Has anyone with the game used Analog controls, and if so, any difference as to how hitting/pitching/throwing is in 14 compared with previous years?

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread
Two things I haven't seen asked yet. Last year two of the bigger issues which got patched later were:
1. First pitch of every at-bat meatballs. We found that if you called a timeout (D-pad down) before the pitcher threw his pitch it would fix it. It later got patched fortunately. Just checking to make sure it didn't creep back in!
2. In franchise mode if you simmed or played spring training after it finished players would get rather big rating boosts. So they would increase rating from this plus at the end of the season. It led to some inflation to say the least. We found that if you used the 'End Spring Training' button and skipped it without even simming it this wouldn't happen. Does this still occur?Comment

Gameplay question incoming..
You guys mentioned how you can now tilt your head and look back a runner on 1st or 3rd.. does the CPU do this maneuver as well without attempting a pickoff? Just stare you down then throw the pitch?Comment

For 2014, the Mets will wear a military-camouflage alternate jersey in Monday evening home games beginning April 21.
Hopefully not that silly black jersey that they haven't worn in a couple seasons. That would have been the spot to add at least one of the blue alternates.

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread
I'm not really sure what you mean by control and input. Its random as far as I can tell. Pitching I've started a game off in say a 2-2 count, that guy reaches. Now next ab, its still early and my pitchers confidence is still high, maybe I get a 1-1 count or maybe I get lucky and get 0-2. On the flip side, say I started off 3-2 and that guy reaches, then next batter its 2-2 and he draws a walk..Well third batter I might be down 3-0 and the inning just spirals out of control. I will pay more attention and write down some of the counts in key situations and how my pitcher responded. Its hard to go off memory what the exact situations were. But it doesn't seem to be predetermined, like anytime you have 2 on, the next count will automatically be a hitters count. You might get thrown a bone and get 0-2 or 1-2, with a chance to get out of the inning. I'm assuming this does tie into pitcher confidence.
I guess what Im asking does quick counts feel alot like the regular full game but now just with compressed gameplay or does it feel totally different programming wise ?
Thanks again for all the great info ! Oh and can you please let us know if you have the time do you see guys like elite aces having better count advantages all the time than say 5th starter scrubs with quick counts or is it programmed for randomness at times like the regular gameplay version .
You guys are making this very tough on me so I might have to get my PS4 early because of your great Impressions !Last edited by THESHAMISASHAME; 03-27-2014, 03:11 AM.Finally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Dreams do come true ! To Garryowen and Glory boys !Comment

Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread
I was getting better counts with Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, and Nathan than with the rest of the pitchers on the tigers. I think the algorithm is tied to the quality of the pitcher. At first, it felt like the pitch counts ended up getting too high too soon, but it might have just be a statistical aberration as the next few games my starters got into the 7th and 8th. The only thing I noticed one has to look out for is the bullpen substitutions. You need to use the "schedule to pitch" option if you want to start an inning with a reliever. Otherwise the quick count gets attributed to the previous pitcher and he's got another batter faced running down his stamina and impacting recovery time.
Oh does classic pitching with quick counts feel just like the regular game version but now just compressed so every at bat is thrilling or do or die with lots of strategy ?
Its probably gonna be pretty cool when you all of a sudden have a no hitter going so as NYYanks26 said pitcher confidence and Control will again play a huge role but from what it sounds like Im really gonna like this mode getting right to the point as the drawn out drama pitch by pitch just wore me out after a few 2 to 3 hour games , just to intense for me playing a lot games unless Im watching in MOM mode .Last edited by THESHAMISASHAME; 03-27-2014, 02:52 AM.Finally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Re: MLB The Show 14 Questions and Answers Thread
For anyone who has the game I was wondering how the pitchers repertoires look this year, and if they have improved in that area? Also wondering if the motions and batting stances are better for the pitchers this year?
This is the 1 major flaw with the game, is they give basically every player a straight change, when in reality very few throw a regular changeup, as most throw circle changes, and quite a few throw splitfinger fastballs. They also give every pitcher a 4 seamed fastball when more need to have running FB's, 2 seamers, and sinkers.
I dont mind the 4 seamer as much as I do them not getting the changeups right, but wish whoever does the pitch repertoires did more research in this area.
Thankfully there is some great guys on this site like seenjeezy who understand the pitchfx sheets, and edit the pitchers, but they shouldnt have to do that to make the game what it should be to begin with.
This is such a great game, its really hard to complain much, but this is really the only thing that I find frustrating. I wish I wasnt so OCD about this stuff, but unfortunately I am. ThanksEveryone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11
