They need to patch this. Once you see it, it's a pretty ovious bug.

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
In exhibition/franchise/postseason mode the problem really isn't that prevalent because it's mainly just the first pitch of an inning, the bigger issue seems to be RTTS but I can't speak to that because I've yet to try the mode. All of this aside however, yes I do agree its a fantastic baseball game.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
Thanks for all your effort in the thread, and I'm very sorry for discounting you guys' concern earlier. Now I can see there is an issue (though for me in batting practice only), but I really haven't been able to reproduce the issue on my end even when I tried, so it's been difficult to fairly evaluate the situation.Comment

Where do you vote on the bug reports? I'm on this page, but I'm not seeing where I vote.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I don't really see anything all that different from previous years. The CPU is notorious for throwing first pitch fastballs for strikes. It's been like this for as long as I can remember (all the way back to '08). I don't really know if they're "meatballs" though since they're not always straight down the middle, but fairly close.
I wouldn't mind seeing a change or patch to allow the cpu to throw other pitches more frequently on the first pitch.
A good way to test whether or not its really a "meatball" issue is to set a curveball or changeup to "99" across the board so it's their best pitch. Also, take their fastball and drop it "0" accross the board. Then play some random games and see if they still throw the terrible fastball down the middle as a "meatball" on first pitches. If they start throwing the curveball down the middle you'll know it's an issue with their "primary" pitch being used as a meatball pitch on first pitches rather than strictly a fastball issue.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
So I've played 3 full games and then first few innings of 2 or 3 others to test this out...
I really hate to cry wolf, but this seems to be a pretty consistent issue. The CPU throws first pitch strikes on nearly every at-bat. I'm not talking just strikes, I'm talking outright, fastball meatballs. My study isn't scientific, and I don't have an exact count, but especially in the first few innings this is a problem. The first pitch of the ball game has been a meatball every game. You can literally sit on the first pitch and hammer it.
I have yet to tease out whether the CPU can adapt, but its a problem that I can jump out to an easy, fat lead.
Anyone else experiencing this? This strikes me as a huge problem.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
For those guys who have this issue, how did you create your initial profile? Beginner? Or didn't create?
I started with Expert and then customized to my liking. Never had the issue.
Just trying to see if we did anything differently.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
Wow its amazing to me how obvious of a bug this is going so iffy on these boards. I mean were talkin about a game that has nailed realism to a T on previous versions and this is a kind of been tossed around like a possibility. I have been playing the show for a long time and refuse to start 13 until this is patched. I have no prob goin back to 12 if its not its a real bad one not even close to mvps lefty bug but enough to wait imoComment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I remember that one. That one was SO frustrating because a LOT of people just flat out refused to recognize it as an issue until the developers flat out said, "yeah, we know about it" and issued a patch.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I wasn't trying to deny the existence of problem though. I just have not been able to replicate the problem on my games at all... .... nd there were some overlap with the discussion as to how CPU in the game tends to pound strike zone (which it does at times)... which made things totally confusing.
... a bug is something to be found and reported, but AI adjustment talkes totally a different level of process....Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
Beginner is how I uh... began. I never finished it I don't think, I got bored somewhere around beginner rank 5/6, and switched to All-Star, then Hall of Fame.Comment
