Someone suggested trading for Getz and this is what I'm going to deal

SP Robert Whitenack (low B, 3.45 ERA 6.39 K/9 in AAA)
1B/3B Jeimer Canderlario (low B, no stats in A)
2B/SS Arismendy Alcantara (mid B, .244/.328/.370 in AA)

    to the Royals for

    2B Chris Getz (79 ovr, .304/.360/.467, 4 SB)
    RP Aaron Crow (88 ovr, 3-4, 3.16 ERA, 9.82 K/9)

btw I'm the Cubs at the deadline in 2014. The Royals don't have an impact prospect at 1B or 2B so I think Canderlario and Alcantara would be two prospects they would target. Their SP is pretty bad so I thought about putting in Baret Loux (low B) who is MLB ready but I thought they would rather have the younger guy in Whitenack. The spreadsheet says two mid B's for Crow and a mid C for Getz but Getz lost his starting job to Christian Colon so I don't think he carries as much value, which is why I went with two low B's and one mid B instead of two mid B's. Is it fair/realistic?
I think that you're overpaying for Getz. Sure his numbers are good but it looks like Getz is a bench bat, nothing more. As for Crow, it's hard to see the Royals trading him but if they did I think a couple mid Bs would be fair.

I don't think the Royals would take Canderlario because they already have Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas firmly entrenched at the corners for the foreseeable future and I doubt that they'd want to create a log jam there unless Canderlario was a special bat.

I think probably a low C for Getz and a pair of Mid Bs for Crow. As for the package, I would think the Royals would want arms or decent Middle Infield prospects.

Yeah they'd really have to be in contention though, which they aren't so far.

Maybe I'll have to look elsewhere if neither would be reasonable targets

If you wanted to trade Cliff Lee, I bet you could get a pretty good package from Texas... It probably wouldn't include Jurickson Profar but I bet you could get Mike Olt, Jorge Alfaro and maybe something else. I'm not really familiar with how Texas thinks but that could be an option.

Cliff Lee is DEFINITELY a target I want to trade at the deadline. I'm just waiting to see if the Phillies do it in real life, and I'll make the trade they made. If they don't trade him irl I'll probably go for Olt, Perez, and maybe Alfaro.

Gratifying to know you're looking into my suggestion. I agree with Royals19 that the original package sort of deals prospects to where they already have guys (Escobar/Moustakas/Hosmer), so here are some other options:

Brett Jackson + Chris Rusin/Brooks Raley

              Dan Vogelbach + Logan Watkins

Dillon Maples + Matt Szczur (Maples is very talented but can't catch a break)

There are some other possibilities, but basically prospects at 2B/OF/P, and a guy like Vogelbach who could replace Billy Butler someday would interest the Royals.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Alright so I'm in early July with my Phillies franchise, a couple games up in the division. I don't know for sure what I want right now but I'm looking at some starting pitching and maybe a 3B. I know Toronto hasn't really been that happy with Ricky Romero and Brett Lawrie in real life so I'm looking at a Romero/Lawrie package as a potential option.

In the values chart it lists Romero as a low B and high C and lists Lawrie as a low A. The thing is that Lawrie (.290/.367/.502) and Romero (3.72 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 7.29 K/9) are both outperforming their ratings and imo their values even though Toronto is way out of contention. So what I'm asking is what would be a Romero/Lawrie value if both of them are doing that well? idc if it's unrealistic, just looking for an accurate value in terms of # of players and potential.

Well, I'm high on Lawrie so I would say he would cost a couple A's, which the Phil's don't have. Actually, the only A on OSFM OD is Darin Ruf, so I don't think you could do it. As for Romero, He would only cost Tyler Cloyd straight up.

As the Phillies, it might be difficult to provide some young prospects for those guys

Ok so I have a trade seriano and would like to know if it is realistic and fair.

This trade only works if the mets are in playoff contention.

                              Yankees Trade:
                              OF- Curtis Granderson
                              SP- Phil Hughes

                              Mets Trade:
                              SP-Zack Wheeler
                              SP-Rafael Montero

Would the Yankees be getting to much or to less. Let me know.

No chance at all. First of all, Wheeler's too good, so it's not fair. Montero's good too. Second, the Yankees and Mets just won't ever make a trade like this--too much at stake in the media there to lose a deal like this. Also, the Mets can't afford Grandy's contract (or Hughes for that matter).
