Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys first time poster in here and I was wondering if I could get some input from you guys....
I'm the Rockies and currently in the middle of June, I've managed to play .500 ball 33-33 right now in the middle of a series against the Nats and I need a new closer Betancourt just isn't getting it done for me he has an ERA of 3.74 and I can't seem to miss a bat he's had 4 blown saves. Just gave up one in my last game when I was up by 2. Anyways, I went to the trade block to see if there was anyone I could go out there and get and one of the guys that caught my eye was Sean Doolittle for the As. I checked the spreadsheet and it is saying that all I need to give up is a low B to acquire him and I'm not sure that would be all that fair for his current production. He currently has a 1.21 ERA, a .168 opp ba, and a 8.92K/9...plus he's there lefty set-up guy.
So I was wondering if I should indeed give up more than a low B guy to acquire him or if that'd be fair....also what would constitute a low B guy rating/age wise
ThanksComment

Betancourt is a very good closer in real life, but if he were to start struggling, Rex Brothers would be the guy to take over the role.
Maybe try that out for a few weeks (until the trade deadline) and see if that could be a solution instead of making a trade.Denver Broncos

How are the A's doing? If they're dropping out of the race, they'd be more inclined to move a setup man.
You could offer someone like Tyler Anderson or Chad Bettis for him. They'd be interested in prospects, pitching prospects mostly.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I would give the edge to Jennings at the plate. He possesses some pop and has been a better hitter at the plate in the majors far. (Granted there is a small sample size with Gose. He struggled mightily last year but is performing better this year. Time will tell if his bat will translate in the bigs.
Gose does field CF better. Jennings got most of his DRS and UZR performing from LF last year while Gose did better in center rather than left.
Jennings performed very well on the basepaths last year. He stole 31 bases and only got caught stealing twice.
Overall, the Rays wouldn't give up CF to Gose as of right now so he doesn't possess any immediate value to them. I still think an infielder paired with Rasmus would intrigue the Rays more than adding Gose with Rasmus as wellComment

Eh, I think they'd stick with Molina to help out the pitching staff. They definitely benefit from his superior pitch framing abilities.

When both bats are bad and one is marginally better, but when the worse bat is much better at defense (you can't just rely on semi-flawed metrics, eye test has to help in Gose's SSS), you go with Gose.
Rasmus + Boni for Odorizzi + Sale would be intriguing if Colby was playing like a 4 WAR player like he is IRL, though.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys would Seattle be into a Arencibia/Montero swap...with more pieces of course. Saw the M's want to upgrade him and JP in mine is batting .332 with 20 HR and around 40 RBI at July 1, so I was looking at possibly selling him high in a month at the deadline.
Not sure on Montero's numbers I would need to check them when I fire up the game but I would imagine not close to JP's meaning I could possibly get Montero and maybe another piece or upgrade somewhere? Again just looking at some possibilities atm and know there are lots of Jays and M's fans here
If no on Montero what are some realistic/fair spots for JP where I could cash on his stats?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Read on MLBTR that the Yankees might deal Ichiro now that Granderson is back and Wells and Gardner are playing so well.
I am thinking about bringing him back to the M's. I could use a better defensive player in RF and move Morse (.297 18 HR's) to DH and Morales (.300 with 14 HR) in a trade (because Smoak is actually performing in my franchise .277 with 11 HR)
However the spreadsheet says a Mid B and low B plus unrealistic because of the extension. The M's never got B prospects (both Farquhar and Mitchell are C's an low ones at that) and they had talked extension with Ichiro before the trade, so I would say it's somewhat realistic that they would want him back and to have him retire as a Mariner. I just don't want to overpay to get him back.
I was thinking something like Mitchell or Farquhar plus Thames or maybe even trade them back another former yankee prospect in A. Amonte whom I have in A ball. Mitchell was 4-0 in AA but just move him to AAA. Farquha is 3-4 with a mid 3.00 ERA in the M's bullpen. Amonte was batting .240 with 4 SB's before being demoted and Thames just came off the DL and is batting over .300 with 3 HR's.
Ichiro is batting .240 with 2 HR and 8 SB's. or something close to that.Comment

Also, the M's have Zunino coming, so they're not going to try and "upgrade" their current catcher to block him harder.
It's not likely any team does a catcher for catcher swap when neither are prospects anymore.

If they're in the hunt, you'd probably have to give them MLB talent at a position of weakness. Maybe Capps/Pryor + Brendan Ryan? Ryan could be a D-sub for Jeter and play some 3rd. Capps and/or Pryor could setup and be candidates to replace Mo when he retires. They'd love Seager too, and Montero fits, but obviously no on Montero. If you want to deal Seager, you could add a bit more to their side.
EDIT: Just took a look at your 'chise.
So I think you could deal them prospects. Maybe low B and low C. I don't think it'd be realistic to just basically redo the prior deal and send all their former prospects back though. Probably need to send other prospects.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 06-11-2013, 02:13 AM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Cabrera is hitting .310+ for me but Tampa Bay is in last place in the division by quite a bit (7-10 games back). Would this deal still be possible?Comment
