Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Lol, it's funny, I'm huge on the show realism and fairness stuff, but when it comes to real life trades I'm terrible haha. btw your trade is fine if it's after July 15"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
idk if this has been asked before but I have a franchise going with the Tigers in early July and Phil Coke, Bruce Rondon, and Joaquin Benoit have all struggled with their chances at closer. Right now I have Drew Smyly in there, he's doing OK but he isn't the highest rated guy and I think he's eventually going to struggle. Plus I use him as my 6th starter if there's an injury so I'd rather keep him in relief where I can easily transfer him to the rotation.
Right now I'm looking at Jonathan Papelbon, Steve Cishek, and Huston Street. Do you think there's anyway I could get Papelbon without giving up Castellanos? I'm thinking about these trades, let me know which one I should pull the trigger on.
Avisail Garcia/Casey Crosby/Bruce Rondon/Andy Dirks for Jonathan Papelbon/Michael Stutes
Casey Crosby/Al Alberquerque/Danry Vazquez for Steve Cishek
Avisail Garcia/Casey Crosby for Huston Street
Papelbon, Cishek, and Street are all having typical solid seasons. Rondon had an ERA over 5 before I sent him down but is doing well at triple a and has potential. Al Alberquerque has a 3.87 ERA but I tried him at closer and he blew 2 out of 2 saves and walks a lot of guys. Crosby, Vazquez, and Garcia have all spent the whole year so far in the minors but they are doing solid with B potentials. Dirks is hitting ok, .274 with 7 hr but I don't see him in my long term plans and I'm ready to call up Castellanos.Last edited by Kauffman King; 06-24-2013, 10:15 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Another guy you could look at is Rafael Betancourt. If the Rockies fall way out of contention you could trade for him and move Rex Brothers to their closer role.
How are all of those teams doing in the standings? I don't think anyone is going to be trading their closer if they have a shot at the playoffs.
(So Cishek should be available for sure)Last edited by G3no_11; 06-24-2013, 11:31 PM.Denver Broncos

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks again to everyone who helped me with the Cubs trades yesterday. Today I'm going to take a look at a possible trade for the Astros, and then that should be it for major moves in my 2013 season.
Players I'm looking to trade (Stats of June 16th):
Bud Norris - 4-7, 4.60 ERA, 92 IP, 91 H, 66 K, 32 BB, 3.315 DIPS
Jose Veras - 14/15 SV, 1.76 ERA, 15 IP, 9 H, 6 BB, 17 K
Brandon Barnes (B Pot) - .262/.333/.458 in 107 AB's
Brett Wallace - .258/.308/.403, 8 HR
Kyle Weiland (B Pot, AAA) - 3-0, 2.31 ERA, 74 IP, 63 H, 58 K, 18 BB
1B/3B Bobby Borchering (Pot increased to B, AAA) - .300/.357/.558, 13 HR
I'd really like to get Aaron Hicks from the Twins. He's having a good year (.290/.365/.525) but is out for at least a month with a broken shin. Do you think I have the pieces? In the spreadsheet Hicks and Norris are worth the same, but Hicks is having the better year for sure.
Glen Perkins is really sucking for the Twins (6.23 ERA) so I was thinking of starting with a package of Norris (becomes 2nd best SP on the staff), Veras, and Weiland (Twins need pitching prospects). Do you think it would be fair (not necessarily realistic) to get Hicks for a combination of the guys above?Comment

What are each teams record as of June 16th?
I'm thinking Norris, Cosart and Veras for Hicks, Perkins and a lower ranked prospect off their 40 man rosterFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Vera's doesn't really carry any real trade value even though he's been pitching well for you. Norris is the gem of the deal for the Twins of course but I'm almost sure they'd insist on Cosart over Weiland. Barnes would have to be included in the deal as some sort of stopgap while Buxton matures. Perkins is highly valued in Minnesota and I'm sure they'd ride it out IRL but this is a videogame so go for it

So maybe Norris + Veras + Cosart + low-B MIF for Hicks and a couple minor league relievers.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Is anyone familiar with the Dodgers prospect system?
I'm in the 2014 offseason (after a lot of playing and a little simming), and David Price ended up costing me a whopping 16 million on his last year. Price pitched incredible last year, so I'm not completely ruling out an extension (nor a mid-season trade), but this really puts a hamper on my rotation as I want to start two of the three in Colome, Odorizzi, or Archer.
However, I am shifting my attention to dealing Hellickson (decent season, 4.50 ERA or so. I'm away from The Show ATM for all stats), and I am seeing the Dodgers as a potential fit. I'd like an OF and bullpen arm close to MLB-ready if possible.
Does this seem fair:
- OF: Alex Castellanos
+
One of these
- P: Rob Rasmussen
- P: Aaron Miller
- P: Steve Ames
- P: Josh Wall
?
After some deliberation, I also ended up not trading for Craig Gentry, but instead went with a one year deal for Chris Young to man LF after Oakland decided not to pick up his option.
Any help is always appreciated as always, and I want to gauge if I am overvaluing Hellickson or not.Comment

Hellickson to the Dodgers for Paco Rodriguez and Tim Federowicz is fine.
------ (spoilers for anyone reading my chise) -------
So my jaw has been on the floor for a solid minute. In the first pitch of Brian McCann's first at bat as a Blue Jay, he takes Hisashi Iwakama deep for a 2 run shot. Keep in mind, I don't hit that many dingers. Just a little update for you guys lol, I'm shocked."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
So I have a tough choice in my franchise. I'm the Padres and we were 5 games under .500after April. So I sent gyroko to the minors cuz he was doing horrible. And traded for uggla. Did the trade suggested in here. Uggla has been great and has helped us get to a 38-25 record right now. The problem is since I sent gyroko down he has gotten 2 stock rising emails and his potential is more am A. I would like to call him up but then I would have a cluster. I could leave him in the minors for the rest of the year or trade headley since gyroko can play third.
If I trade headley was thinking of a trade like this
Padres recieve: Stanton
Marlins receive: headley, maybin, hedges (A potential catcher), either one of my A potential SP, my B potential closer In the minorsComment
