Re: MLB 14 The Show Impressions From the Community (PS Vita)

I bought the physical copy yesterday. I like it much better than 13. The Dynamic camera is a nice addition. It's great finally seeing the pitchers in the bullpen. I have noticed a few more animations and hit variety. Overall, I'm glad with the purchase and I will not return to 13 for the Vita. It will go into my trade in for the PS4 version.

Oh, and quick counts is the best addition, in my opinion. I absolutely love that feature.

The only thing I have noticed that's an issue, and others have stated it as well, is the stamina bar missing for relievers.

I only noticed one framerate drop and it was on a foul ball. So no big deal there.

Caved in and picked up the physical copy on my lunch break today (I knew I couldn't stay away from this series; it's too good).

Going to try out Dynamic Difficulty and Quick Counts. Should be fun.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Impressions From the Community (PS Vita)

I've noticed a weird bug in RTTS. Sometimes, when on-base, if I tap R to take a lead, my player will get stuck leaning forward and I can't increase or decrease my lead or lean the other way. If the pitcher throws over and I make a move to get back to the base, my player WILL dive back, but otherwise, he just stays stuck in that position.
A screaming comes across the sky...

Anybody notice the edit player bug? When playing a season, if you edit a player's features they save, however they don't actually show up when you play a game. So if you change how a player looks - they won't look like that when the game plays.

Yeah unfortunately that was an issue last year too. Most Vita issues just don't get addressed. The fictional player faces are pretty terrible overall.

only thing I have noticed is that it sometimes hangs trying to go from a completed RTTS game back to the main menu. Really annoying.

Absolutely. Love. this. game. Hope they fix the bullpen stuff though.

Yes Yes... A million times yes!! I felt like I was the only one complaining about this last year. I'd be willing to edit all the faces to not look like chipmunks- if they only allowed me to do so. The only thing that worked for me in last year's version was to change the first name of the player to get a new random result.. I have no idea why that worked- but after a couple tries- I'd usually get one that didn't look like a chipmunk.

Think I'm about to give in tomorrow and pick this up for my Vita and then get it on my PS4 next month, too. It'll come in handy when I'm traveling for road games this summer.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Impressions From the Community (PS Vita)

Played one game last night, using Quick Counts and Dynamic Difficulty. Tried playing The Show Live but received a network connection error, so just played an Exhibition game with Arizona (CPU) at Colorado.

-Right off the bat, QC is a game-changer. My game took just over 30 minutes to complete. Love that! The strike percentage was a bit high last night for both sides, but I'm sure that will balance out. I was able to draw three walks, so you certainly do not have to swing at the first pitch you see, although in hitter's counts, you will likely get a pitch to hit so be ready.

-Hitting feels like it has returned to more of an MLB 12 vibe in terms of swing timing, and I'm all for that as I felt like in 13 I had to wait, wait, wait and wait before finally swinging. Even then, I'd still be early on pitches. The ball gets on you faster in MLB 14 and that is a good thing, as it helps me not be so out in front of changeups or curveballs.

-The Dynamic cameras are really cool and add a new degree of difficulty to fielding and base running, as you don't automatically know where the ball is going to land. The Dynamic camera does result in a drop in framerate, though. It is not severe, but is noticeable at times as things just don't quite feel smooth when you are running down a fly ball in the outfield.

-Dynamic Difficulty is a welcomed addition. I can see myself using it all year. I didn't move off of Rookie ++ last night (Timing hitting and Classic pitching) but did win the game 6-4. The CPU did not just lob the ball over the plate, as you might think on a Rookie.

-Graphically the game looks very similar to 13, which is not surprising. The shadows in day games look like they can get extreme in the late innings, so I'll keep an eye on that. What I mean by extreme is it gets really hard to see the pitcher clearly in the late innings, as he's covered by shadows.

-Seeing players in the dugout is a nice add.

Just on the change to the hitting timing window alone, I can tell I am really going to enjoy 14 a lot more than I did 13, which I while was a good game, just never grabbed me like MLB 12 did. I see 14 blending the best things of 12 and 13 and adding in some new wrinkles to make this without question, the best baseball and sports game on the Vita.

For those on the fence like me, I don't think you will be disappointed if you pick MLB 14 The Show up. I'm glad I did.

Anyone else having problems with the steal button not working at times? Hammering the left trigger is successful maybe 25 percent of the time for me. Yes, I have auto baserunning off. I have the same problem on two different Vitas, so doubt it's a hardware problem. It's nearly identical to the problem I had been having on the PS3 version last year.

Am I missing something or did they take out the classic baserunning option? I hate that right stick green/red system with a passion. I swear if I overrun a base one more time and then freeze...

Inability to see reliever fatigue is a HUGE issue. How did this make it past testing?

The framerate issues I'm having definitely seem to be limited to some parks. Target Field and Marlins Park are the worst I've seen so far. The rate drop during fielding has been bad enough to seriously affect my fielding - I overrun a ton of easy fly balls.

Played 2 games this afternoon, and yep, this is the best version of The Show on the Vita.

Dynamic camera really freshens the game up. Quick Counts rule and Dynamic Difficulty is a great addition. Played at Citi Field and Camden Yards and didn't see any noticeable slowdown.

Still wish we had some presentation for walk-off wins. Had a nice rally to win the Subway Series matchup as Ike Davis connected on a HR, but the game just cut to the Player of the a Game screen. Would've liked to have seen a celebration at home plate.

Can we still not pick our fielders? Infield pop up and the game locked me on the pitcher. I wanted the 3B or SS to catch the ball, but I couldn't target them.

The crowd sounds 100x better than previous years and it seems like I'm hearing more from Lyons and Karros this year. Last year it seemed like Matt V. was the only guy who talked on the Vita.

I don't see any way to ignore and it's too bad because my vita has frozen, not sure frozen is the right word here but I choose not to pinch hit and I can't get back to the game, it just stays on the screen where you sub. Problem is I can't sub or go back. This has happened 3 times now although several other times it has worked fine. Not sure what is triggering it.
