The way it should work is the earlier you tell your runner what to do, the smoother the rounding of the base....I've told runners to go home almost as soon as the ball leaves the bat and they still go to 3rd, stop, then try to run home. Of course, they get gunned at the plate (and they don't hit the catcher like I want either). Very frustrating...

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
The only time I have ever seen anyone actually able to score from second is when the throw is off and the catcher has to move away from the plate to get it. Every single time the catcher is getting the ball before the runner gets to home.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
Guys in my experience highlighting the baserunner at 2nd and targeted him to go home using X(Default baserunning) causes the slowdown.
Try using L1 on singles hit up the middle the runner at 2nd will be at 3rd before the batter reaches 1st and this seems to alleviate the problem of the slowdown as he rounds 3rd without the slowdown if you keep L1 pressed down.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
I saw suggested earlier in the thread to lower arm strength slider down to 3. Has anyone tried this, and if so how much of a difference does it make?Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
Nor do i, with any ability of runner.
I agree with those that say that the theory behind this is good, not all runners should be able to motor round 3rd at top speed, but the implementation of it is not good, im seeing way too many speedsters thrown out on plays at the plate they should have easily made were it not for the predetermined quicksand pit at 3rd.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
A good workaround is to hold L1 immediately and throughout the turn, and let go after he makes the turn and before your hitter gets to 1st.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
I'm not seeing it too much with my runners either, but I haven't played the game (or really any game) in a couple of weeks so I can't really recall what I press.
I see it with the CPU runners, though. I threw them out all the time early on. This is still a problem with the CPU, even if it isn't with users.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
I think going by the game logic that if it isn't a sure scoring opportunity the game's "A.I. logic" won't expect you to send the runner, and so it triggers the awkward slowdown trying to simulate poor base running. This is kind of what it seems like Russell is trying to say. And it takes other things into consideration like the line up, number of outs and so on.
The problem is that base hits up the middle aren't always a sure scoring opportunity. Sometimes it's a gamble and it's up to the manager and 3rd base coach to send him or not. The mistake IMO, is taking certain aspects of control out of the players hands. This kind of thing will only frustrate the player unless it's clear as day why things play out the way they do.Comment
