TO: Miami Marlins
FROM: Seattle Mariners
SUBJECT: Giancarlo Stanton
As you know, we are in dire need of a young, proven power hitter. We felt we offered a more than fair offer for Justin Upton and would like to offer you something similar for the beast that is Giancarlo Stanton.
Our opening offer is:
SS Nick Franklin (AAA) - .304 avg 5 hr 52 hits 30 rbi
SP James Paxton (AAA) - 9-2 w-l 2.21 era 113 so 27 bb
SP Danny Hultzen (AAA) - 3-4 w-l 5.49 era 67 so 23 bb
for
RF Giancarlo Stanton (MLB) - .284 avg 10 hr 71 hits 40 rbi
We know you just traded for Adeiny Hechavarria and he is the shortstop of the future for the Marlins as it stands now but Nick Franklin could easily be moved to second base and develop into one of the league's premier offensive players at that position. Or you could play Mr. Franklin to third and he will be the long term solution at the hot corner. Both James Paxton and Danny Hultzen project to be at least be middle of the rotation starters and have the makeup and stuff to be dominant.
This would also help the Marlins image as it pertains to the fans and the locker room as Mr. Stanton made it very clear he was unhappy with the way this last off-season was handled by the Marlins' front office. Also, you won't have to worry about cracking open that checkbook to sign Mr. Stanton long term. This trade will also allow the Marlins to eventually have an outfield of Christian Yelich, Jake Marisnick, and Marcell Ozuna.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
P.S. Stats are as of June 17th 2013 in my Mariners Franchise. If you want more stats I would be glad to provide them. Oh, the Mariners are 36-35 and 9.0 games behind in the division race while the Marlins are 28-42 and 14.0 games out in the NL East.
