In this scenario if the Brewers are out of it I believe they would much prefer a prospect over Lind.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

So I restarted my Cubs franchise a few days ago and I am at the end of May.

The Mariners offered me a trade and I am not sure if I should take it or not.

      Mariners get:
      Carlos Marmol (2-1, 2.98 ERA, 10.95 K/9, .243 AVG)
Jorge Soler (.359 AVG, 10 HR, .409 OBP in AAA)

      Cubs get:
Jesus Montero (.263 AVG, 4 HR, .308 OBP)

Now according to the sheet Marmol is worth a high D and Soler is worth two high Bs. Montero is worth 3 high Cs. So with that said I feel the Mariners should give up a tad bit more or just do Soler for Montero straight up.

Also since I am using the roster with this year's draft, Seattle has Mike Zunino for their future catcher.

      What do you guys think?

I wouldn't do it. Montero is pretty much strictly a DH, and Soler is a really good prospect.

Just to be on the safe side, I probably wouldn't make this trade. I think there is too many questions about the realism aspect. I think fairness is fine, but considering how realistic of a player you like to be, I probably wouldn't do it.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. If you're set on going through with the deal, then I say Seattle's gonna have to throw in some more. I think even a Soler for Montero deal would be too one-sided in Seattle's favor.

But, I don't think Montero is really suited for an NL club.

No. Jesus Montero really isn't that great and considering how great Soler is doing in AAA, he could have a pretty big boost next year and be a solid starter for you.

I don't think that it's a good deal. Soler's doing really good for you and the Mariners don't need anymore pitchers. Plus, Montero can't really play catcher and is better suited for a DH role (which isn't an option in the NL).

No, don't do it. Soler is a top prospect, and raking it in AAA in your 'chise. Soler is easliy your future. Montero is a horrible defender, and more suited at DH, which the Cubs don't need.

If you really need a catcher, I'd try aiming at the Red Sox or the Rockies as they have a surplus of catching

Well I appreciate all of your answers and help. I definitely wasn't going to do the original trade but wasn't sure of the 1 for 1 trade. I am looking for a young catcher who can contribute by next season because the cubs have nothing right now. I will look into some other options and get back to you guys. Thanks

What is a fair and semi realistic trade to get Dan uggla on the Padres.

Depends on how he's doing but how about Boxberger and Forsythe for Uggla?

I don't see him as a particularly good fit with an NL team. I think the trade should look something like JPA + Mid B Prospect + High-Mid Cish Prospect for Lucroy + KRod.

I would be okay with keeping Lind haha, by all means. I could definitely do that. I may overpay to keep the realism aspect, maybe D.J. Davis + JPA + Kenny Wilson or something.

Yeah something like that. The Padres still have Gyorko/Amarista at 2B even after the trade of Forsythe plus you're adding Uggla to the mix. Anything we need to know to help you find a better match? You building up for another deal including Gyorko by adding Uggla?
