trade. Carlos Quentin? Just throwing some names out, feel free to say other guys you might be interested in.

Been doing some spring training games to get a feel for the pitching staff and some offensive players. Gonna be a lot of DFA's and outright demotions because the 40 man from OD was really bad. I know for a fact that I'll be getting Capuano from the Dodgers as my no 4 or no 5 guy in exchange for a low-mid C. Would like to deal some more but it sort of depends on injuries on the other teams and their needs. I've compiled a list of players I'm willing to move if the opportunity comes knocking . Probably nothing major though and simply deals to clear 40-man roster space in exchange for minor league depth. Like what I've seen from Marlins Park through exhibition games so far. We'll see how I feel after a full season of games there

Edit: Can a red hot Miguel Olivo who's among the league leaders in HR during spring fetch me a high C from a catching starved team? I know in fantasy spring numbers doesn't mean a thing but a bopper like him platooning with Ellis in LA? A veteran prescense along with Castro in Houston? Olivo instead of Marson as the backup in Cleveland? Flowers needing a solid veteran behind him in Chicago?

Maybe not Price, but how about Jeremy Hellickson? Who do you think could work for him?

I know he's still relatively young, but im willing to give up some for him.

As for outfielders, Willingham isn't so bad. Either could work. Matt Joyce? Seth Smith? Someone from the D-backs system (they've got buttloads of prospects).

A replacement for JPA in AC's franchise?

Yeah I think he could fetch a high C from the right team. What about Arizona? I know Montero is terrible at hitting lefties and he could platoon with him for the year.

That's a good call. Didn't think about the Snakes but their backup is Wil Nieves so a move from KT to get a proven guy like Olivo would make sense. They've got some nice pitchers and outfielders and the system that I need to take a closer look at. Thanks

Vogelbach+ low B (pardon me, I don't know the Cubs system too too well) for Hellickson should be enough.

So I take it you're looking for a LH bat? If the Dbacks were out of it, you could get Jason Kubel. Seth Smith is worth a mid C while Kubel is two high C's and Joyce is worth a Low B so take your pick on which one you would like.

New to the forums but not new to The Show. I am in my third season of franchise mode with the Red Sox and just completed this trade. Wanted to see what you think.

                      Red Sox get :
                      Giancarlo Stanton

                      Marlins get:
Will Middlebrooks 86 Overall B potential
Allen Webster 87 overall A Potential
Carmen Lucero (Drafted power hitting 1b prospect Top 50)

In addition, I made a seperate trade given the amount of players the game allows you to trade.

                      Red Sox get:
Kyle Lohse (61 overall in decline)

                      Marlins get:
Teddy Stankevitch SP (Top 50 prospect)
Will Cole 2B (Top 50 prospect)

So in essence I gave up an MLB third baseman, a future front of teh rotation starter, and 3 top 50 prospects for Stanton. Fair? Overpay? Your thoughst?

Honestly, nothing could relly be an overpay for Stanton. Although 4 A's is quite a hefty sum. You could've got away swapping one of your top 50 prospects for just a B potential though.

I liked how you said X player is worth C prospect while Y player is B prospect, etc etc. It's very clear, so it's helpful!

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm 4 days from the trade deadline and I want to move Tex and CC from my team. Currently 16.5 from the WC and 20 from the division leaders. I asked a few pages back but got no respond.

I'm thinking of sending CC to the M's. They are now 7 games up of the division. Their pitching has been strong. However Felix is out on the 15 day DL and Iwakuma is out for 38 days. Would I be able to get Taijuan from them? I'm sure if the M's where in the hunt they wouldn't mind trading for another ace.

Maybe Tex out to the Rockies? They are a game out of the WC and 5 of the division. Could I get Story from them? If not the Rockies then the Pirates (1.5 games ahead of the Cards) or the Giants (division leaders). Belt is now hitting .214.

So here's a quick recap. CC to the M's for Taijuan and a C prospect? and Tex to the Rockies for Story? or to the Pirates for Taillon? or the Giants for Crick?

Here are the stats for both:

                                CC 8-4 3.11 era
                                Tex .298 22 HR 67 RBI

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
